[Open] Define your meaning of fun. To me it's when we're gettin' it done...
Characters: Elena & YOU
Setting: Upper Floors; post Whale-crash
Format: EVERY FORMAT
Summary: Whelp, somebody wasn't watching the news feeds because somebody was not responding to her texts and she was out trying to find them. Then BOOM in comes some stupid giant whale and BAM her suit is ruined.
Warnings: Blood, violence, language. Normal everyday Turk business.
The tower was coming down. At least, that had been Elena's first thought when the trembling had increased in volume and severity to the point where she couldn't stand on her own two feet. Clutching at one of the fire extinguishers, she had only a moment to see it. A giant beat of a monster, crashing through the ceiling, its mammoth head pushing downward and onward before coming to a stop several flights below. Around the opening the ceiling and floor cracked, crumbling under the weight and pressure, sending giant pieces falling and crashing around her, creating a heavy fog of dust and debris.
"W-What in the hell was - ?"
There's something hot, wet, and sticky slapping against her face in hands, larger pieces hitting against the rest of her body. Wiping at her eyes, she makes a very audible noise of disgust, spitting out several small chunks that had stuck to her lip. Unable to use any part of the front of her suit, she at least managed to wipe a good deal of the blood out of her eyes, nose and mouth.
"Gross..." And after a quick assessment of her current status later. "Damn, my suit... Guh...this might never come out...- Huh?"
Just beyond the rubble, pass the giant hole in the tower the initial behemoth monster created, a swarm of mirelurks slowly worked their way towards her, slowed only by the piles of concrete. And, unbeknownst to her, there's a baby deathclaw in the group. Hiding behind one of the larger pieces of rubble, Elena draws her firearm from its holster beneath her arm, checking every few seconds to see where the group had moved to.
Catching one of the mirelurks moving a little too close for comfort, Elena fired her first round towards what she could only guess was its head. The loud, metallic sound of the bullet ricocheting off its shell caught the attention of all the monsters in the group, which then honed on her.
"Oh shit..."

A swarm of armored creatures were homing on the young woman he had seen before. Standing atop some debris, he probably could have fled. Against an army like that, it would be a bit tricky to leave alive. Still, turning his back on someone...not something he could do anymore. No choice anymore as he saw it. And when had he done logical things nowadays?
Jumping from his spot, he landed atop the Mirelurk, pushing it down to the ground and staring at Elena. "Are you alright?"
no subject
Taking a deep breath, fingers somewhat slick with blood tightened around the grip of her firearm, slowing the increased beat of her heart before raising up to take additional shots. What welcomed her was yet another unexpected sight, earning several good wide-eyed blinks.
"Hei?! How did you-?" Her question is interrupted by another mirelurk creeping in fast behind him. Firing a pair of shots into the creature's shoulder, she waved him over. "I'm fine, I'm fine. Get over here before one of them run you through with those claws."
no subject
Indeed he can, jumping off the Mirelurk he was on and back onto the ground. More of them coming, his hand moved to the staff on his back, and he whipped it out. Two blades soon came forth, splitting from the staff he held. In one swift motion, he stabbed two of the Mirelurks in the face, and jumping back in time to avoid one of the claws. The creatures stabbed eventually fell over, their most vital of spots killing them in an instant; weapons forged by Eddie at the facility truly were deadly.
"Aim for their face. It's their only real vulnerable spot."
no subject
Its not often she's stunned into silence, but for several good seconds the power of speech was gone. He was quite the efficient killing machine, wasting no time taking out two more of the creatures with very little effort. To say she was nothing short of impressed would be an understatement, an approving grin forming.
"Duly noted. And not bad, by the way."
Climbing up on a nearby mass of fallen rubble, Elena purposely raised her position, allowing her a greater surveillance over the area. If she was smart, she could get the majority of the mirelurks out before having to go to hand-to-hand combat - and that was without Hei's help. With it, her ammo would easily last longer.
"I can cover you from here." There was movement in the back of the huddle of the mirelurks. The baby death claw, tuned to the sound of the fighting, was slowly making its way their direction. Pointing to the approaching creature, she frowned slightly. "What about that one?"
no subject
He jumped atop one again, noting the small Deathclaw making its way over. "Those things are attracted by sound." He leaped off the Mirelurk again, kicking it for good measuring and towards the Deathclaw, managing to block it for now. Throwing a wire, he zip-lined towards the rubble, landing perfectly and observing the battlefield.
"If the armored crabs see it as a threat, we can probably have them kill each other."
no subject
A feeling that certainly did not lead her wrong. This man clearly was familiar with dealing out death and he was good at it. Heeding his advice, she picked off those that got a little too close to the ring that Hei was dealing with directly, their bodies creating a good barrier for those behind them and slowing the other creature's progress.
Sound, huh? Well, that could explain it - her firearm was not equipped with a silencer and, even if it was, she had no idea just how strong its hearing was. Returning her gun to its holster beneath her arm, she picked up the nearest weapon she could find - a broken off pipe roughly three feet in length. It was no sword, but the jagged edge that it had on one end would do. Turning to Hei, she welcomed his nearby presence with a nod before looking back at the encroaching monsters.
"Something that sized, I'm surprised they're not already. Is there a way to aggravate the crabs to get them hostile against the other thing?"

