[01 | Second Officer Log] || [Open]
Characters: Data and YOU!
Setting: Room 2-14, Dormitory Floor Two, Floor Five, Cafeteria, Anywhere Else.
Format: Starting with action, will follow.
Summary: Data is reactivated for the first time within the tower. That probably qualifies as a strange new world to explore. he comes together with his cat, Spot.
Warnings: An android and a cat. Nothing else... For now.
Room 2-14
[ People residing in Room 2-14 may find an android sitting on one of the beds. Data is still wearing the default white outfit provided to all of the tower's inhabitants upon arrival. At the moment he is reading the two letters he had found, with great attention. The first letter got him to raise his eyebrows. Was it... A joke? No, jokes were meant to be funny, not dramatic.
His world had been destroyed? Unlikely. It is a good thing he is spared the emotional consequences of reading such a letter upon waking up, or rather, upon being reactivated. Being emotionless has its advantages.
The second letter is far more interesting though, as it described some of the basics of this tower. He puts the letters down after a while, in order to look around the room. Well... Intriguing. This certainly promises to be a strange new world. ]
Dormitory Floor Two
[ Finally dressed in his Starfleet uniform, Data heads out of the room to explore the tower and find some, hopefully, satisfying answers. His cat, Spot, follows him, at which point Data stops and turns to the cat. ]
Spot, it may be dangerous outside of this room. You have to stay inside. I will come back for you if I find an exit.
[ He gently grabs the cat, goes back inside of the room and deposits Spot on the bed with a nod. He then heads back out- At which point Spots follow him once again. He stops in his track and looks down at the cat. ]
Spot, outside is bad. [He takes the cat back inside.] This is inside. Inside is good. You have to stay inside.
[ And as he prepares to go back outside- The cat sticks by him again. Training his cat is going to take a very long time... ]
Cafeteria
[ Sometime around noon, Data arrives at the Cafeteria- with his cat of course- and looks around before taking his oatmeal. As he does not require nutriments, it is only logical and appropriate for him to offer his share of food to those actually needing it. And obviously the closest living being at the moment is the cat. ]
Spot?
[ He offers the plate with the dreaded oatmeal to the cat- Spot sniffles it before running away outside of the Cafeteria. Data makes no effort to run after the cat, instead looking quite surprised at the cat's reaction.
The oatmeal could not be that bad, could it? ]
Floor Five
[ Sometime during the afternoon, as Data wanders into this area, he happens to spot the clear-collared drones. Oh. Maybe finally a good source of information. Strange though. Their behavior shows similarity to that of Borg Drone. Nevertheless he turns to one of them and nods. ]
Greetings, I am Lieutenant Commander Data. As you may know, I am a recent arrival in this tower. I do not remember the condition of my deactivation, but I know I have been reactivated only this morning. However I have no intention to stay and plan on departing shortly. I would appreciate it if you could give me more information about this place, the reason of my presence here and how I may return to my ship.
Indeed, my imprisonment here is in violation of several-
[ Before Data can ask more, the drone walks away. Did he speak too much? He looks with surprise at the drone for a few seconds before before turning to another one and addressing him. ]
Excuse me, I am-
[ The other drone doesn't make much more effort outright ignores the android. Meanwhile Data looks at both of them alternatively. Well, looks like they won't give him his answers. ]
Intriguing.
Anywhere Else
[ You will find Data wandering around the tower throughout the day, analyzing things he happens to pass by with his tricorder and trying to figure out the situation he is in. This tower is really a strange place. Feel free to bother him at any time of the day.
If you meet him in the morning his cat will be with him. In the afternoon, the cat won't be with him any more. ]

Cafeteria
It's just really soft and fuzzy and cute alright]Careful; it's made of some kind of rare vegetation remains and freaky chemicals. Practically an abomination of science.
no subject
[ It's okay, Data does not mind- And for that matter Spot doesn't either
it's rare when that cat likes someone. Instead he looks at Jade as he pets Spot. Most importantly he is from an undiscovered specie, interesting. Nevertheless, his words make little sense to Data ]This looks like plain oatmeal to me. Composed of carbohydrates, fiber and iron. It is rich in protein and in various minerals that are good for most living beings. A decent yet sufficient nutriment.
no subject
[Yep. She's just gonna stroke the top of Spot's head like she was some kind of badass supervillain or a mafia crime boss. Kind of less effective without the big chair though.]
Or that's what they want you to believe-- And it's actually some kind of interstellar alien regurgitation dish that they can pass off as Oatmeal on every sensor known to the universe.
[...]
Still gotta eat it though.

