Summary: The tower taunts Rin when she's already in a poor mood.

[ Rin knew the moment he was taken from her. Any Master can feel the bond ripped from them and if that wasn't enough indication, the Command Seals along her flesh went dormant. In fact it was the hand she found herself gazing upon in the graveyard, sitting on a freshly dug (up?) patch of dity, the formerly vibrant red seals now barely seen against her pale skin. If that wasn't evident enough, then the stone marker with the name L A N C E R was indication enough of who she lost. Rin's never had anyone in her life, so for the brief time she held a Servant was the most social interaction she's ever had.

Losing him stung more than she's willing to let on.

For those brave enough to seek her out, they might feel a more ominous presence in the air around them. Yes, she's vulnerable without a Servant, but in no way is she weak. Willing to advertise that much, she hopes it's enough to keep people away.

Later on the evening, even if she's left, Rin will return to this place not to mourn. No, she'll wait around as though expecting him to return. For all of those jokes she often cracked about him being a puppy, it was her that will wait patiently for him to come pick her up. ]

[ Just one letter off from GAR, huh? ]

I'm not lost. [ Her confidence blinds her as always, as Rin holds her nose up in the air to match. ] I'm just trying to wrap my head around this. A heroic spirit shouldn't have a grave, right?

[ Not much of a subject change, but she's trying. ]

[Saber is silent for a while. She had been asking herself that question since she found the formerly intact headstone she was currently sitting up the other day.]

A heroic spirit should not have a body, Rin. A grave does not require a body.

[angramaintsu]

That's true, but a heroic spirit should also not have a gravestone to remember them by because no one is supposed to remember them. This goes against all of the rules of the Holy Grail War, don't you know?

[ It bothers her for more personal reasons, but she's not in the mood to talk about herself for once. ] That is why it bothers me. Is this place making a mockery of them or is it simply trying to help us 'feel' better over it?

[scorchedchivalry]

We are all remembered by our legends, Rin. If we are not remembered, we are no longer heroic spirits.

I believe this place is doing both. As you see, the stone says Lancer not Cu Chulainn.

There are many things about this place that goes against all the rules of the Holy Grail War. Does it really surprise you that you have encountered another instance?

[angramaintsu]

[ Tch. ] This place is pissing me off is what it's doing. I should destroy every single one of these tombstones as a reminder that they shouldn't provoke certain individuals.

[ With another grunt, she chooses instead to draw the focus away from her missing Servant. ]

And what are you doing here? With the way you dress, people are going to assume you're mourning all the time.

By all means then, do so. I have already seen to the destruction of the only one I care about. [She doesn't gesture to the rubble she is sitting on as she doesn't feel it's necessary.]

I am here because I followed you.

What was so important about that one?

[ There's no point in asking why she followed her. Rin knows she probably comes off as very unsettled right now, so it's natural Saber (a knight class) follows her to ensure that nothing ill happens to anyone else. That's the reasoning she conjures in her current state at least. ]

[scorchedchivalry]

[That reasoning was half right. She was partially there to end Rin's life should she go too far in her angst and harm anyone the knight deemed worth protecting by that stupid code of hers. But, she also knew Rin was without a Servant. It made her vulnerable. Saber just couldn't decide if she was also there to protect Rin against other Servants or if she wanted to eliminate her before she acquired another.

It was still, at times, hard to not be reminded of Sakura (and another) when she looked at Rin.]

[Saber gets up and walks over to Rin, effectively moving out of the way. One piece of rubble has S A on it. Another has half an E and the only other piece with distinguishable writing on it has R upon it.]

[ It's a jest. Rin knows all too well what it must have meant as she forces herself to stand up away from the ground, walking towards it herself. ]

Why is that name on a grave? Was there another Saber here that was overlooked?

[ Impossible. The look on Rin's face says it enough. She's able to tell more about the Servants here than she's willing to let on; the number has only increased since her arrival. The loss of one came with more. ]

I do not know. There is only myself and the Roman here of the Saber class.

[Again, Saber chose not to comment on Ruler being of the Saber class as well, even if she claimed her class was 'Ruler'.]

As these graves do not have our true identities upon them, I am unsure as to their purpose. [She frowned.] Other than to irritate us.

[angramaintsu]

Yes and that one is still alive... isn't she? [ Something tells her Hakuno would have been upset otherwise. ] Tch...

They are a source of annoyance, aren't they? Maybe we ought to ruin all of the headstones of possible Servants. I don't think it's wise for this kind of information to fall into the wrong hands.

[scorchedchivalry]

She is. [Saber's tone makes it hard to tell if she was happy with that or not.]

