[From Louis' position underneath, there was no doubt that his punch could connect; there simply wasn't room or the time for Sephiroth to dodge and Masamune was in completely the wrong position for him to attempt to defend.

And so, Sephiroth took a split second to brace and then there was impact. Louis' fist smashed squarely up into his solar plexus though the blow is somewhat dampened by Sephiroth's well-toned abdominals and also the way that Sephiroth allows himself to roll back with the blow. A powerful thud could he heard and throbbing soon reverberated painfully around his ribcage causing him to lose his breath momentarily.

Instead of crumpling to his knees as a less solid opponent might have done though, Sephiroth allows the momentum to push him backward to get the distance from Louis that he needs to get his guard back up. A reactionary wave of telekinetic 'push' force follows in Louis' direction to gain more distance. Sephiroth is prepared for the time being to defend until the edge of the pain has subsided as he knows well that it will shortly. While his enhanced cellular make up races to repair him, Masamune is raised back into a defensive stance crossing his body during this small reprieve.]

[Sephiroth never took his eyes off of Louis, and within a few moments he was ready to resume the attack. His ego was bruised enough to not let the purely defensive approach hold up for long. He knew well that attack and defense were needed in order to win any fight.

It was the second that he considered to change his stance that Louis raised his hands and spoke a word Sephiroth didn't recognize. He knew enough about invoking magic though, to have enough sense to hold off the attack. The second he saw the advancing frost line towards him Sephiroth dove out of the way; he had no idea how powerful or vast that magic would be and so he gave it more room perhaps than it needed.

Rolling to his feet Sephiroth quickly charged into an attack. A large black feathered wing erupted from his right shoulder; despite not being able to fly or levitate on this floor, one wingbeat provided significant additional speed to his forwards motion. He didn't have any materia, or any magic available for him to use and so he'd make the expert use of what he had.

Consecutive, precise slashes from Masamune followed one after another, an 8-chained attack intended to drive his opponent as close to the edge of the floor as possible.]

[He'd have used that great black wing now, to propel himself upwards and outwards away from the kick but for the flight-restrictions placed on this floor. Instead Sephiroth only could manage to barely get the momentum from the beat of the wing in order to lean backwards out of the range of that vicious kick. The corner of Louis' heel caught the side of his chin but it was only a glancing blow.

He wouldn't follow his opponent down around the outside of the Tower unless could be certain he wouldn't fall and not being able to fly made it illogical to pursue. Instead Sephiroth backed further into Floor 20 keeping his stance between the edge of the floor which Louis' had vanished down and the stairwell in case the guy somehow managed to creep back up the stairwell]
