01 Lost Kid in Hallway Alert!

Summary: Bitty Yamato wakes up in a decidedly unfamiliar place - and his first instinct is to wander about aimlessly trying not to panic.
Warnings: None for the moment, except bratty genius child alert

Yamato was barely managing to keep his indifferent expression up as he made his way through this strange place's hallways. His geta clacked loudly against the floor, and he held his hands up to his chest as if preparing to suddenly protect himself against an ambush. Hey, he had obviously been kidnapped, so an ambush was very likely to happen!

He was, to put it simply, very scared. He had never left his house before, never even went outside, and suddenly he is placed in an alien building with the news that his world had been destroyed? How could that be? He was raised to protect Japan so - what would his purpose be now? And where was Alcor? Had he been destroyed too? No...no he was too powerful for that! No doubt he would appear at any moment and take him back home, yes...

He just had to find him!

So if you're wandering the hallway, you may see a young child in a black and gold kimono, looking more than a little frightened and confused. Don't try to startle him, you might get a weak Agi singing your eyebrows off - or do startle him if you're mean enough, just to see could hit the ceiling.

"I am not helpless," Yamato said coolly, puffing himself up a little. He can cast magic, okay, and he has the Dragon Stream and a whole lot of spiritual energy and-

...okay his body is too weak to handle that without killing himself but still.

[chronomancer]

Eridan arches an eyebrow over the rim of his sunglasses. "And I didn't say you were, did I?" He shrugs. "Trust me, I've long given up trying to judge people on size or appearances. But if you don't wanna get screwed up to hell and back, don't go out at night if you can't handle it. I can tell you which floors are dangerous if you want."

"Hrmm..." Yamato gave the man a suspicious look. "...Yes, that would be helpful."

[chronomancer]

"Well, right off the bat? You wanna avoid floor 30th unless you really like fighting or killing things, 'cause it's always night there so it's always full of monsters. They don't follow you into the staircase but. You know. Can never be sure." Eridan tilted his head, motioning for Yamato to follow him. "If you've got like... special powers, you should be careful on the floors they don't work, too. It can be annoying, or dangerous if you get cornered by monsters there, too. Basic rule is that if it looks like it's open air, you probably can't use your powers there. They've got a mean sense of humor, the people who run this place."

Yamato followed the man, frowning at this information. The owners of this place had that amount of power? How could they negate another's abilities like that...?

"How...can they do that?"

[chronomancer]

"I have no idea but it probably involves needles," the statement is wry and a little facetious, half a joke, half a serious answer. "They do a lot of weird stuff here, but it's not like anyone knows much of why or how."

Needles? Yamato shuddered at the thought.

"I see...ah, what are these?" he suddenly asked, lifting a hand up to fidget with the collar around his neck. This man had one as well so...

[chronomancer]

"We don't... really know?" Eridan shrugged a little. "Everyone's got one, and they're different colors. They check them once every two weeks, too, whether you want to or not."

[bittydragon]

"Check them?"

Different colours...? Did they serve some nefarious purpose? Not a poison obviously but, well, this place seemed malicious enough with killer floors and monsters, he wouldn't put it past the owners of this place to have shock collars or something equally unpleasant.

[chronomancer]

"Yeah, they take you to the infirmary," Eridan shrugs again. "And then they look at them and change the liquid inside. It's weird, but it doesn't hurt."

[bittydragon]

"For what purpose?" Yamato asked. "What do the collars do? What happens if we remove them?"

[chronomancer]

"I don't think anyone knows, for sure," Eridan sticks his hands into his pockets, walking at a leisure pace. "But the one time they fucked with them, everyone's powers went to hell. So they probably have something to do with that. You can't get them off, though. No matter how you try. Believe me, people try."

[bittydragon]

Yamato dropped his hands from the collar, looking a bit disturbed. He didn't like the thought of these collars having such power over him... it was...

[chronomancer]

"Come to think of it, there's a lot of stuff we don't know about this place," Eridan went on, looking at the ceiling as if it contained the answers to the universe. "But it's not like we have that much time to---" He finally notices Yamato's look. "Hey, hey, you okay?"

[bittydragon]

Yamato stiffened up and he turned his face away, carefully shutting down any emotion on it. "I'm fine. I'm just mildly disturbed over this entire situation. That's all."

[chronomancer]

"It's okay," Eridan offered a lopsided smirk, "I think disturbed is the right reaction, in this situation."