I have destroyed the only one I care to waste the effort upon. Though I will not stop you from destroying them if you wish. Perhaps you will find it cathartic.

[angramaintsu]

It'd be a waste to engage in that kind of activity all on my own. [ In short if Saber isn't going to help, why bother with it? ] Is that the only reason you're here?

[ Yes, she's going around in circles with her questions but honestly she's having trouble coming up with other things to say. So it doesn't take her long to default to another topic, one she needs knowledge on. ]

What do you make of the other Servants here?

I already told you the reason I am here. [She was following Rin.] At the very least, destroy the one that bears Lancer's name.

[She was hoping it would make Rin feel a little better.]

I have little concern over the other Servants. There are only a few I spare any ongoing thoughts upon.

I will tell you this: Ruler is continuing to fulfill her duty here even without the Holy Grail presenting itself. And that is protecting Servantless masters that beseech the Overseer for protection. She already guards Berserker's master.

[angramaintsu]

And why do you waste my time with this irrelevant information, Saber?

[ She's hoping in all seriousness that Saber doesn't feel she needs to seek protection because she's without a Servant. ]

You should concern yourself with them soon enough. I'll have to take one for myself. It's just a matter of deciding which one is good enough to serve under me.

This Ruler though... [ She must have been the one who warily regarded her and Lancer upon their arrival. ] I don't like her.

[scorchedchivalry]

[Saber did not think Rin might need Ruler's protection, but it was still something to note. Though as Rin continued to talk about acquiring a Servant, as if she had a choice of all of them, the knight had to chuckle, a bit of a smirk on her lips.]

They are of little concern to me because they are incapable of defeating me, Rin. And out of all of the Servants present, you have only the potential to acquire two of us. And one of those two has no need for you.

Your options are not as expansive as you believe.

[angramaintsu]

Think again, Saber.

[ Rin lazily looks at her with a gaze that dares Saber to object to her words. ] If I want a Servant, I'll take whichever one I want. If they have made a pact, I'll kill their Master and take their Command Seals for myself.

[ It's really more talk than anything, but Rin has done it before. It's what she had to do in the Holy Grail War at some point, although her memories of it are vague. Looking back up towards the ceiling, she falls into a quieter tone. ]

Has no need for me, huh? That's a good way of thinking on it. Even if I want a Servant, I'll have to find one that's identical to me.

[ It can easily be assumed she meant Saber, but really she was thinking of other things. It's not the ones that were twisted by darkness she needs, but someone who hated themselves. Who had no one. Who deep down might actually want to save someone. ]

Do keep in mind, we Servants have no need for Masters here. Not until the Holy Grail decides to make an appearance.

[Saber shrugs.] Though it is good to know that when that comes to pass you will once again be in possession of an inferior Servant. I have no wish to be your enemy, but if that happens, I will not hold back.

Such would be an insult to you and your power.

[angramaintsu]

If you have no wish to be my enemy, then I suppose the only reasonable thing to do would be to make you mine, Saber.

[ Taking on a serious tone, she doesn't back down from that powerful of a statement. ] Even if you were to resist.

[scorchedchivalry]

Reasonable as it may be, you cannot have me... [there is the slightest of pauses there] ...as your Servant.

[angramaintsu]

Now you're the one being unreasonable, Saber. You don't want me as an enemy, yet you're forcing my hand in choosing another Servant. So wishy-washy with your words...

[scorchedchivalry]

I have no need for a master here. I did say that before. [She drew close to Rin, pale yellow meeting red evenly.] Should the Holy Grail show itself and a new War starts, I may change my mind.

Until then, there is no benefit to having a master. Any magi I wish to serve now is by choice, not by contract. And it will remain so until the Holy Grail becomes attainable here.

[angramaintsu]

[ If Saber wants to be up close and personal with Rin, she'll follow her lead only to glare into her gaze. ]

You act as though you have a choice when it comes to me.

[scorchedchivalry]

I am not like the other Servants, Rin. I am very different; something you did not get the chance to learn in your version of the Fifth War.

And if you knew who I was, you would understand that. I am not accepting any master within this Tower until Sakura is brought here or I need a master. Master/Servant contracts are to be mutually beneficial, Rin.

[A hand reaches up to briefly brush a bit of white hair before lowering again.] You offer me nothing I need.

[angramaintsu]

[ The subtle gesture of gentleness seemingly calms the storm standing before Saber, as Rin gives a nod. Instead of arguing down a path that was futile, she cuts her loss when she sees it. ]

For now. [ She murmurs. ] Although if you're going to boast as to why you're so different, you should just properly explain it.
