005 → Working the midnight shift
Characters: Wriggle Nightbug, Open
Setting: 21st October onwards, Any non-restricted floor (please specify in comments)
Format: Post in action, tags in prose or action
Summary: After being unable to fufill the candy quota asked of her Wriggle has come back in the same twisted fashion as everyone else. She refuses to let anyone else fall victim to such a traumatic death, by any means possible.
Warnings: Possibility of character death
Anywhere before 7:59pm
[It was somewhat of a relief, not having to worry about finding enough sweets before the deadline. They'd modified her costume, even though it was no longer tight the fact that it was made from a large number of dead insects troubled her. The tower seemed to like taunting her like that. Even if Wriggle could be a little slow she was not stupid and it was pretty clear to her what they were trying to say. They wanted her dead, right?
Or... hadn't they already gotten their wish?
She could remember it all. The pain in her chest as her ribs punctured her lungs and the struggle to breath as the collar of her costume choked her, not finding the air to scream as her joints snapped and fractured. For once in her life she wished her broken memory might have been a blessing.
No one deserved to go through that though, no one. If that was the punishment for not collecting enough candy then Wriggle swore that she wouldn't let that happen to anyone else. Even if she was nothing but a ghost now she promised herself that she would be a benevolent one]
Hey! How much candy do you have? I can help you look if you need more!
Anywhere after 8:00pm
[As much as she tried to push them to the back of her mind the thoughts just kept coming back. She was used to coming across dead insects, they didn't live that long after all but was it really that traumatic? Surely not, surely a quick painless death would be forgiving. No one deserved to be tortured like that, the way that so many others seemed to have fallen victim to.
There wasn't much other choice though.
She promised herself that she would be a benevolent ghost, that she wouldn't let anyone fall victim to the same fate that she did. If the only way to do it was to beat the tower at it's own game then so be it. She drifted through the halls, drawn to those being crushed by their failure, hoping to give them release]

[For emphasis, she's going to try and flick your forehead, Wriggle. She'll relent just a little, though.]
Think about it a little harder, will ya? About who ya really want to see survive this. There's gotta be somebody like that, right? [Then, as an afterthought, voice coated with bitterness and perhaps a bit of regret,] Well, unless they all went and died when ya weren't looking.

[At the flick of her forehead she angrily swats her hand away and rears back]
Shut-up! The only person I cared about was me and it's too late for that so there!
[Maybe it wasn't entirely true. There certainly were people she was starting to care about but as far as she could tell they were lucky enough to not get roped into this mess]

If ya only care about yourself, then ya have no reason to be worried about a bunch of strangers. Actually, that's weird too, isn't it? Everyone else who's died has come back slavering for brains or souls or whatever. Doesn't matter who is is, but ya seem pretty normal. Well, as normal as a zombie-ghost covered in bugs can be, anyway.
[None of the one she's seen, anyway. She starts chewing on another piece of candy, searching Wriggle for an explanation.]

Sorry this is so late!
Aren't ghosts supposed to be the ones still attached to this world? Ya sure that's what ya wanna call yourself?

Do you mean... Do you mean most people here are ghosts!?

I may be a little slow and I may be forgetful but I'm not dumb!

What are you talking about?

[but since she's such a nice person, she'll explain.]
It's like cards, y'know. Ya gotta know what to play and what to discard. [In other words...] Only a brainless idiot would advertize their weaknesses like it's something to be proud of.

But aren't people who think they have no weakness stupid too? That's usually what brings them down. So if I admit that I have flaws then I'll be harder to beat!
