02 - a wolf among sheep

Summary: Yamato is dressed up as an adorable lamb. He is downright psychotic with rage.
Warnings: He is actually a wolf in sheep's clothing. He has fangs. He will bite.



Yamato felt downright ridiculous as he slipped quietly into the cafeteria, looking about to make sure that it was empty. It had taken a stupid amount of time to slip this far without being detected, but it was better than someone seeing him dressed up as this- this-!

This lamb!

He was absolutely adorable! Cute! Cuddly! It was an outrage! He was a Hotsuin, and Hotsuin do not look adorable or anything of that nature! Yamato snarled quietly to himself, stepping further into the cafeteria. If he didn't need to eat, he would've just stayed under the bed for eternity!

It was bad enough going to that 'meeting' - where barely anything was solved except the candy collection. At least he could hide behind the other children there, but on his lonesome? No, if he was caught by himself, he would have to suffer being laughed at.

Total humiliation.

So someone find him and laugh at him already.

"When people offer help, it is usually because they have an ulterior motive," Yamato said, narrowing his eyes suspiciously.

"True."

... Fine. He'll be a bit honest.

"You remind me of my brother, a bit, as well as myself. And it would be a shame to let something happen to such an intelligent-seeming child."

[bittydragon]

...okay, you called him a child, but you also called him intelligent. Although his adult self was rather disdainful of flattery, his child self was still susceptible to it.

Meaning he eased up on the glower.

"Hrn, is that so?" He sort of...understood familial affection, but only from Alcor. He supposed brothers would have a similar relationship as he had with Stardad.

"In any case, I can still get my own food. I want pumpkin seeds, anyway."

Yes, he has the bad habit of picking one food and living off of it for days, fight him.

"Pumpkin seeds... here."

He pulls some out of the cabinet in a baggie, and holds them out to Yamato.

[bittydragon]

"..."

Yamato could've gotten those by himself...!!

Urgh, whatever. He was too hungry to care! He took the baggie with a rather pouty expression, and opened it to munch moodily on the seeds.

Naoya chuckles a little bit, just watching him for a few moments.

"My name is Naoya."

[bittydragon]

Yamato gave him a grumpy look that basically said 'I don't care', but after a tense pause gave a low sigh and muttered; "Yamato Hotsuin."

[crouching_sin]

Good, since he was about ready to start lecture mode on manners. Dammit child. "Good to meet you, Yamato."

[bittydragon]

You would not be the first to lecture him on manners, sadly enough.

Yamato just gave him another suspicious look, but didn't reply, idly picking at the pumpkin seeds like a little bird. He didn't really eat much - it was already past noon and this was his first meal of the day, and probably the only one. He was used to gorging on one thing and letting that carry him throughout the day.

... Yeah he noticed that. He did promise to look out for you for Alcor.

"You know, you should eat more. Even if you're not doing anything, just using your brain will burn enough calories that you won't have enough left over to build any muscle mass."

[bittydragon]

"I eat enough," Yamato said a bit defensively. "I get full quickly anyway."

[crouching_sin]

"You need to eat more than one thing. You're still young - your body needs different nutrients than just pumpkin seeds."

[bittydragon]

Yamato stubbornly turned his head away. "I know. Carbohydrates, protein, calcium, as well as other vitamins and minerals are necessary for optimal growth. I'll just eat food with those later."

[crouching_sin]

"... How old are you?" A child his age shouldn't be talking like that.

[bittydragon]

"Seven," Yamato replied, glancing up at the man with a frown. "But my age means nothing. I am intellectually on par with adults."

[crouching_sin]

"Oh, I know that better than you could imagine." He chuckled, thinking back to how he was always considered a 'genius' child in many ways. He wasn't. He just had more experience.

"Knowledge, however, has much less use when you do not possess the emotional maturity to put it to a good cause."

[bittydragon]

Yamato bristled a bit at that. "I have emotional maturity. I do not allow myself to fall prey to unnecessary emotions that would otherwise cloud judgement."

HUUUUUUUUUUUUFF.

[crouching_sin]

... You're not convincing him at all.

"And that's where you're wrong. Those 'unnecessary emotions' should be used as indicators, or tools. You're still young. Don't allow yourself to become a bitter old man like me."

[bittydragon]

"How can they be used as tools? I was told that emotions are a hindrance, and will only soften those that would otherwise be strong," Yamato replied, frowning slightly.

[crouching_sin]

"Well... fear, for example. Considering the natural fight or flight reaction your body produces, if you can keep your wits about you, you can utilize your physical reactions towards your intended rather than instinctual ends." Physical reactions were very powerful things... when used correctly.

[bittydragon]

"Do you mean adrenaline?" Yamato inquired. "Taking advantage of that is simple; you suppress base emotions such as fear to have a clear mind, enabling you to utilize the released adrenaline to its full potential. Again, showing that emotions are unnecessary. They can be used to catalyze certain chemical reactions, but beyond that, are unnecessary."
