Characters: Shadow the Hedgehog, anyone who crosses his path.
Setting: His room [ 03-14 ] upon awakening and beyond.
Format: Staaartin' off as prose, but I will switch about to whatever makes you comfortable.
Summary: One little hedgehog is grumpy and bumbling about the tower, looking for a way out, hoping to get back to Earth (someone's in disbelief, see). Oh, honey, no.
Warnings: Very, very mild cursing from him, should the moment arise that it would happen. (It's a rarity, though, unlike a certain namesake game he has.) Other than that, it really depends on who bothers him!
He honestly thought he was going to die.
Instead, he woke, his brain fizzing like a freshly-opened soda pop, his body numb for a brief moment. At first, it jolted him, the feeling of being unable to move coursing through his nerves, but soon, his fingers began to twitch, toes wiggling and curling within his hover shoes. Shadow was alive and well, no worse for wear beyond some burn marks, some bruising, and some nasty cuts along his arms and sides. Not only that, but he was in a bed, and he was lying on top of two very, very crumpled pieces of paper.
He rose, grunting and groaning over the aches all along his flesh. The letters were dabbed lightly in his own blood, something that made him wince. Disgusting. He didn't want to make a mess. Oh, and the fact that he was bleeding kind of sucked, too.
The first letter was an explanation of where he was expected to reside in this tower here, where to gain food, how to accommodate, etcetera. He scoffed, nonchalantly tossing it onto the nearby nightstand, before tearing into the other one.
That was the one that made his heart stop. His planet was destroyed.
He'd...
He'd failed?
No, this couldn't be. Someone had to be messing with his mind, and he was not about to have any more of it. He was going to confront the owner of this tower right now, settle this, and get back to his planet, saved from the clutches of the Biolizard and the plummeting ARK. His planet was fine. It had to be, or else he'd...
He'd failed her.
[ okay so! shadow can be wandering just about... anywhere and everywhere possible, basically lurking about and examining things as he tries to locate someone of authority. along with that, his roomies are free to find him in his room after having opened his letters. be careful, though: he might be just a bit more of a grumpypants than usual! u_u welp. ]

Nope walking talking hedgehogs don't phase him. "Hello sir! Are you new?"
no subject
It was just then that he'd heard that voice, and he acted swiftly as usual, whirling around to make sure it wasn't anybody suspicious.
It... was just a kid, it seemed. Of course, looks could be deceiving, or he could be a potential well of information. He particularly hoped for the latter.
"You. What is this place?" He eyed him carefully, his body tense and ready to make a move should this boy pull a fast one on him.
no subject
He got a little bit closer though as usual ready to run if this was actually a bad person.
no subject
Except... not really. That hardly told him anything new. 'Really bad tower'? Shadow had a feeling about that already, what with the owner's (owners'?) blatant stupidity and libel. That coincided with the 'bad people' statement, and the 'worlds might have ended' remark was known to him as soon as he arrived.
This one wasn't going to help him at all.
"Do you have any information that is useful, or am I wasting my time on you?"
no subject
Yup somehow strange talking animal was less intimidating than a normal adult, but still Romeo got ready to run.
no subject
He was beginning to grow impatient here. This place was making him itch...
no subject
He frowned again, "The bad people are called Dax, Riki, Jason and Ruana, there's a kid named Zo but I think they captured him. There's lots of monsters and when you die you just come back."
no subject
To put it lightly, it made his stomach twist.
He settled down a little, his defensive stance ebbing into something more relaxed, mainly to show that he wasn't going to be hostile, at least not towards this boy. His expression, however, doesn't change.
"That... cannot be," he denied, his ears flopping against his head. He maintained a cool and collected demeanor, yet the wild look in his eyes portrayed just a small amount of worry. "There must be a way to escape. If I must, I will destroy this entire tower."