The shaking was worrying but Shion continued searching. Luckily he was on the mid floors when the whale hit, he was still flung backwards and his arm hurt where it had been cut on falling rubble.
For a moment Shion just stared in shock, and despair. If anyone had been on the upper floors...
He still hadn't found Reno or Xion. He set off at a run, tears in his eyes up the staircase.
In front of him he saw a familliar figure. Someone who had survived somehow. "Elena!" He ran forwards and saw the monsters.
He could fight better than he could a few months ago, but he had no weapon on him. So he reverted to old tactics; running forward in an attempt to distract them. "Run!"
adhfakj SHION BABY
Peeking up over the top of the rubble she used as a barrier, she frowned at the oncoming creatures. It was a good sized group of one sort with an even fierce looking one further back. But before she could begin to create a plan she heard her name, her eyes snapping to the source.
"...Shion?"
Oh, she remembered the boy from the bar. He was young man who had caused a slight storm between her, Rusty and Sparky. Having ultimately no choice or say in the matter, she had decided to just move forward and accept the fact that there were new Turks to train. And this one clearly was in some severe common sense training.
"You idiot! What are you doing?!" Raising up, Elena focused on the one closest to Shion, picking it off with one hell of a lucky shot straight to the monster's face. As the thing slowly toppled over, she moved out of her hiding place, now fighting Shion for the creature's attention.
"Get your over here before one of them kills you."

