Characters: Sephiroth [Part 1: Closed unless you want to spectate as it's very open to an audience. Possible Tag: Cloud
atouchofstrife if you're close enough to pick up the Jenova cells turn-off. Part 2 & 3: Open at any time]
Setting: Various Floors. 14th October. Then 17th - 19th October
Format: Prose & Action (will match)
Summary: Sephiroth's first rebellion & the aftermath, then much reading in the library
Warnings: Nudity/Shower time included (in case it gets graphical). Possible Violence. Will otherwise edit as necessary
1) Collar Check up Day: Corridors Dorm Level 3, then eventually 2nd Floor Infirmary (Early 14th October, day after the last Violet collar check up day)
Sephiroth hadn't turned up for the collar check yesterday and he felt damn good about it. Take that so- called rulers of the universe. There was no way, no way he'd willingly walk into a room to lie down and take whatever it was they did to a person in there. The very idea of being 'messed' with or otherwise experimented on made Sephiroth's stomach turn and twist around in knots to an almost sickly level; he knew
it was the ghost of memories lost that made him feel such a way but that just gave him a reason even more to avoid it at all costs. Never mind that it was perhaps the most invasive way of anyone exerting control over anyone. Well they wouldn't control him, he was the puppet master, obsessed with his own control; his own destiny. His ego was swollen with pride, having avoided the Halloween game, maybe they'd figured they should just leave him alone.
Waking early on the Sunday Sephiroth went about getting dressed with the intention of heading down to the Cafeteria for some breakfast. Pumpkin-associated food was getting about as interesting as eating cardboard by now but Sephiroth now had a plan. Legolas had suggested there may be floors in the Tower where he could find something to kill that may be edible or gather something that wouldn't kill him. Ever self-sufficient Sephiroth knew he had to find out more about sort of wild foods might be available before he went and picked
something that would kill him. Handily enough, Xehanort had mentioned that there were two libraries in the Tower (at least, that was as far as he knew after all) so this seemed the logical next step. Plan for today.
He'd clad himself in all of his usual (and only) outfit, since he was sure it felt a little colder than it had when he first arrived and also he wanted to be prepared for anything. Perhaps a little more apprehensive since he knows he broke a rule. If they wanted a fight, bring it on. Sephiroth stepped out into the corridor and, confident but cautious, headed for the stairwell. Turning a corner Sephiroth stopped as if he'd hit a wall. There was a figure, right by the entrance to the stairwell; it glowed red at its throat and Sephiroth just knew it was staring right at him.
Reflexively, Sephiroth flexed his left hand in the way that would usually summon Masamune from nothing to his hand. But no familiar weight then followed. "No." Was whispered as Sephiroth's pulse stopped before starting to pick up pace, natural panic beginning to take hold as he came to the realization that they maywell have turned off his powers. He risked to take a glance down to confirm this suspicion and in the second he did so the figure was suddenly right there in front of him. The figure hadn't moved as such as appeared, it had to have been a teleport for sure.
Without hesitation Sephiroth followed by putting all of that practise at the punching bag to use, and swung a powerful left hook at the red-collared figure. Eyes widened as he watched his fist go right through the figure as if he wasn't even there, Sephiroth's body followed with the force and knuckles just touched the corridor wall before he was slammed hard into the wall, front first, from behind with such sudden force enough to knock the wind from his lungs. He fought to take a ragged breath as he glanced to what was behind him. Confirming his suspicions: there were actually two of them, red from the collars reflecting in his eyes as he felt one of them yank his head back by his hair while the other took a grip around his collar and then his world quickly blurred into blackness.
2) Later 14th October
Infirmary 2nd Floor [Open]
[Someone turned a light on. Black turned to white behind Sephiroth's eyes and a moment later he woke to the whitened surroundings that could only be in a clinical environment. He took a gasping breath for air as the last things he recalled came shooting back with a vengeance. All of the opportunities he'd had to at least run from them first, how he'd just let them take him, the fact he didn't -need- Masamune in order to put up a fight just kicked at his ego. Never mind that the retrievals were impossible to hit, he was too damn shocked to have done anything about it. Sephiroth resolved that they wouldn't be so lucky next time.]
[After a quick check over himself to make sure everything was intact the realization deemed on Sephiroth that he had no idea how long he'd been out for. Was it morning still or later afternoon now? More to the point, what had they done when they brought him here? Sephiroth started to feel sicky the moment his mind wandered into the experimentation box but more determined than ever that it won't happen again, he waited for said nausea to pass before getting up and heading on with this plan for the day.]
