Characters: Shadow the Hedgehog, anyone who crosses his path.
Setting: His room [ 03-14 ] upon awakening and beyond.
Format: Staaartin' off as prose, but I will switch about to whatever makes you comfortable.
Summary: One little hedgehog is grumpy and bumbling about the tower, looking for a way out, hoping to get back to Earth (someone's in disbelief, see). Oh, honey, no.
Warnings: Very, very mild cursing from him, should the moment arise that it would happen. (It's a rarity, though, unlike a certain namesake game he has.) Other than that, it really depends on who bothers him!
He honestly thought he was going to die.
Instead, he woke, his brain fizzing like a freshly-opened soda pop, his body numb for a brief moment. At first, it jolted him, the feeling of being unable to move coursing through his nerves, but soon, his fingers began to twitch, toes wiggling and curling within his hover shoes. Shadow was alive and well, no worse for wear beyond some burn marks, some bruising, and some nasty cuts along his arms and sides. Not only that, but he was in a bed, and he was lying on top of two very, very crumpled pieces of paper.
He rose, grunting and groaning over the aches all along his flesh. The letters were dabbed lightly in his own blood, something that made him wince. Disgusting. He didn't want to make a mess. Oh, and the fact that he was bleeding kind of sucked, too.
The first letter was an explanation of where he was expected to reside in this tower here, where to gain food, how to accommodate, etcetera. He scoffed, nonchalantly tossing it onto the nearby nightstand, before tearing into the other one.
That was the one that made his heart stop. His planet was destroyed.
He'd...
He'd failed?
No, this couldn't be. Someone had to be messing with his mind, and he was not about to have any more of it. He was going to confront the owner of this tower right now, settle this, and get back to his planet, saved from the clutches of the Biolizard and the plummeting ARK. His planet was fine. It had to be, or else he'd...
He'd failed her.
[ okay so! shadow can be wandering just about... anywhere and everywhere possible, basically lurking about and examining things as he tries to locate someone of authority. along with that, his roomies are free to find him in his room after having opened his letters. be careful, though: he might be just a bit more of a grumpypants than usual! u_u welp. ]

To put it lightly, it made his stomach twist.
He settled down a little, his defensive stance ebbing into something more relaxed, mainly to show that he wasn't going to be hostile, at least not towards this boy. His expression, however, doesn't change.
"That... cannot be," he denied, his ears flopping against his head. He maintained a cool and collected demeanor, yet the wild look in his eyes portrayed just a small amount of worry. "There must be a way to escape. If I must, I will destroy this entire tower."

He was talking quite quickly to explain everything but he paused then. "You come back though if they kill you, so it's not too bad sir."
no subject
"I am the Ultimate Lifeform," he told him, dismissing the threat of murder as if it were a minor obstacle. He shook his head, adding, "I cannot be killed."
At least, he cannot be killed as far as he knew...

"They can still kill you. They are really powerful, I think they could kill anyone. Even God. But I am sure we will find a way out soon okay." Because this conversation was going firmly into spirits down territory and Romeo had to try and keep everyone's spirits up. Especially new people. "So don't worry okay sir! Dying's not even that scary, I've died loads of times."

What.
Shadow's brows lofted high, his eyes doubling in size at the outrageous statement. They can still kill you? Crazy. They could kill anyone, even God? Very crazy. Dying's not even that scary? Insane. I've died loads of times?!
What on his green Earth is any of this bull.
"You... have died many times." He slowly spoke every word with heavy enunciation, his tone so full of disbelief. This was so awful that he was sure he'd lost a good cluster of his IQ just by hearing it.
"For a child, your fairy tales are morbid."

"They're not fairy tales they are true! I don't lie sir!" and he didn't like being called a liar, he scowled.

Yes, he wanted to interact with this one further, to garner more information from him, however false it may be. Should it not be useful, it could at least provide a touch of foul humor. Pathetic humans...
"Ha..."
He chuckled darkly, his eyes locked on these walls, these dreaded walls that intended on keeping him trapped. Pathetic, pathetic, so pathetic...!
"Soon enough, when I am at full power... I will test your claim. Watch me."

Well he liked his friends, but he didn't like the bad people or being hurt.

They were idiots, the lot of them. It both angered and amused him and brought his blood boiling and made him sick and... and...
No. Shadow shook his head. He wasn't about to lose stability here. He had to center himself. Breath in, breath out... good.
He would find his way out, no matter the price.
"You," he suddenly spoke up, facing him again. "Give me your name. I will inform you once we are able to leave."
no subject
"My name is Romeo, sir! What's yours?"
no subject
"... Shadow. Shadow the Hedgehog."

"How... exactly do I not look like a hedgehog?" Shadow cocked a brow at that remark. He was the perfect fit for a hedgehog! Even though those colorblind humans couldn't tell him and Sonic apart, they could at least understand his species.

"Those are domestic hedgehogs. I am not a domestic hedgehog."
The way he stated it was obviously a little demeaning. He took offense to the very idea of being one of those feeble excuses for a 'hog.

Namely, he was, but that's just his ego talking there.
no subject
"So you are like a super hedgehog right?"
no subject
"In layman's terms, yes. I am the strongest hedgehog created by man, Shadow the Hedgehog, the Ultimate Life..." He trailed off, a small hint of a smirk playing on his lips. "'Super' is an apt description."

"Of course. There are others much like me," he spoke, one very certain blue hedgehog coming to mind, "but they are not as powerful as I. On the contrary, they are quite ordinary." No matter how much Sonic asserted otherwise.

Shadow's voice softened, his gaze averting Romeo's.
"... I suppose you could say that."

Children...
Children like this one, they were endearing. He couldn't deny that, not after having grown up with a girl as sweet and flawless as his Maria.
"Of course they are."
His eyes peered back over to him, all irritation in his body language and expression finally gone, blown away by the atmosphere. "You... mustn't call me that. Call me Shadow." 'Sir' just felt a bit strange. It was like if Maria called him 'sir'.
