Track 376 - Eat It [Open]
Morning - Cafeteria Kitchen
[Yosuke isn't really sure what's possessed him to come this far. It's not like he's ever had a problem eating the cafeteria food, but today? Today he finds himself in the kitchen, staring at a frying pan and with a bunch of eggs at the ready. An omelet. It can't really be that hard, right?]
[Sure, the girls all screwed it up, but that was because they were all genuinely terrible at cooking! No matter what he does, he can't do it that bad]
[Right?]
Okay, so... I crack the eggs first, right?
[Deep breaths]
Midday - Media Room
[And now that his mis-adventures in cooking are over, it's time for his usual pastime - wasting the day away in the media room! Today's choice?]
[Seems he's just kicking back and listening to some tunes. And whether it's nostalgia or something else, today's choice is certainly pop-ier than what he usually listens to. It's the upbeat catchy tunes of one Risette!]
[Approach?]
Late Afternoon - Music Room
Dammit!
[He swears after a very sharp and wrong-sounding note. Closer inspection would show that Yosuke has a guitar in hand and while it's not clear what exactly he's trying to play, he's certainly trying to play something! Judging from the look of frustration on his face, however, it doesn't seem to be going well]
Come on, I get to be on stage with Gas Chamber and now I can't play to save my life? I was never that good, but this just isn't fair!
[And yet despite his lement, there he goes again!]
[Good judgement never was his forte]
[OOC NOTE: Hi castmates I haven't had the chance to thread with yet! Sorry I haven't been around much. If you'd like to tag this post but want to work out interaction our characters should have logically had before this point, PLEASE feel free to hit me up! I can be reached via PM, on AIM at drunkkitsune, by e-mail at drunkkitsune@gmail.com, or send me a private plurk @drunkkitsune]

"Well, then we'll just have to make do with what we've got! But since you mention it..." Yosuke glanced over at her book once more. "How did you start getting called 'The Book Girl' anyway? It's a cute nickname though."
no subject
Tohko grinned when he mentioned her title. "Thanks..although, it's my title." She corrected. "I'm the book girl because I know more about books than most people, and I love them more. After all, there aren't many people who can talk about how weird the first draft of Peter Pan was or how Bulgakov burned his first draft of The Mater and Margarita in despair, and there are even fewer who can solve mysteries and help others just be using books!" Once you got Tohko started, it was hard to stop her..
no subject
But... she also has social skills, so it's not like she must spend her entire life locked inside of libraries, right? Add in her comment about solving mysteries on top of it, and he can't help but ask.
"So, miss lovely Book Girl, are you a detective then?"

Tohko immediatly thought of Chia. After all, she'd been able to save her from dying by just going on about Osamu Dazai's works. Tohko then chuckled a little. "How about you? Planning on being a rock star?"

"I'm just a wage slave, working for Junes out in the boonies. I've always loved music though, and I just sort of thought... well, the next logical step would be learning to play, right? I don't think I'll even make it to a garage band, I just figured it'd be fun, if I can get any good at it." Though maybe if he could con a few other people into it... well hell, a garage band might be do-able.
Even if Teddie was in it.

"It's funny you'd say that. There was a party a few months back and the band playing was Gas Chamber. It was crazy - I've listened to them back home! But here they are, young, before they ever even made it big, and they had me go on stage and play with them." He shakes his head at the memory, but there's a giant smile plastered on his face.
"I still can't believe it happened."

"Still, it was awesome! I guess for you it'd be like meeting... crap, what was his name? The Sherlock guy? Man, Naoto would know."

Tohko then thought for a moment before shaking her head. "I'm sorry, I don't have a favorite author. There's way too many people who write delicious, warm, wonderful stories!"
no subject
"No favorite, huh? Well, I guess I can understand that. It'd be pretty hard for me to pick a favorite musical artist, too. Still..." He casts another eye at her book, trying to figure out where he's seen that title before. Somewhere in Junes, right? Then it clicks!
"That one's... James Bond, I think? I always forget those movies were books, too."
no subject
The movie version of this book is different too. In the film, Bond is working to prevent a nuclear war from breaking out in America and Russia by going to Japan and finding out who keeps stealing their spaceships.
In the book, Bond is highly depressed, due to Bloefield murdering his wife, and he's botched two recent jobs. M, giving him one last chance, sends Bond out to Japan to get some information out of Tiger Tanaka, the leader of the Japanese Secret Service. Bond then learns a lot about the Japanese culture all while trying to get that info out of Tanaka. However, to do it, he'll have to kill a local 'botanist' and his wife, as their house is covered with poisonous plants and is driving suicidal people there in droves. It's really delicious! It tastes like a rice ball wrapped up in a strong piece of nori!" Tohko gushed.
no subject
... but then she calls the book delicious and he finds himself hesitating. That? That was a strangely specific description.
"The... the book tastes like a rice ball?"

It does mean he can tease her though, and he gets a grin on his face. "So then what does your favorite book taste like? I know you said you don't have a favorite author, but I'm sure you've got a book you've read way more than any other one, right?"
no subject
"Oh, I can't pick a favorite book. There are way too many delicious stories to pick on favorite out of the pile."
Despite those words, Tohko knew that she read love stories and children's fairy tales a bit more than most. However, that didn't mean that they were her favorites.
no subject
"Uh-uh, no getting out of this one! Even if you can't say it's your favorite, everyone has a book or a song or a movie or something that they always go back to more than the others! So what's yours? Come on, I'll share mine if you share yours."
... that may have come out wrong, but oh well! It's out there now.

"However...I suppose Gallico's The Snow Goose is just so sweet..it's like a rainbow-colored snow cone!" Tohko eventually decided. She wondered what this boy liked the most.
no subject
"The Snow Goose, huh? Well if that's the one you go back to the most, maybe I'll give it a read! It's the least I can do after putting you on the spot like that."
no subject
"If you haven't read The Snow Goose yet, you're really missing out. It's all about the connection between two quiet souls, a lonely painter named Rhayader who lives in a lighthouse next to a marsh, and Fritha, a girl who appears one day carrying an injured white goose. Ah..the love that the have for each other is so pure! Words almost don't do them justice!" Tohko gushed.
"..By the way, what is your favorite thing?" She asked. After all, he had promised to tell her.
Sorry this is STUPID LATE, feel free to ignore orz
"But even if I'm not cut out to be a musician, music's my favorite thing by far. There's just nothing like slipping on some headphones and letting the music just sort of... move through you, you know? Let it flow through you and get lost in the rhythm." Yosuke found himself blushing, and shook his head a bit. "Ugh, listen to me! It's embarrassing when I say it out loud."
"Anyway, I don't know if I could pick a favorite song, but the one I listen to the most? Well..." Yosuke trailed off, clearly trying to stall for time as he thought.
It's alright! Don't worry about it!
This was not teasing. Tohko was actually quite serious about giving Yosuke that title. Tohko, not catching that he was just trying to stall, waited patiently for him to come up with something.
But worrying is my greatest talent!
He gets up and switches the song over, a familiar tune (to him at least) filling their part of the media room.
"I think I've listened to this song more than any other one. Maybe it's the memories I've got tied to it, but there's something about it that just makes me feel... really alive. I know that probably sounds weird, but I don't think I can explain it any better than that."
But if you worry too much, you're going to get sick!