Cafeteria [Open]
[It'd only been an hour after he left the Infirmary, but Sephiroth felt dirty now. Violated and not in the least bit happy about it, adding it to one of the many reasons he needed to take revenge; on everything. Not even eating, he cupped a hot pumpkin tea in his hands as if the warmth would somehow take the edge of the anger he was feeling, in order that he could claw back that feeling that he was in control of himself. How dare they, didn't they know who he was? Sephiroth was glaring at anyone that dared to come close, even if they haven't done anything to him.]
Showers! (Dorm Level 3) [Open]
[Unable to bear it any longer, Sephiroth had headed straight for the showers after his pumpkin tea had gotten cold. Scalding hot water reddened his usually pale skin as he proceeded to scrub his skin raw. Only then for sure would any remnant of that feeling, or that Infirmary smell be permanently cleansed from him. No matter how many times he washed his hair through and through, each long silver lock seemed to remember too keenly the feel of that hand around it; reminding him again and again of the events of the morning. Eventually accepting at least that this new trauma would have to fade with time rather than be scrubbed from him. Frustrated he smacked a palm against the side of the shower stall and turned the water off. He'd drip- dry this out rather than chance dressing just yet, lest the leather itself remind him.]
3) Study bug: Floor 21, Floor 20, Floor 19. There has to be something in these books.
-17th Oct: Mid-morning - Early Afternoon (Floor 21, Floor 20, Floor 19)
[Elevator. Floor 21. Stairwell. Floor 20. Sephiroth took a moment to pause and survey the surroundings on this floor. With its unstable ramp winding out into the open air Sephiroth took the opportunity to take a deep breath of the air that came wafting in for lack of any outside walls. Curious as he was to where the winding, crumbling ramp led this would be a task for another day.]
[Once in the library, Sephiroth went about finding any books, and learning what he could on edible plants and general techniques for trapping game, despite if they were specifically to do with what would be in the Tower or not. If the forest and meadow floors were anything like Legolas made them out to be, then the edible things he should be able to find had to be similar across all worlds. Otherwise how would he have known what was safe to collect or not. Right?]
-18th Oct Mid-morning - Late Afternoon (Floor 19)
[Next day, another day of studying. Sephiroth was a little irked at one point when he'd re-entered the library and found that the books he'd been looking at the previous day were not where he left them. So he'd had to spend more time re-finding the books that he found yesterday. This enabled him to see more of the library as the books weren't on the same shelves he'd found them last time. Noting in particular the sections of books just missing; as if someone had purposefully removed them. Noting logically what subjects they would be on, Sephiroth found this typical. Why would they make it so easy, if one should wish to find out more about where they were, why or any other logical question? His mind wondered later in the afternoon back to how they had treated him, how betrayed he'd felt by that, how he wasn't going to let them get away with it. Ironically at one point in the afternoon, this feeling stirred a memory he didn't think about too much anymore but still had retained; the last time he was in a library like this, he'd discovered that which had made him feel exactly the same way. Was it this floor putting that thought in his head?]
-19th Oct Late Afternoon - Evening (Floor 19, Floor 20)
[Another late afternoon spent reading in the library. Hadn't he been like this last time he'd been obsessed with finding answers? He's not sure anymore if he's already covered the book he's reading at this moment or if it's some sort of variation of another book like it. Sure he's read about all sorts of ways to determine if plant life is safe to eat or not, and he's read about some simple traps he could set up in a wilderness. However Sephiroth knew that he wouldn't be able to really test this knowledge until he took the time to visit the so-called 'meadow' and 'forest' floors that Legolas had mentioned. Something he resolved to do soon. Sometimes Sephiroth's interest would wonder from the topic, picking up a book on a completely unrelated (but not so un-related) topic. Such as how to prepare said meats, fruits and roots etc in order to make them edible.]
[He left the library later than he thought he should have on the 19th. Indeed by the time he ascended to Floor 20 he could hear the monsters scratching about. Deciding this might be a few minutes well spent, Sephiroth entered the floor from the stairwell and charged for the first monster he saw. At least whatever the red-collars had done to him hadn't been permanent and so Masamune was ready and capable as he'd always relied on it to be. Collecting his candy on the way back to the stairwell, Sephiroth didn't hang around long on Floor 20 before heading back to 21 and the elevator]

One thing he did want, was answers.]
What did they do to me?
no subject
Who did what to you?
