At the feast

Characters: Taiki and anyone
Setting: Cafeteria, on the 18th during the feast
Format: Whatever you wish
Summary: Taiki is very ill and spends most the feast curled up under a table. Also it is his birthday but he's lost track of time :(
Warnings:

Taiki had already been unconscious before the monsters were taken care of and everyone passed out. He half woke to the announcement about refreshments. He half sat up from where he was laid, under a table; when he had gotten too week to walk around helping he had tried to get as far out of the way as possible and figured he couldn't trip anyone up under a table.

He was hungry, but he also felt sick. He thought he was probably going to pass out again, but he was really worried about Gyousou, he peered through the sea of peoples legs. He couldn't see Gyousou and he whimpered trying to move.

The blood sickness was too much though, he couldn't move he was too dizzy. He pulled his cloak further around him and curled back up crying softly.

The fight to protect the lower floors had been a long one, but thanks to Gouran and the other inhabitants of the tower, Gyousou had made it through without any major injuries. Even so, he had taken time to clean himself of blood as much as he was able before joining the feast, even brushing the blood from Gouran's fur in the way he would have curried his suugu back in Tai. He was aware that this was the least he could do, and even then it wouldn't do much to help Taiki's sickness, but if he could lessen the kirin's discomfort even by a fraction, then he'd do so.

It took him even longer to actually find Taiki, eventually being directed towards the kirin's crumpled form by a concerned fellow inmate. The sight alone made his blood boil and Gouran's hackles lift. Although he had to duck uncomfortably to do so, he crouched under the table, and pulled the cloak-wrapped bundle of kirin out into the open air.

"Kouri, you must try to eat."

And of course the child took it as a criticism when Gyousou was nothing if not bewildered that he was still conscious at all. He didn't respond to the apology, occupied as he was with finding a seat at a table and arranging Taiki and his fabric cocoon beside him.

"Thank you for the loan of Gouran; he saved my life countless times. A fine shirei." It was more meaningless conversation to keep them both conscious, to give Taiki something to focus on. Not removing his arm from around Taiki's body - a flimsy shield at best - he began to pick out fruits from the plates around them, cut them into small pieces, and hold them up to the kirin's mouth. "I hear you were busy yourself... White magic certainly suits you."

Gohran's small tail thumped against his arm, the creature playing its part of harmless pet perfectly. The demon's small form always reminded Gyousou of Taiki - unassuming, yet capable of terrible power. Like kirin, like shirei, it seemed. And with his new magic, the kirin was only becoming more powerful. Not, he corrected himself, that it much mattered in a place such as this. A kirin did not belong here, power or no.

"An admirable sentiment." He held out a mug of water next.

"You are not a deity," he pointed out, needlessly, "Your power, whilst considerable, is limited. I am sure you did what you could." His expression darkened, above Taiki's half-hidden form. "No one could reasonably expect any more."

His frustration at being unable to find a way to remove the taint from Taiki's surroundings was only growing.