Was that guy talking to a drone? One of the mindless ones?
Intrigued, Marty stepped off the staircase and came up behind Data, watching him try to address a second one.]
Uh... need help there?
no subject
[ With a nod Data turns to Marty and speaks in a low, conscious voice. You don't want to hurt those drone's feelings. ]
I have tried to address these people, but for unknown reason they ignore me. I am afraid they may lack the reasoning abilities required to answer my queries. However maybe you can answer my questions?
no subject
[Sounds sort of like the Borg actually, but good luck telling Marty that.]
Sure, no problem. You just get here?

Cafeteria
He watches the man's attempt at feeding the cat, then leans against a nearby table casually.]
Must you torment the poor creature with the oatmeal?
no subject
[ Data turns to the man, surprised. He cannot be tormenting the cat, can he? When he speaks, it's kind of like a teacher explaining something- Or a robot speaking. ]
A cup of oatmeal makes for a very complete meal, providing the organism with carbohydrates, fibers and iron in adequate quantities, as well as a sufficient quantity of calories and proteins. Furthermore it is rich in various minerals that favor a steady and healthy growth.

Mister, can I pat your cat?
[Always ask the owner first, kids.]
no subject
[ He looks at the girl before looking at Spot and before looking back at the girl. It is probably not the right moment to mention that Spot is the one most feared animal on the Enterprise, but he nods and shrugs. ]
Feel free to do so. However, caution is advised.
no subject
[Kanon giggles, kneeling down and extending a hand to Spot. The cat creeps forward, allowing her to run a hand down it's back.]
You're silly. He's totally harmless.
(no subject)
Dormitory Floor Two
Just watching is boring, though.]
Hey.
[He tosses his head, and waits until he has the android's attention before continuing.]
You can't tell a cat what to do.
no subject
Why not?
[ He looks back down at Spot with, what would amount for a saddened look for a few second. Not that data actually feels emotion. ]
Spot is my cat. I am supposed to be able to train her. However I agree, training this cat may prove to be difficult if not impossible.
no subject
[Not if Cazali was any indication... ugh, but no, let's not think about that guy...
Ankh's head rolls, and he turns his gaze away from the both of them.]
Put him down inside the room. Then run to the door and close it before he gets out. There. Problem solved.

You'd probably have a better conversation talking to a brick wall, just a head's up.
no subject
A conversation with the brick wall?
[ He looks warily at her before slowly turning his head to stare at the wall. ]
But walls are inanimate objects unable of communication. Furthermore- [He takes out the Tricorder and scan the wall, before looking back at Rosa with a nod and resigned expression.] Nothing indicates this wall may be sentient. I believe you may be mistaken.
no subject
It's a goddamn figure of speech. The drones talk about as much as the fucking wall no matter what you do to them.

...A new arrival, huh? Well, might as well greet him. Sorta.]
Did you just wake up?
no subject
You are correct. However, "waking up" is an inappropriate term to describe what I went through. Saying I have just been reactivated is more accurate.
[ He pauses for a second. ]
Are you one of those who took me here?
no subject
...Reactivated, huh?
[Well... that he hasn't come across yet, but hey. Many worlds, many things, many people. After a moment he just shakes his head.]
No. The people responsible for bringing us here don't show their faces all too often.

Ex-excuse me, what... what sort of device is that you're holding?
no subject
This? This is a Tricorder. A a multi-function portable device, used most commonly for sensing, analyzing and recording data. However, its versatility reaches far beyond its mere sensing abilities.
[ He tilts his head before continuing. ]
This model in particular can record and display messages, is built-in with an universal translator, can emit a photoplasmic trail- Amongst other functions. It is in a sense, a miniaturized computer.

Cafeteria
Not even the inhabitants of this tower will eat it. Not without the threat of becoming ill hanging over their heads.
no subject
Intriguing.
[ Data turns to him and looks with curiosity. ]
But it is highly illogical for one to refuse a meal that provide the organism with the necessary elements.
