☆ 001 : DEBUT ☆ "Apparently there is nothing that cannot happen today."
Characters: Rise (
idol_support) and YOU! :D
Setting: Starting in Room 2-01, then WHEREVER SHE HAS TO GO TO FIND HER FRIENDS, K (i.e. feel free to choose if you'd like!); morning of the 12th
Format: Posting with prosebecause I can't help it, sob; no preference for the comments, I will happily follow your lead!
Summary: Rise wakes up (in her Halloween costume, lol) and goes lookin' fortrouble her peeps!
Warnings: Uh...the usual Intro Post Semi-Ramble, and possible spoilers for the True End of Persona 4 (...does that even count any more...), but otherwise nothing so far!
It could have been worse. Waking up in a strange place and then experiencing a short period of sleep paralysis were far from Rise's idea of fun, but while it had been a little scary, she wasn't the type to let something like that get her down or frighten her into inaction; not any more. After all, she'd experienced things tons scarier than that since she'd moved to Inaba and gotten her Persona--it wasn't like it was the end of the world or anything!
...The end of the world...a terrible concept, and one that was vividly real to her now, but also less terrifying at the same time, all things considered. She'd read that your world has been destroyed letter, yeah, sure, but it wasn't the first totally B.S. letter left by some huge creep that Rise had seen this year. Plus she'd received enough iffy fanmail during her career as an idol to know that people could write whatever the heck they wanted, but that didn't make any of it true. She would have to see for herself that the world was destroyed before she'd even begin to believe it! There was really just no way it could be destroyed--she and Senpai and all their friends (but especially Senpai) had just saved it.
More than likely this was the TV World, and some jerk had kidnapped her (ugh, again! That was twice in one year! Twice!) and dumped her here. At least, that's what she'd thought at first...but this place just didn't feel right somehow. Not that the TV World had, but that had been a different sort of Not Right. This was...this was...augh, she didn't even know what this was! It had to be somewhere kinda like the TV World, though, another place that existed outside (or was it more like inside?) of the Real World, because she could summon Kanzeon here with no problem. That had been the first thing she'd done, in fact; the ceiling had looked a little low to try it here, but she had no idea where she was or what to expect when she went through the room's solitary door, and "kinda cramped quarters" was still better than "totally dangerous open area". Anyways, she could always do a more intensive scan later on, when she had a better idea of where she was and what was going on.
What she'd found on doing that initial scan had both reassured and confused her, because ooh, some of her friends were close by! ...But wait, there were a looot of people here, and it looked like there were more--way more--Persona users than just the Investigation Team, whatever that meant... She didn't know anything about them, so Rise couldn't get a solid feel on how many, or exactly where they were, but there were definitely others like them here.
Still, that wasn't the most pressing thing on her mind just now, because in addition to this being a super-weird place...there was also the costume.
Rise hadn't wanted to stay here in this room any longer than it took Kanzeon to run a quick scan of the place and give her a general heads up, but she'd still stopped long enough to change...or she'd tried to, anyway. The outfit she'd found herself wearing on waking up had to go.
It wasn't that she didn't look good in it, and she'd worn a lot less than that on national television, so it could've been way worse, but still! Whoever had kidnapped her this time was a real weirdo (and the idea that someone had changed her clothes while she was unconscious was creepy on a whole new level that Rise decided was best not to think about for now). Fortunately, among other things, she'd found some of her normal clothes in the storage trunk at the end of the bed (which, she'd been interested to note, Kanzeon's scan had designated a Treasure Chest). She'd felt a little unsure about changing when she didn't know whether or not there were any hidden cameras--an idol couldn't be too careful after all, even a former-but-hopefully-returning-to-showbiz-soon one--but she pushed that concern aside as well. Their school uniforms were essentially Full Battle Dress for the Investigation Team, and this place felt strange enough that Rise wanted that extra jolt of confidence from the familiar. That had led to a brief (and utterly hopeless) struggle with the weird collar around her neck (it fit snugly enough that she wasn't sure if she'd still be able to wear her usual white turtleneck), but no amount of tugging, pulling, or twisting could get it off, so she'd conceded defeat for now, and just left off wearing the turtleneck this time.
She'd had to concede defeat again just a few seconds later, when she found that the devil costume wouldn't come off, and then a third and final time when she tried wearing her uniform on top of the costume. It had been a little tricky, what with those wings and all, but she'd managed...only to find that somehow, when she'd briefly turned her attention back to the second (much longer) of those two letters she'd found on waking up, the devil costume had somehow ended up on top of her uniform. Which didn't make ANY sense, and looked a whole lot worse than just wearing the costume on its own had. Ugh! If that was how things were gonna be, then fine! She'd just wear the stupid costume already! She had more important things to worry about anyways--namely, finding her friends and figuring out what was going on here!
