Characters: Shadow the Hedgehog, anyone who crosses his path.
Setting: His room [ 03-14 ] upon awakening and beyond.
Format: Staaartin' off as prose, but I will switch about to whatever makes you comfortable.
Summary: One little hedgehog is grumpy and bumbling about the tower, looking for a way out, hoping to get back to Earth (someone's in disbelief, see). Oh, honey, no.
Warnings: Very, very mild cursing from him, should the moment arise that it would happen. (It's a rarity, though, unlike a certain namesake game he has.) Other than that, it really depends on who bothers him!
He honestly thought he was going to die.
Instead, he woke, his brain fizzing like a freshly-opened soda pop, his body numb for a brief moment. At first, it jolted him, the feeling of being unable to move coursing through his nerves, but soon, his fingers began to twitch, toes wiggling and curling within his hover shoes. Shadow was alive and well, no worse for wear beyond some burn marks, some bruising, and some nasty cuts along his arms and sides. Not only that, but he was in a bed, and he was lying on top of two very, very crumpled pieces of paper.
He rose, grunting and groaning over the aches all along his flesh. The letters were dabbed lightly in his own blood, something that made him wince. Disgusting. He didn't want to make a mess. Oh, and the fact that he was bleeding kind of sucked, too.
The first letter was an explanation of where he was expected to reside in this tower here, where to gain food, how to accommodate, etcetera. He scoffed, nonchalantly tossing it onto the nearby nightstand, before tearing into the other one.
That was the one that made his heart stop. His planet was destroyed.
He'd...
He'd failed?
No, this couldn't be. Someone had to be messing with his mind, and he was not about to have any more of it. He was going to confront the owner of this tower right now, settle this, and get back to his planet, saved from the clutches of the Biolizard and the plummeting ARK. His planet was fine. It had to be, or else he'd...
He'd failed her.
[ okay so! shadow can be wandering just about... anywhere and everywhere possible, basically lurking about and examining things as he tries to locate someone of authority. along with that, his roomies are free to find him in his room after having opened his letters. be careful, though: he might be just a bit more of a grumpypants than usual! u_u welp. ]

3/3
Shadow whirls around, eyes wide and body tensing. He is alive?! After he fell from space - he, the Ultimate Life - he'd expected Sonic to do the same... yet here he is, alive and well, no worse for wear.
"Hedgehog...!"

No no Sonic gets an even more bullshit death than that.Don't know what's going through your head Shadow, seems just like another day to Sonic. Hopping back on up, Sonic dusts himself off a little."Didn't expect to see you wandering around here. Nice to finally see a friendly face." Okay not friendly per say, but you get the point.

SAD, BUT TRUE."So," he begins, taking slow, deliberate steps, circling Sonic much like a vulture hanging over its prey. "You have skirted death yet again, blue hedgehog. I thought you'd fallen from the ARK as I had..."
That hedgehog is... different. He still can't place what it is, as there is no logical reason behind an ordinary, natural organic being equal to an artificial, perfect lifeform. It is impossible, yet the evidence is there, and it's tough for even him to deny. He'd called him the Ultimate Lifeform back on the ARK, regarding Sonic as an equal, and yet he isn't sure that he's ready to fully accept that.
Shadow gives a bit of a sneer, partially bitter, partially fascinated.

"ARK? What, you suddenly reminiscing on the past or something?"
no subject
"The past..."
He narrows his eyes at the blue 'hog, showing that he is really not in the mood to play any games here. "Did you hit your head falling back down from Earth?"
no subject
"Think you're the one who hit your head again Shadow. The ARK thing was awhile ago."
no subject
He eyes him warily, unsure what to gather from any of this.
"It was not. I was falling from the ARK itself... and I landed here by some means."
no subject
"Yeah, you fell. Then Eggman found you and patched you back up. I didn't hear anything about a creepy monster tower in the meantime."
That's how that went. Rouge found the black hedgehog and got him up and running again. Someone should have mentioned something like this, but nothing.
"Hey. You feeling okay?"

Shadow grunts, bringing a hand up to nurse at his head, the thoughts tossing and turning within leaving him dazed and confused. He never recalls being found, being patched up, anything of the sort. One of them is going mad here, clearly, either from faulty memory on his part or Sonic just... losing his mind.
"No. That never happened. I fell, I blacked out mid-descent, and I woke here. There is no mistaking the lack of anything in-between."
It just made no sense!
no subject
"Well you've had memory problems before. But even this sounds weird."

Right now, only the fascination remains.
"That is impossible. I've never gone through any of what you've told me. This means..."
He shuts his eyes. That's a ridiculous, inane possibility, but it is the only logical thing he can think of at this point. He voices his hypothesis, unsure if he is even going to be taken seriously upon admitting to it.
"... You may be from the future, a future where you survived the Chaos Control, and I... I am still alive and well?" He looks at him incredulously. He really did survive almost burning through the atmosphere. No matter how much he claims nothing can kill him, he was certain that was it for him. He was ready to die, yet apparently, he'd survived.
That is both a slight disappointment and even further proof that he is the Ultimate. Nothing can stop him now.

"Y'know, that actually somehow makes sense. I did just get back from fixing up the timeline after the Eggheads almost destroyed it." After everything he's been though, time travel is not only legitimate explanation, but makes the most sense in context. The creepy tower's still unexplained, but baby steps. At least we know what's up with Shadow's memory.
"So going back to the ARK, yeah we both lived. We thought we lost you after you fell, but you're still around and kickin'."

Shadow has to wonder how his mental state was in the future. Is he much like Gerald in that the right amount of failure could result in a snap?
Hm. He'd question that later.
"So you have survived... yet I fell and nearly died. You managed to keep afloat when I could not." He quirks a brow, an ear twitching as he eyes him in full intrigue. "I see. Perhaps I was not off-mark..."
He leaves that statement vague, yet his point lies in a certain claim he made, one that implied that Sonic is, too, an Ultimate Lifeform. Did he remember that?
