Summary: Shion wakes up, and decides to explore a little because that's totally a good idea.

[It was like a waking nightmare, and it felt completely surreal. Waking up in the tower, reading the letters that had been left there for her. She almost didn't know what to make of it. There was no way something like that could have happened to the Elsa... And her friends.

It didn't take her too long to push past the shock. She knew she had to get up and get out (and get her blood moving before she froze to death). She found her clothes and her weapon in the trunk at the end of her bed, and as soon as she was properly dressed, she set off to find out what had really happened.

After finding it, she rode the elevator down, and when the doors opened at Floor 21, she exited to the stairs. She wasn't sure why. Some instinct drew her out, and downward. Past the restaurant, and very carefully down the crumbling outdoor ramp. It was possibly somewhere in the bloodied hand print room that echoed with tortured screams that she began to wonder if her instincts were really something she could trust anymore, as she picked up the pace. She raced down the next few floors, as fast as she could without injuring herself, until finally she reached the 14th floor.

She was tired, cold, frightened, and confused. The media room seemed safe enough, and electronics were a somewhat familiar sight. So, looking shaken, she sank to her knees just off the stairs.]

Allow me to go first, Shion.

[Because she knows how dangerous the tower can be. And Shion's safety is and always will be her highest priority. Once Wilhelm found she was here, he'd likely order her to keep an eye on her as well. Not that she needed that order.]

[uzuki]

Okay.

[As soon as KOS-MOS takes the lead, she follows.

Knowing now where KOS-MOS's directives came from doesn't bother Shion as much as she thought it would. She still finds it comforting to be with her, even if she won't see her awakened state for a very long time.]

[She leads her quickly through the floors, arm changing into her cannon in case any monsters come close to Shion. If anything got too close for her arm cannon though, she was prepared to make her scythe appear.]

[It's kind of amazing how much quicker that journey is with a powerful and stoic android leading the way. Thought Shion does clasp her hands over her ears when they pass through the 17th floor.]

[And KOS-MOS moves closer to Shion on that floor, protective like she should be. She places one hand on Shion to make sure she gets through the floor as quickly as possible before letting her arm fall back to her side.

And along the way, she scanned each floor for anything that could be used to keep Shion warm.]

[If only Shion had made sensible clothing choices in the past. But she doesn't feel the cold as badly if she keeps moving, even though it's making that movement somewhat unpleasant. But she pushes through it, and when they make it to the elevator, she ducks into it quickly.]

[If only. But if KOS-MOS' frame designs were anything to go by, Shion had a lot to answer for. Inside the elevator, KOS-MOS just stood beside Shion and waited, not knowing which dorm floor Shion had come from. Of course, a moment later it occurred to her that maybe Shion didn't know which floor. Most people found themselves looking for the room with their nametag later.]

Shion, are you aware of which floor your room is on?

[uzuki]

I had to go down two floors to find the elevator. The room my things are in is 3-01.

[She's hesitant to call it HER room. She doesn't want to further cement the idea of being stuck here.]

[KOS-MOS hits the button to reach the floor Shion had first boarded the elevator and waited.]

If you ever have difficulty locating me, my dormitory room is 02-13 however my maintenance bed was not brought with me. I have been going to the infirmary to ensure that my power cells do not deplete.

[That's a thing Shion would need to know, after all.]

I will stop in my room to collect the bedding from what was assigned to me so that you will be more comfortable.

[uzuki]

Hm, strange... Where is the infirmary?

[She's kind of like to see it, and what sort of technology it might have, since she had seen varying levels on each floor.]

Oh, good thinking, KOS-MOS. Thank you.

The infirmary can be found on the second floor of the tower.

[It's a well stocked infirmary though she's sure Shion will find it lacking in comparison to what they're used to.]

Have you stored data on every floor of the tower?

[She sort of wants to know about some of them... But then again, maybe she'd just rather forget they exist.]

Yes, I have. I believed it was necessary to make myself as familiar with the tower as is possible considering the circumstances.

[uzuki]

Good.

[Good, but still, it also means KOS-MOS hadn't detected any weaknesses in the tower's security. So the idea of leaving still seemed like a pipe dream.

When the elevator finally comes to the dorm floors, Shion steps off, and starts toward the stairs.]

[KOS-MOS steps off with her and heads up to the second dorm floor. She makes a quick stop in her room, removes everything from her bed and proceeds to rejoin Shion while looking as though this isn't strange at all.]

[uzuki]

[Well, it doesn't seem that strange to Shion, at least. She leads the way now, up to 3-01, where she heads to the bed she woke up in. She opens the trunk, and lying on her neatly folded changes of clothing is her connection gear.]

You can put those things down, KOS-MOS.

[She picks up the item, and opens a small port on the side of it.]

I'll have to manually connect. All wireless functions have been suspended, for some reason. Even what normally wouldn't require UMN access.

[She doesn't need telling twice, all the bed things being placed on Shion's bed before returning the the womans side.]

I understand. Please do whatever you think is necessary.

[It didn't bother KOS-MOS at all. She was used to things like this.]

[She moves to the android, and reaches up to pull a thin cord that runs from inside of her visor. She connects it to her device, then brings up the screen and keyboard to start the scans.]

This is just like old times... Well, just for me, I guess. [She sighs and looks up at KOS-MOS's expressionless face as she waits.] I really didn't think I would ever see you like this again.

[The data regarding all of KOS-MOS' systems will be scanned as soon as Shion began it. There was likely nothing she would find wrong besides the lack of regular maintenance on certain systems to keep them properly calibrated.]

I am sorry, Shion, I do not understand.

[uzuki]

I know...

[After starting up the basic maintenance, She retrieves the V4 mockup file from her database, and links it to KOS-MOS.]

That was your last build, KOS-MOS. The design we, Allen and I because no one cares about the professor, made for you.

[No one ever cares about the professor.]

It appears that my frame upgrades change drastically from this initial design.

[It's a bit strange to be looking at what she'll look like in the future.]

[uzuki]

Yes, there were a lot of changes...

[She almost thinks it's too bad there's no way to upgrade KOS-MOS here. The cat ear design was so cute... But! the console beep interrupts her thoughts on android fashion.]

It seems there really was nothing wrong with your sensors. I performed very basic maintenance, and we'll have to maintain a pretty strict schedule for calibrations, since we don't have the equipment here to handle any large problems. We'll have to stay on top of things since this is all we have to work with.

[She's pecking away at the keyboard while talking, setting up KOS-MOS's maintenance schedule. This is probably the happiest she's looked since arriving at the tower.]

[Fashion, design and looking cute were not things KOS-MOS worried about. Especially not with how often she killed things and got dirty. Of course, Shion had to remember that. She was the one that she always told when she needed to be cleaned.]

I did not believe that there were.

[No, she's not trying to be smug. She's not really capable of it.]

You appear to be happy, Shion.

[uzuki]

[Sheesh, okay KOS-MOS, you weren't malfunctioning. Great.]

I guess I am.

[She smiles, lowering her console a little.]

I know that, to you, it probably seems like we haven't spent much time apart, but... For me, it's been a while since I've gotten to work with you. Especially like this, since a lot of it could be automated with the equipment on the Elsa.

[She's not trying to be like this, okay? Give her a better personality next time.]

It has been over a month since I last saw you. I am glad that this is bringing you some pleasure though, Shion. I have been concerned for your well-being while I was here.