Getting the uniform off again was more of a struggle than getting it on had been, but she managed it eventually; by then, she was more than ready to get out of here.
"All right!" she said to herself--hearing the cheery sound of her own voice in her ears was oddly comforting. "Time to find everyone and figure this place out!"
Snatching up the two lettersand totally ignoring the plastic pumpkin and the attached note that had been sitting on her trunk, Rise headed out to face the Tower and (hopefully) find her friends.

Snatching up the two letters

...Let's stick with action since I have a feeling command prompts are a thing. xD
... Oops. Also, you'll have to deal with it, Rise. The brain break is about to begin. Because one week-? Well, at least that was more than he could tell her he'd spent before arriving here, too.]
...I see.
[That in itself probably sounded suspicious, so he pulled away slightly so he could look her in the eye. Which also means temporarily pulling away the mask as he gently leads her to his shared dorm room right across the hall from hers...]
Time... flows differently here.
[> You decide to go over the basics of Tower life after making sure she sits down... because there is a lot to go over. How that, despite maybe being from the same timelines, others seem to have been brought here from other points in time where certain events haven't occurred yet. Like with Yukiko not knowing anything about Adachi-san being the culprit or of the goddess behind the entire ordeal (who, by the way, is present and has actually been helping them during their struggles against the ordeals the admins have put them through.
> You also inform her that it's been seven months since you first left Inaba, both timeline-wise and in this tower. You also do not neglect to tell her that if she's hungry, she has to eat the oatmeal first or she'll get sick and not be able to keep anything else down.
> Also, death is cheap and/or nonexistent.
> Yes, you will go over everything else soon, but that was a mouthful to start with.
> You look at her, worried... It's been a while since you had to share this with someone close, let alone this close to you.]
Like I said, totally the best way to deploy exposition blocks. XD
She doesn't quite like the tone of that I see, but she doesn't press him just yet; it sounds like she's in for a Long, Serious Talk, so getting out of the hallway first is a good idea. When he guides her towards his dorm room, she goes with him willingly, looking around with obvious interest once inside even though it looks prettymuch exactly like her own. The same plain walls, and the same unremarkable wooden trunks at the ends of four identical beds
...except for the Nyan Cat scarf tucked half-beneath the pillow on one of those beds, which is the one she chooses to sit on.The idea of time flowing differently isn't totally alien to her, since time had always been kinda weird when they were inside the TV, but...]
...Seven months? Oh, Senpai...and here I was complaining about just one week. Sorry...
[The coming-from-different-parts-of-the-timeline thing is a little harder to understand--well, maybe not understand, because she gets what he's saying (he's always been a great tutor ♥), but how could it be true? Yukiko-senpai had been with the team the whole time, she hadn't disappeared for months and months, and neither had anyone else on the team. Still, if Senpai says it's for real...she'll believe it. He wouldn't lie to her. (...Well, unless there was a really really important reason for it, and she'd still be pretty mad at him for it even then, but she'd mostly understand, and she'd still trust him again and again, always, regardless.) Izanami being here and helping them doesn't seem all that strange in comparison to the time thing...or maybe they're just kinda equally weird. (How did somebody kidnap a goddess anyway? Again, weird!)
The death thing, though...that just sounds...wrong, more like impossible really. But again, he wouldn't be telling her all this if it wasn't true, right, and there were plenty of little things here that felt all out-of-place, small evidences--like being stuck in her costume and the fact that she could summon her Persona--that this place really was outside the normal.
If anyone but Yu-senpai had been telling her all this, though, she probably would've dismissed it as total B.S.. But since it was him...it's still more than a little difficult to swallow, and it'll take some getting used to, but she'll try.
...She finds a surprisingly anxious light in Yu's eyes when she looks up, so she gives a little laugh and does her best to smile for him.]
What do you look so worried about? That's not like you, Senpai.
[Rise bows her head again briefly, expression going pensive again, but then she nods determinedly and the smile's back for good.]
...It's a lot to take in, and it is pretty hard to believe, but...I trust you, Senpai. It you say that it's all true, then I'll accept it.
Yep. And whoops, late tag is late.
It was the Nyan Cat scarf that gave it away, wasn't it. Silly love of cats the entire team seemed to know about. He nods at that exclamation, though not phased by the surprise as much as he should.]
It's alright.
[He... didn't want to explain what the admins said about how it was possible. She'd likely find out on her own somehow, too. (Also, no idea; you'd have to ask them about that one. He has no idea and he is not sure how to feel about that. Izanagi is not helping matters at all.)
The worry is soon dismissed with a vauge hint of amusement, though.]
I've had to explain this to a lot of people the last few months; not many believe me until they experience it for themselves after a few weeks.