Enough moments for Shion to get to her without problem.
"No. Its fine. Just...think a little bit before you do something. That was reckless."
And while she's chiding, she's also coaching - much like how Reno had trained her. Beneath the layer of complaining and criticizing, there was that guiding hand. Did that mean she fully accepted him as a Turk - not yet. But his little outburst had earned some points. She could remember quite clearly doing a very similar thing for another Turk.
Turning to look at the younger Turk, her eyes started a quick survey of his figure. "Where...where is your weapon? Did you come all the way up here without a -" And she stopped, the tang of blood in the air slight, but just noticeable enough for her nose to pick it up. She new that smell anywhere. Honey colored eyes widened slightly before narrowing again, her free hand reaching to touch the suspected bleeding arm.
"Are you hurt? Let me -"
Ah, but the damn mirelurks. Now that she and Shion were together, they were a single target for the hoard to focus on. And focus they did, moving now towards the pair at an increased pace.
"Shit. We have to get going. Now."
no subject
First though, she up towards the dorms. It was up a few floors that she heard a shout - one she knew she recognized.
She charged up the stairs, coming to a halt when she saw the Mirelurks rapidly approaching Shion and Elena. "Hold on!" she called, thrusting her hand out and tugging on the power she'd been calling almost her whole life.
Only nothing happened, and her hand stayed empty.
The Keyblade. It wouldn't come. Panic crossed her features for a brief moment, then settled into something tense as she next tried to call some magic energy - specifically fire - to her hand. No luck either. Finally, she settled in a fighting stance, moving forward until she was closer to the other two. Safety in numbers, after all.
"What's going on?!"
no subject
"I..." He had no weapon, he hadn't thought of grabbing one of Reno's before searching for him and the attack had come to quickly to return to the room. More mistakes, he shook his head. He was bleeding but it didn't matter, he began to back away with her but turned in surprise when he heard Xion's voice. "Xion! Be careful!"
TURK BABIES!! <3
"C'mon, we'll grab something for you as we move. But for now we -"
Ears twitched, picking up the sound of another voice - female - heading her way. Keeping a hand lightly on Shion's shoulder, Elena turned protectively, firearm raised and ready. But the sight of the small female stops her. Not to mention her attempt to do....something...and it not happen. Perhaps there was more going on with this place than the already identified issues.
"Xion?" Her head turned to look back at Shion. She'd heard Reno say that name once, she was sure of it. And that dull ache throbs harder for a moment. Swallowing it down, she checked at the approaching Mirelurks before turning to the pair.
"Okay, you two. We've got to get the hell out of here. Hand to hand combat is not recommended - not with those claws." At that she thumbed the Mirelurks. Enough said. "I need you both to follow my instructions as best as you can. If we're lucky, we'll get through this mostly unscathed."
no subject
But there was nothing else to do now. Elena was right, they had to get out of there. Xion would've suggested a darkness corridor, but after the failure of her Keyblade and magic, she didn't want to waste time with what would likely be a fruitless suggestion. Maybe it was the monsters that were disabling her powers; Xion had encountered one or two that seemed to disable powers in their vicinity - the animals in the forest at least. But they could worry about it later.
"There weren't any monsters on the stairs, a little while ago." she said, eyes darting between the other two and the Mirelurks.
no subject
"The stairs?" He looked around, trying to stay calm. But his breathing was getting faster and he was beginning to panic.
no subject
"Okay. We'll check the stairs. If they look clear, we'll go floor by floor. Slowly. We don't want to get ambushed." Her hand moved, waving them onward. "You two stay together and do not go beyond where I can see you. If you find a weapon that you can use, grab it."
Out of the corner of her eye she caught the movement of hands, of Shion reaching out to Xion. Placing a hand on Shion's head, she gave it a rough pat, her eyes going from one to the other. "Now, stay calm you two. Okay? I'll take care of you. Now, go!"
And with that she gave the two a push towards the stairwell, turning to fend off the mirelurks, which had closed the gab and were now only ten feet away from them.

[The shout will be coming from behind her, but it's close. Loud, too; Zack's voice carries and draws the attention of the monsters for a moment before a fireball soars over Elena's head and impacts on them instead. It's probably not going to kill more than one or two, and if anything, it's just going to piss that baby deathclaw off, but it buys them a minute or two of breathing and "get the hell out of here" room. Hopefully.
Zack had been lucky. He'd thrown himself into patrol to deal with Sephiroth being gone and was therefore well stocked for combat, but this? This was a mess.]
You okay?!

her rescuerthe newest member of the battle party.]You're.... [She knows that face. She saw it in a file once - Strife's, wasn't it? Something about genetic testing...?] Ah..I'm fine. Just a little....out of sorts. We should get moving before these things recover - we can talk on the way.
no subject
Yeah. The cafeteria's safe right now. Come on.
[He gives her wrist a tug, ready to push her on ahead to guard their backs himself. She seems ready and willing to go, so he doubts he'll have to tug or carry her down all those stairs.]
no subject
Is that the only safe place in the whole tower?
[That sounded almost too horrible to be true. Surely there were other safe places. And trying to figure that out takes a back seat to the immediate feeling of leather gloves around her wrist and the instantaneous reaction that came with it. Elena all but tears herself free from his grip, clutching the offended wrist protectively.]
I'm assuming you might know this place better than I, so you take point. I'll cover the rear. [Holding her firearm up, she jerked her head towards the open area behind them, hoping he knew the way out.]
no subject
[Beyond the fact that there's way too much going on for Zack to care if someone's Turk or Scientist, he's never had anything against the Turks. Hell, he counts Tseng and Reno and Cissnei as friends...even if Reno's being a pain right now.
No, the problem he has is one of surprise that she pulls away so violently. Clearly she has something against being pulled or maybe hands on her in general, but now's not the time to ask. He'll just shake off the surprise and nod, turning back to the stairs and the way he came up to this floor.]
Got it. Just don't fall behind, alright?
no subject
That's inconvenient. Anybody caught five floors up from it will have a harder time getting to safety...
[But to each their own - no? If they came across others, she'd bring them along. As much as she didn't want to move on and stay to look for Reno, she knew he'd be able to manage.]
Not a problem. Set a good pace and I'll keep up. You might want to get moving, they're moving again.
