Aftermath [open]
Characters: Suzaku and anyone
Setting: Floor 26; the morgue, forward dated to the 26th
Format: Anything
Summary: General aftermath of the body swap event, Suzaku finally emerges because his Geass forces him to find food and then he cooks food, come and join him!
Warnings: Angst, themes of death and deaths seeking. Also various people punching Suzaku in the face
The moment Suzaku had been forcibly returned to his own body he had fled the library, fled those who had dragged him here, fled the frightened faces of those returning to normal and went and hid. The tower was a good place to hide, floors where no one wanted to go, floors with lots of places to go.
Floors that filled both criteria, like the one Suzaku had been hiding out in. It was ridiculously morbid he thought hiding in a graveyard but he didn't think it was a real one. After all it had just appeared and it wasn't like anyone died here...
But he had hid, stewing in his own thoughts sorting out what had happened. He still remembered what he had learned from Jin, but he knew they were his memories now. Separate from Suzaku's own. This probably meant Jin had his own memories as well, knew everything that Suzaku hadn't been telling people for the year he had been there.
And he had hurt them, Jin, Minato, Yu... They had tried to help him and he had lashed out. Tried to die... tried to kill Jin...
Minato had told him he wouldn't forgive him and Suzaku believed him. Part of him was relieved that Minato's constant forgiving him for every wrong Suzaku did him would be over. The only times he had left this floor was to check that Lelouch and Nunnally were alright. He hadn't spoken to them though, just saw from a distance. He knew he should speak to them, they would have had their own issues, especially Nunnally. It was the first time such a thing had happened while she had been here.
But he couldn't bring himself to face them and solitude was easy. He knew it was cowardly but in a lot of ways things were harder here than they had been at home. He had no goal, for the first time since he was ten.
So he had stayed and let the exhaustion that struck whenever he slept out of his own bed and the hunger get to him. Finally though the Geass took over, because it could not let him get too week, would not let him die.
And so anyone passing through floor twenty six would see tendrils of smoke away from the stairs, Suzaku cooking a rabbit he had caught in the forest, now he was actually cooking the food the Geass flare had faded from his eyes, hunger doing the rest to make sure he ate..

and beat him at Halo. Also it's totally a peace offering.]Leftovers from last night. [He vaguely shrugs it off. Hey, if he could forgive Izanami and somehow manage to not slice Adachi in half...] You missed Nunnally beating Lelouch at Halo. Also throwing darts at Jason's face.
[Noooope, totally not his doing. What are you talking about?
The latter was all Jin's doing.]no subject
He was glad that she was beginning to find a place here, even if he still wished she wasn't here at all. Still this more independent Nunnally took a little to get used to.
He kind of wishes he could have thrown darts at Jason's face though...]
Thank you... [His voice cracks a little, because damnit Yu no one is meant to care about him. He's supposed to be hiding out until people's anger cools and then quietly avoiding them. You are meant to be angry and punching him.] I don't deserve this.

Also they saved the game board. Maybe some other time.]
Hm. [...Take that as a "you're welcome." Because it's likely the closest you're going to get right now. Because, to be honest? He is a little angry.
He's angry he saw all of that, he's furious that any of this ever happened, and above all? He is seconding his Persona's own quiet rage that anyone from any form of Japan (or human in general, considering who his Persona is) had to go through that because of a foreign power. The voice inside his head also mentions the second world war and the agony felt by the innocent citizenry due to their government, but even that is askew due to patriotism...
Yet any sign of anger or being upset is muted by his almost-always stoic expression.]
Not many of us do. Still doesn't stop others from reaching out.
[Subtle hint that he doesn't give a damn? Maybe, or it could be something else. Who knows with the guy who shares a similar voice as Lelouch's?]

I'm sorry... I shouldn't have tried to mess stuff up. I shouldn't have put Jin in danger.
[He knew Yu wasn't perfect, he knew he had made mistakes in the tower, he knew he had caused England's death (and really that was something Suzaku would have rather not known... those moments after he had exploded...). But he had never put his friends in danger and if what Suzaku had gleaned from Jin's memories was right, the lives of his friends was very important.]

pleaseyou idiot.]Kind of killed him once with a stop sign to the face.
[It's all said in a matter-of-fact tone, though he does frown slightly. Yes, he had screwed up royally with that one. Though if he knew about that, then he'd likely know it was out of insanity and an attempt at mercy. There had been no way of him or Minato knowing what would have happened, though it should have... been obvious with who it was.
To say their lives were important to him was an understatement, and thanks to these fading memories... the same feeling was beginning to spread not just to Suzaku and the rest of those Lelouch called friends... but many others in this tower as a whole.]
I can't really hold a grudge against you for that.

He deserved it that time. You had to stop him.
[Not so much this time, as he had actually managed to help solve the problem, unlike Suzaku who had went crazy...]
no subject
[It's okay dude, seriously. He went crazy toward the end too; most of them did. Besides, he'd rather not mention just how off the deep end he went shortly before and after the bus stop sign incident.]

Life's normally too short for that.]

He sees that Look and looks away to avoid it, taking some of the food deserved or not he wasn't going to turn away Yu's kindness.] Still, you were right to do what you did, that time as well as yesterday. [Or the day before, Suzaku has lost track of time.]