[And he doesn't want her to suffer that like he did, or for her to be hurt in any way like the rest of them have. In a way, Yu is trying to look out for her so she could digest these painful truths so the her now would not be altered as drastically as he, Yosuke, and Naoto have been and so suddenly. After all, he... He wasn't the same senpai she trusted with their strength a week ago. There was metaphorical blood on his hands.]
This place isn't the best, and sometimes the admins can make it worse than the TV world,so I don't want you to have to go through this blindly like Yosuke and Naoto-kun did before I arrived.
[He remembers it all vividly.]
Pfft, no worries there, I will backtag until there is a New Heaven and a New Earth. X'D
Y E P, it was your love of kitties that betrayed you, Senpai. XDRise blinks, almost looking a little indignant at the idea that people might not believe Yu, especially when he was explaining things for their own good.]Of course I believe you! Why would you lie about something like this? Plus, it's way too crazy for you to have just made all that up!
[...Also, Senpai never looks worried for nothing. Only when it's Something Big
or else Something Ridiculous. And the fact that he wants to protect her by giving her as much information as he can, so she's as prepared for what this place might throw at her as she can possibly be...she's more than a little grateful for that, although hearing that Yosuke-senpai and Naoto-kun had a hard time of things makes her a little worried now.]Thanks, Senpai. I really appreciate you looking out for me like that. And I'll do my very best to return the favour, you can count on it! But...are Yosuke-senpai and Naoto-kun all right?
[They have to be okay now that Senpai's here, right? Still, the phrase worse than the TV world is what really sticks in her head, and she doesn't like the bad feeling it gives her.]
or Revelation becomes a Thing and Yu is wondering when Black and Pale Rider got out of his head?
And no one was surprised (thanks, Kanji-kun). XDWell, they didn't fully believe him about the Shadows, so he's pretty much used to it by now. But then, when wasn't he after what happened when he first stuck his hand into a TV? It was also why there was a F.A.Q. guide on the network, too.]I don't know... There've been a lot of crazy stories before.
[Oh look, he's trying to lighten the mood in his own, deadpan way (too bad Kanji isn't here to help with that effort). As for that question...]
...For now, if their costumes haven't gotten to them yet. Being "alright" can be...relative to the state of the tower sometimes.
[He's keeping them together for the most part, but he can't be everywhere and this tower is huge. Feel free to ask questions, Rise; anything he didn't cover...?]
Yeah +tags might be slow, Internet connections will likely be spotty at best during the Apocalypse.
Don't worry, Senpai, she thinks it's cute XDAnd Eikichi told her a little bit about the Shadow Event, buuut I guess that thread actually hasn't happened yet SO |D]Nothing quite this crazy, though. This is a whole new level of weird!
[She says it cheerfully, because yeah, mood-lightening is good, and she's basically the team cheerleader, after all. She's not gonna give up that role just because they all ended up someplace that's even stranger than usual.]
We should be okay if we stick together! We haven't met an enemy we couldn't take down when we're all working as a team! So as long as we have each other, we'll make it through okay, and maybe even find a way to get home again...right, Senpai?
[She hasn't had her Tower Tours with Rei and Nesir respectively just yet, so Rise has yet to truly realise the full scope of things, just how big and confusing this place really is. She'll doubtless find you with loads of questions later, though.
Possibly/probably(/especially?) SHADOW EVENT questions]Oops it happened except not really.
Well good, because if she didn't then there would be WORDS (gasp!).]Fair enough. [He smirks a little at that, especially considering it was one of the strangest places he's ever heard of or been. And let's face it, things had been insane before in the TV world.]
Mm. [He nods faintly, though it is a bit more muted in the answer department.] May end up being the hardest thing we've ever done, but I know we can do it. And not just us; there are many others here who want to either find a way home, or restore their worlds.
[It all depends on whether they believe the message left via note, and he will be around for those questions. Enjoy the Tower Tours! c:]
Nah, the WHOLE WORLD isn't ending, just this thread. X'D
BUT SENPAI, she said in her dream that she wants a big dog, and you said it was a nice dream! D: (...Only that was P4G, which we're not sure is Our Version of Reality yet or not soooo...^^;)]We'll figure it out for sure, then! We just can't give up, no matter what! Actually, I'm kinda surprised you haven't found a way out yet, Senpai.
[He's really hiding it well if his words about escaping aren't sincere, because she doesn't get the feeling that he's given up; thus, that bit of light teasing at the end of her statement. Nah|D
She will enjoy those tours (well, sorta), but...even though she doesn't have any more questions at the moment, for now she's gonna hang out here and enjoy just being with Senpai for a little longer. ♥ It's been a whole week of No More Senpai for her, after all! She just wants to bask in the moment of having him back again.
And there would totally be tonnes of cuddles right now if you were closer, just fyi.]
