[Room 3-11, Dorms - Day 1]

[At first, Kazumi barely even notices anything is amiss as she gets up - her body is, more or less the same, and she's half asleep. It's only when she goes to brush her hair and pokes her ears that she notices...]

Huh, what?

[And feeling around, she confirms that yes, she has dog ears. Staring in the mirror, she tries to clear her eyes but everything remains kind of blurry until she squints up close. That. That is not her face at all.]

What's going ooooon!?

[Floor 1, Cafeteria - Any Day]

[Dressed in Jade's ~~dogtier~~ godtier outfit and equipped with glasses, Kazumi is... down in the kitchens of course. She's cooking up a storm as usual, and more than willing to share. If you think it's odd that Jade is cooking so much, you recognize Kazumi's cooking (can people do that???) or are just hungry, come bother her!]

[Floor 25, Meadow - Any Day]

[Kazumi-in-Jade's body is out enjoying this one peaceful floor quietly... right until she sees one of the tinkerbulls go fluttering by. Normally she just feels kind of sorry for them but something about the way this one flies by just... makes her... want to...]

[Kazumi is trying out Jade's space powers... shrinking things down or making them bigger. Mostly trying it on some of the fish, making tiny sharks or humongous minnows. She's giggling and having a lot of fun with it, though she jumps back in surprise when she accidentally makes a fish so big it bursts out of the wall of water, almost hitting her before she quickly shrinks it back down]

Will you explain what this Puella Magi is?

Well, its basically... a magical girl! In exchange for having a single wish granted, we're given magical powers and tasked with the job of fighting the witches that prey on humanity.

[Is the nice way of putting it... the consequences though...]

[That alarms Saber, but for a different reason.]

Eh? No, no, it doesn't have to do with that! The wishes are granted, well, by the fairy who make the contract with, Jyuubey.

That is not a name I know.

Well, he'd be way after your time, I guess? [Has no idea just how far back the Incubator/Magical Girl relationship goes] Since if you knew the Knights of the Round Table, I'm from... I guess a millennium and a half after you!

The fae live a very long time, Kazumi. It is possible the name he goes by now is different than the name I would know him by. But how is it that one of the fae could grant wishes? That is not something the fae are known for. Not without severe consequences that are rarely worth whatever they are offering.

[She pales visibly at the mention of "severe consequences"]

Ahahaha, well, about that...

[Saber's eyes harden immediately and she locks them on Kazumi. She knows that reaction.]

What deal did you make with the fae?

Like I said... in exchange for a single wish, we each made contracts to become Puella Magi and fight witches. That's all we thought it was when it happened... but being Puella Magi entailed more than we ever knew, until it was too late...

What were the terms?

The terms we were told when we contracted were as I said. It was only afterwards that we found out that being a Puella Magi, who fights witches... means one day becoming witches ourselves.

So there is no wish granted.

It was! We all got what we wished for... we just weren't told what the actual price was. That our souls would be turned into Soul Gems, and that if those gems became too tainted from use without being cleaned by Jyuubey, we'd turn into witches... we didn't know that's what becoming a Puella Magi meant when we agreed to the contract.

How very trademark of the fae. [Dryly]

What causes the taint?

Mostly using magic. When we use it, our Soul Gems darken. [It's really too bad this explanation is while she's not in her body and doesn't have her soul gem on hand to show her. She'll show Saber later] They also darken just over time, so we need to have Jyuubey clean them regularly anyway.

[There is a slight widening of Saber's eyes.]

Is he present in the Tower?

[She shakes her head] He isn't, but Sayaka said there's a man here, Enoch, who can clean Soul Gems. Mine's still pretty bright so I haven't had to see him yet though.

I will only say this once, Kazumi. You will arrange a meeting between this man and I. And until you do, I do not want you using any magic unless it is to save your own life.

[She's a bit taken aback by how serious Saber is]

Ah? I, um, okay... I'll try to see about getting into contact with him... after our bodies get back to normal, anyway.

Mm! Hopefully we'll be able to figure out why this all happened, or how to reverse it...

If there is something I can assist with, do tell me. This situation is not something that can be solved with a sword. I am unsure how a knight can be of use.

Yeah... well, I think first, I have to find who has my body! And, uh, hopefully I have theirs. It would be really confusing if we were shuffled about instead of swapped.