[ She mused softly. She wasn't there when he had the check. ]
no subject
They just-
[He couldn't even say it. Saying it was admitting he'd been defeated, outwitted, caught. He'd been so sure, so confident he'd managed to retain some thread of control over his life here that it had blinded him]
-Took me. I couldn't do anything. [Anger laced tightly around the emphasized words]

When he finally took the cup, she was rather relieved. Despite all the bad things that did happen, he wasn't to blame for them, seeing that he didn't know what she was talking the first time. She might as well throw it out the door for now, but that didn't change her uneasiness towards him. What if he did something? She had plenty of friends here and they were seriously going to get hurt if anything like that were to happen again. She looked at him for a moment before speaking. ]
Do you mean the people that put us here with collars? It's the same for everyone else here. It seems like no matter who you are or what you are, you are powerless against these people. From my experience, things like this seemed to have many counter measures and plans. At least, it seems that way. Even the people that could possibly be dangerous have been researched on, I guess.
[ Even Duzell, the most powerful being in her world was powerless. She wouldn't be surprised if it was the same for this man. ]
no subject
He really could not abide, by principal, being made to do anything against his will. His willpower was indeed one of his core assets and to take that away- As if it didn't count for anything- was unacceptable.]
I'll give them counter measures and plans. Two can play at that game.
[His tone was as dark as the places his mind wandered with regards to how he was going to take revenge for this insult]
no subject
You can if you want, but if you fail? What will you do then?
[ She replied. She didn't want to see people getting hurt or anymore bloodbaths but her thoughts were obviously wishful thinking. The world revolved around violence. There was no escaping. ]
...You should be careful.
[ It was hard to say that but at least she could say it. She didn't know him and he clearly didn't know anything she was talking about. Maybe this wasn't so bad, but she was still on edge. She had never been so on edge with anyone before. ]
no subject
I will not fail. [Cold determination backed up by conviction seldom seen in others shone behind Sephiroth's expression. His mind underneath thinking over, flipping around and rethinking the events of the morning... as if it held some answer.]
sorry late tasg again ;__;
That's what they all say until something stuff happens. You should still be careful but it's like you're obligated to listen to a silly girl anyway," she replied shrugging.
[ He was petty determined, and the personality definitely matched up to the one she remembered. This was just one problem after another. She didn't really want to provoke him, but talking with him was still sort of irritating. ]
Well, you can do whatever you want, I guess, but at least leave the innocent people out of this if you wanna lash out on those guys in charge.
no problem as ever
Then so called 'innocents' will need to stay out of the way.
[Sephiroth had no qualms in going through anyone in order to get to his goals. Besides, who was really innocent anyway? He really was that cold, considering he was above the human race.]
<3
There was an exasperated sigh from her as she placed a hand on her head. ]
Do guys like you think like this all the damn time?
[ Oh, he was just like Duzell, how he held his pride above all, and thinking that nothing could hurt him. It at least sounded that way to her. ]
Are you intending to make the people your enemy also? Jeez.
no subject
[Sephiroth would have laughed despite himself, despite the whole situation at the girls' exasperated reaction. It seemed clear to him that she had someone in her life that was similar in attitudes to him. Similar only. No one could be the same as him, maybe in time she would figure that out.]
I only know one guy like me, me.
[Knowingly or not, she seemed to be on the save-all bandwagon. He got the impression that if he insisted on not needing to be saved, she would persevere regardless; right until her end. He'd seen a handful of people like that before, it left a sour taste in his mouth. Compulsive kindness made no sense to him, there had to be another motivation.]
Right now, everything here is my enemy. Until I learn otherwise.
[Safest way to be.]
no subject
[ Though, she was not going to put that thought aside that there could be another version of people here. She's kind of seen it every so often. It wasn't like she was trying to win brownie points with this person, it was a natural thing that she was capable of. No matter what the person was, or where they came from, she didn't make judgements until she was sure. Even then, it was still doubtful. She tried to think about things on a more positive level.
Ughhh... why was she talking so much? She didn't even know when she'll get killed at this point. It just sucked that she had to run into him twice already! ]
It's not like I'm trying to say you should trust every living breathing person or creature here, but maybe not assume they're bad people. You don't know them and they certainly won't know you.
[ Ah, she could understand that somehow. Her trust was wavering recently on people. It was all that damn place's fault. ]
sorry, stumped me for a bit there...
I'll take my chances. If anyone proves to me otherwise I may change my mind about them.
Safe rather than sorry.
[He simply wasn't having it. As someone who has always managed alone it was just beyond his understanding to give anyone any benefits of doubting. Also bearing in mind, they could be part of the experiment too. Even this girl could well be, sent here or otherwise 'programmed' to try and make him think outside of his comfort zone.]
bawww :<
...
[ Gah he's also stubborn. She should really just mind her own business and leave the guy alone. ]
I guess...so, but I still think you're over exaggerating this. We're all stuck here one way or another. I don't think anyone wants to be here anymore than you do.
