02 | There are beautiful things seen by the astronauts

Setting: Anywhere not immediately dangerous.
Format: Action starting, but will match.
Summary: V/V can't communicate with anyone, pretty much, so there's only two things she can do: play her guitar and give hugs.
Warnings: None

[V/V does not speak common languages. In fact, she thinks her language isn't known by anyone else in this tower, or very nearly anyone. But she does know how to make people happy!

Those in the tower may see the angel walking around carrying her guitar in a case slug over her shoulder. She holds a sign that looks like this:



Upon spotting someone, she may wave enthusiastically at them. Do you want a hug?]

[Oh wow, shit. SO NOT THE REACTION HE EXPECTED. Fuck. Eridan flails a little, waving his hands up.]

Hey, hey, it's chill. Okay? Hey.

[Oh wow, now he feels like a dick.]

Hey, V/V?

[He steps closer slowly, looking concerned.]

C'mon, it's okay, no big deal.

[heavenscorpse]

[...It's okay? But she's obviously something strange and unsettling and that's not okay... Still, she lowers her hands from her face and threads her hands together in nervousness anyway.]

[chronomancer]

[Eridan let's out a huge sigh, shaking his head. Blame his natural Aquarius propensity for melodrama. He opens his arms for her.]

Come on, now. You want a hug and you damn well be getting one.

[heavenscorpse]

[It really is okay. V/V goes in for a hug, not too tight but enough to say what she wants to say in the universal language of hugs: 'thank you'.

[Eridan is really not one for hugs from random people. Or touch in general, but he braves the hug like a good soldier and hides most of his discomfort about it, patting her back gently.]

See? No big deal.

[heavenscorpse]

[Soon V/V lets go. She steps back, then taps on her guitar case pointedly.

She can play music for people. Maybe that will make up for the mistake?]

[chronomancer]

[He tilts his head to the side, then shrugs again. Those shrugs start piling up fast when you don't have his words to distract you, huh? But he offers her a lopsided smile and a nod.

Look, she's not looking pointedly sad anymore, so that's a good thing, right?]

[Time to get out the guitar! She knows a few songs, one of which she usually plays with no lyrics, and that's the one she plays for him.

Other people liked it, so maybe he will too.]

[chronomancer]

[Oh, that's pretty. He relaxes a little, expression mellowing out as the song goes on. When she's done, he politely claps at it, to let her know he liked it.]

[heavenscorpse]

[Yaaay~ After she's done with the song, she smiles at him, then looks around.

...Um, what else can she do without opening her mouth?]

[chronomancer]

[Look, Eridan is king of awkward, so he's perfectly happy to stand here and do nothing for a while, you're gonna have to make it more explicit that you need ideas. Otherwise, he's just gonna shrug.]

Something wrong?

[You know what, she's going to shrug back, since you like doing it so much. Maybe that will be a good way to communicate awkwardness.]

[chronomancer]

[Hmm. He smiles at her at that, and shrugs back. Oh god are they gonna get trapped into a shrugging singularity?]

[heavenscorpse]

[Yes Okay, no. Out of the corner of her eye, V/V spots a marker and some paper, probably left there by some other hapless tower resident. She goes to fetch them, and brings them over to Eridan.

[Oh god, he has to draw? No one said anything about drawing, he's kind of terrible about it. He takes a moment, thinking, before he gets an idea and it's so obvious he takes a moment to roll his eyes at himself.

Then he draws a crude TV, showing it to her with a bit of a hopeful look.]

[heavenscorpse]

[...A microwave? V/V draws a picture of a hamburger next to Eridan's TV and looks at him questioningly.]

[chronomancer]

[Eridan stares at that, a little, before shaking his head and drawing a stick figure inside the tv.]

[heavenscorpse]

[Oh, a TV! V/V nods eagerly, and pulls on his hand to lead him in the direction of the media room floor. Time to watch TV and not understand any of it!]

[chronomancer]

[He'll be nice and pick something he doesn't understand, so maybe once they can speak to each other again they can compare notes and watch it again. All of Eridan's CR revolves around movies, I'm sorry. He brightens at her eagerness, letting her hold his hand as they go.]

[heavenscorpse]

[Holding hands is fun~ And it makes sure that they won't get lost on the way there.

Once they reach the media room, V/V rifles through the stack of DVDs before pulling out something that looks like a silly comedy movie.

Physical humor always funny, right?]

[chronomancer]

[Eridan nods in approval, motioning for the stack of blankets he's gathered while she picks a movie.

Is that okay? He hopes it's okay.]

[heavenscorpse]

[Eridan are you asking to be in a pile with her already?

V/V grins and puts the movie in before settling down into the blankets. It's cozy and warm.]

[chronomancer]

[He's not asking her to like on the pile, but under it, there's a difference, and it makes this strictly platonic. Why is everyone suddenly trying to get into his pale quadrant, sob.

Eridan relaxes a little as the movie starts playing, mostly because the language of cinema is universal and you always know when to snicker under your breath if the acting's any good. Or even when it isn't, too.]

V/V is giggling at the right parts and snuggling more into the blankets as the movie goes on. This is really nice~ She'll thank him for it when she can talk.]
