Setting: Room 2-17, floors 27 and 5, all around
Format: Starting with action but I can match
Summary: Someone has priorities and goes looking for A) her wedding ring B) somewhere to put on her makeup and C) information. Then nighttime happens.
Warnings: monster fights, probably huge bitch introspection and Umineko EP7 spoilers

Room 2-17

[So her world was destroyed, then. It didn't seem all too likely, but it didn't matter to Kyrie either way. She was dead, and so was Rudolf, it makes no difference at all if the whole world is gone. It only means Eva can't tell the world of the truth of Rokkenjima. That suits her just fine. If it's true, it's almost a relief, at least they didn't fail too badly if it would all be for nothing anyway.

After reading the letter, she quickly finds her clothes within the trunk and changes. She pokes around a bit more inside the trunk, a set of clothes covered in blood, no doubt what she was wearing when she died... She would probably have to do something about that, if the only clean set she had was what she was wearing. The knife she slips into her front pocket, a handful of bullets goes in the other. Here's hoping she wouldn't have a reason to need either - especially the bullets. Those should be a last resort, who knows if there will be a refill box? She's quite happy to find her makeup, at least. That she takes immediately, planning to find somewhere to lay it out and fix herself up.

However, there's something very important missing. No matter how many times she looks, she can't find her wedding ring. It simply isn't there. Not in any pockets, not under the bed or hidden in a corner. But she would have given any of these other items to have just that small ring. She starts to panic and grabs the gun before heading to the door. It has to be somewhere, it couldn't simply cease to exist.]

Floor 27

[At least she's found a suitably reflective surface in the lab. So, for the better part of an hour, she sits at a counter doing her makeup. It's important to do before anything else. After all, if she's here, what if her husband turns out to be around as well? The last time she saw him he told her she 'looked like shit', so she certainly can't allow that again, now that she can fix her makeup properly without just moving blood around. It might not seem like a good place to be doing it, but, it's the best mirror she's found. Plus, the counter is perfect for setting everything out, including her gun, rather than fumbling with a compact in one hand, eyeliner in her right, and everything else piled in her lap. There are clear priorities here.]

Floor 5

[And so she finds herself in the viewing station. That certainly does look like her world, devestated. It's too bad, Ange was still alive, after all, she would have died so young then. But in the end, it's none of her concern. Kyrie frowns at the monitor, but shrugs. What can you do? She would have preferred to live herself, it's just the same with the rest of the world, none of them could change a thing.]

Around the tower around nighttime

[Throughout the day Kyrie continues to explore the tower, paying close attention to every detail. She's seen the monsters on certain floors by now, but, as night falls and they begin to appear where they hadn't before, it's clear there's something wrong. She feels a knot in her throat and immediately tries to move on to the next floor, fearing the worst. But before she can reach the stairs, she finds herself surrounded by a small group of zombies. It doesn't take her long to draw the kitchen knife from her coat and run at one, stabbing it through the chest. Unfortunately, though, that doesn't do much good.]

...And so the murderer, that would be 'the witch'? She didn't seem all too capable when I met her.

Yes, I would say that it was the Witch Beatrice.

[Kyrie's words send a chill down her spine.]

How would you call her...incapable?

She seemed to be nothing but a shell. That Beatrice didn't have the will to move. She spoke to us, then all but disappeared. She was still there, but she never spoke, nor did she move an inch. She looked as if she were already dead.

[Even though she hates the Witch, hearing this from Kyrie still makes her feel a twinge of...sadness? Whether cackling, speaking, or killing, the Witch was very alive. And focusing on her cruelty distanced Beatrice from that lingering childhood memory.]

That's very different from how I remember her. What did she look like?

[She had met another Beatrice in this tower. One who looked very much like Eva.]

What do you think she looked like? Exactly as the portrait. The same dress, the same hair, the same face.

She didn't look the smallest bit like big sister Eva?

[She raises an eyebrow]

Not even remotely.

I...see.

[It was bringing back memories, the very thing she didn't want.]

Was there only one Beatrice?

As far as I know, yes.

[Even that one Beatrice should not have existed. The human woman, at least, had died long ago.]

So she had turned into that...and the murders still happened?

That's right. She admitted she intended to kill us, but, as the riddle was solved, she conceded to us.

[If Kyrie was telling the truth, it meant that someone else had been the culprit in her timeline. Most likely a member of the family.]

[Just when she thought she could trust them. Just when she thought she could blame the Witch...]

So the deaths should have no connection the Witch's epitaph? Or did the numbers of victims at each scene remain the same?

[She shakes her head, folding her arms.]

No, it had nothing to do with the epitaph, they were merely killing.

Are you sure, then, that the family members and Beatrice were the only beings on the island?

Of that, I'm absolutely certain. Is it difficult to accept that your own family could murder? Well, there are the servants as well, if that's any better.

In other words, someone in the family had murderous plans, but in my timeline, the Witch gets to them first.

[And just when she thought she could trust her family too.]

Oh no, it's the other way around. The witch had murderous plans, but in my timeline, someone in the family got to it first.

Then...would you say that they would not have killed if the Witch was not there?

[She pauses. Would she have done it otherwise? Well, the witch set up the perfect situation, one in which there was really only one option - become the murderer. On the other hand, she was prepared to do anything for Rudolf. Even if the witch hadn't presented the perfect situation, she could have, and possibly would have. The storm was the most important point.]

Yes and no. Beatrice created a situation in which anyone could easily be drawn in to becoming a murderer. But, the storm was likely enough. If Beatrice was there without the hurricane, there would be no trouble. But the hurricane without Beatrice is still dangerous.

Ah.

[That explanation didn't make things any better.]

And now? There is at least one other family member in this tower, as well as a strange witch who claims to be a new Beatrice. And we are as stranded as we were during the hurricane, though it seems that gold would carry no weight here.

Oh? Which family member would that be?

[Considering her previous experience with 'witches' and 'Beatrice', that is of very little concern.]

i don't see any reason for something like that to happen here. The murderer wanted money, which does absolutely no good here.

[She is silent for a moment.]

...Battler-kun.

[As for the second statement, she only gives a quick nod. She still has the gold she took in her trunk. Even if money is worth little here, perhaps someone would still lust for the gold bar, especially if they had killed their own family for money in the first place.]

[She pauses. Battler, of all people? There really was no escape. Her smile disappears.]

Battler, is it? I'm glad to have at least one part of my family here, then. I'm sure that will make it somewhat more bearable.

[She stares bitterly at Kyrie. Maria had been left to an unknown fate in Rosa's native world. There was little likelihood that she would see her daughter again. Even though Battler was not Kyrie's own child, Kyrie could do better to appreciate his presence.]

I suppose it shall.

The three of us, then, quite the mixed bag.