[ She sighed. Whatever, she wasn't going to waste her time trying to reason with him. She wasn't a bad person but if he labeled her as threat, then there might be something wrong with him. He was talking to someone who wouldn't even harm a fly, much less a person. The only reason why she would do anything was to defend herself. ]
no subject
[He stops, knowing that he's thinking out load and maybe ranting and not sure if he's ready to share his opinions of this place with another person. Especially such a person that seemed to have past with another version of him.
Sephiroth recalled that others had informed him of the same after he had run into this girl before. Maybe now he could ask-
He didn't. The words unspoken hung in the air a little. Why should he care really what some 'alternate version' of himself had done?]
no subject
[ She stopped herself too. She knew that she didn't want to stay here anymore than the next person, but accepting it wasn't an option but she couldn't exactly do much being the kind of person she was. She knew that he was just stating what he wanted to state and she couldn't tell him what he could or couldn't do. She didn't really have a right. ]
You're free to do whatever you want to, I guess. I just hope it won't come back to bite you in the ass.
[ She raised her hands in defeat. Clearly, this guy was definitely not someone who would take it the way she did. He was free to ask her if he wanted to. It wasn't like it was a secret or anything, having versions of other people here. ]
no subject
[It wasn't meant as sarcastic, only a suggestion and Sephiroth's tone reflected that in a very honest way. Maybe it would be worth to keep her talking a little longer; it might answer some more of his questions and maybe fill him in a little more about the Tower. She did seem like she was speaking from experience.]
no subject
[ She replied softly as she scratched the side of her face. She was fearless, but that didn't mean she would be careless. This guy was truly very strange and weird. It's not that he was trying to kill her or anything. She assumed he would have, seeing the state of mind of the last one she saw. It didn't help that a lot of her old companions were from the same world as the other him. Still, she didn't really bring this up because it might be awkward.
She wasn't all that knowledgeable with the Tower, but the Tower was a very different place from the Facility. ]
I just don't like to see people get hurt and it doesn't matter if they're good or bad but that's just the opinion of an ignorant teenage girl, so....
no subject
At her justification, his mouth twisted into an unnerving slight smirk. He wasn't one to offer sympathy or understanding to those which he considered naive. Innocence was only a sign of immaturity, in time the veil would wear away.]
Most live their entire lives with such ignorance. It only justifies those of us who rise above to rule through strength.
People live, people die. People hurt and get hurt by others. Humans are very good at inflicting despair on each other.
no subject
She had things about her that she would keep under lock and key but information and her emotions about others was a different thing. She understood what she was saying and she knew he was right in every aspect, but that smirk seemed to have gotten her. She wasn't expecting any sympathy or understanding. She very well that it was stupid to believe in things the way she did. ]
I'm not ignorant. I understand what I'm saying to you sounds ridiculous, but I also know that the things I hope for are not possible. I know that well, but that doesn't mean I should give up. I want to keep trying even if it'll end up fruitless. I want to be strong, but I don't want to step on others to get there.
[ She fixed her eyes away from him. That was true. She had seen it for herself. ]
I know humans have a long way to go and they're capable of terrible things, but it doesn't apply to everyone. There may be horrible and terrible bastards who get a kick out tormenting others, but there are those who oppose it as well.
no subject
Sephiroth's smirk softened slightly and he took another drink of the water that he'd left on the side. He couldn't lose the feeling that he knew better; in fact he knew he did, being so much older was just one of the many reasons.
But talk about how 'the world isn't so bad after all' is out of Sephiroth's scope. He did after all destroy the entire web of lies that he'd grown up trapped in. And the truth had been that much more satisfying in the end.]
Good luck with that.
[Polite enough. Not yet decided if he should actually be the one to judge her opinions.]
no subject
The strangest thing was the expression on his face. That mocking smirk that turned into something that she couldn't describe as she waited for him to speak. Somehow, despite all of this, he seemed highly intellectual, in a way that she still couldn't understand.
It was very different from what she assumed, but it might have been for the better. ]
...Yeah, guess I'm gonna need it.
[ She replied folding her hands. Somehow, it didn't sound as harsh as she expected it to. It was truly very odd. ]
no subject
She was only human after all. Sephiroth had nothing more to say to Ishtar and so, now a lot less queasy feeling he steadily got to his feet. Small, dedicated movements to compensate for any dizziness there might be - rather than trying to jump up in one go]
no subject
At least, she tried her best to think that way. It wasn't easy and clearly, they didn't have much else to say to each other as she looked off. She glanced at him as he started to get to his feet. ]
You going to be okay heading back?