God.
It was during these wanderings that Yamato came across a...a strange creature. Yamato paused and stared in curiosity, his head tilted to the side slightly as he looked it up and down. How curious...! Was it a demon? Or did it come from a different world like the 'Troll' in his room?
He wanted to inspect it. Hopefully it wasn't hostile.
no subject
Once he felt a presence, however, he froze, his pupils dilating. The energy that radiated in his direction so faintly felt almost evil, wrong, yet with a hint of something that he can't quite pinpoint. To that, he leaped back, spines bristling horribly and lips raising in a snarl.
It looked just like a little boy, but he wasn't trusting him any more because of that.
"What... What are you...?!" He growled, showing that he meant business if this one wanted to attack.
no subject
Although the question was strange. Perhaps he was like Darkleer, in that he had never seen a human before? Perhaps, maybe... at least Darkleer, as aggravating as the troll had been, was not so openly aggressive like this one.
Yamato lifted his hands to his mouth, hiding slightly behind the sleeves of his kimono. "How rude. I am a human. I should be asking that question of you. What are you? You resemble a hedgehog vaguely, but your physiology resembles a homininae more..."
Well, he shouldn't be asking questions if he would get mauled by the thing. Yamato lowered his hands slightly, holding them close to his chest, his expression blank and cold. "If you attack me I won't hesitate to cripple you in defence."
no subject
This one seemed like a normal human, but he wasn't judging the book by its cover.
"Tch, don't make me laugh. You are not an average human," he hissed, tail lashing about aggressively. "I can feel the presence of something... sinister. If you deem me worthy of attack, you will highly regret it."
He'll make sure of it.
no subject
Yamato laughed, although the noise was a little stilted and flat, like he wasn't quite sure how one laughed correctly. "Ah, I see. You can sense my link to the Dragon Stream, or maybe to the demons...?"
Well Yamato could do the same, but it usually required a good level of spiritual sensitivity to do such a thing. If this creature was agitated by sensing demonic energy though, then it wasn't a demon. Ah, perhaps a new lifeform like the Troll then. This tower was interesting in how it reached out to alien worlds...
Yamato. Hostile creature. Focus.
"I'll only fight in self-defence," he said, waving his hand about in a shooing motion. "I only approached you because I hadn't seen a creature like you before. I was interested. However if you continue to hiss and snarl at me, I will simply leave."
no subject
His body straightened, his body language delving into something more passive - ears lax, tail hanging limply, nerves unraveling. It's just one step to being completely at ease, but it's better than nothing.
"Your link to the Dragon Stream, to the demons..." He worded that, as if he was getting a feel for the terms. "Elaborate. What are these 'demons'? The Dragon Stream?"
He was beginning to get a little curious, let alone purposefully intrusive. Getting to know a potential enemy and all, should it come to that... or otherwise, a potential ally.
At this point, he couldn't really tell which one it was going to be.
no subject
"Demons are demons. They are powerful creatures that come from another dimension. They are categorised into different classes and alignments, and negotiating with them allows them to become your allies. If you know how to deal with them of course."
He laughed again, and this time the noise sounded a bit more natural, but no less settling. "As for the Dragon Stream...it is none of your business."
no subject
He was going to get to the bottom of this, no matter what.
"If it is a danger to me or my planet," he growled softly, "it is damn well my business." He wasn't about to just let this seemingly harmless little boy string him into something like that with subtleties, with little explanation. He was taking all of the precautions.

Rounding a corner- BAM - and Sonic is floored by whoever he ran into.
"Sorry about that-" Rubbing his head, Sonic looks up to see, "Hey Shadow. Long time no see." Why do you have such a hard head Shads?
1/3
Except...
Wait a minute.
2/3
3/3
Shadow whirls around, eyes wide and body tensing. He is alive?! After he fell from space - he, the Ultimate Life - he'd expected Sonic to do the same... yet here he is, alive and well, no worse for wear.
"Hedgehog...!"
no subject
No no Sonic gets an even more bullshit death than that.Don't know what's going through your head Shadow, seems just like another day to Sonic. Hopping back on up, Sonic dusts himself off a little."Didn't expect to see you wandering around here. Nice to finally see a friendly face." Okay not friendly per say, but you get the point.
no subject
SAD, BUT TRUE."So," he begins, taking slow, deliberate steps, circling Sonic much like a vulture hanging over its prey. "You have skirted death yet again, blue hedgehog. I thought you'd fallen from the ARK as I had..."
That hedgehog is... different. He still can't place what it is, as there is no logical reason behind an ordinary, natural organic being equal to an artificial, perfect lifeform. It is impossible, yet the evidence is there, and it's tough for even him to deny. He'd called him the Ultimate Lifeform back on the ARK, regarding Sonic as an equal, and yet he isn't sure that he's ready to fully accept that.
Shadow gives a bit of a sneer, partially bitter, partially fascinated.
no subject
"ARK? What, you suddenly reminiscing on the past or something?"
no subject
"The past..."
He narrows his eyes at the blue 'hog, showing that he is really not in the mood to play any games here. "Did you hit your head falling back down from Earth?"
no subject
"Think you're the one who hit your head again Shadow. The ARK thing was awhile ago."
