Wave 1 (OPEN)
Setting: Dormitory Hallway, Floor 10
Format: Prose to start, but I'll match you!
Summary: This stupid collar is really stressing poor Tahno out. Luckily, all of the bendable water in the aquarium is pretty relaxing.
Warnings: None to start, but he might be a bit of a jerk to you (or hit on you), depending on who you are and what you do. Possible swearing, too.
This stupid collar on his neck was driving him crazy. He’d barely been awake for twenty minutes, and he already hated this place. What kind of place put collars on their residents? He had every intention of going to the bathroom to get a better look at it, but he only got halfway there before he felt the liquid flowing through the collar.
Well, he could walk all the way to the bathroom just to stare at it, or he could just stop here and bend the thing off.
At least, that was the plan. The liquid inside was bendable alright, but it didn’t help him. He’d spent the last few minutes trying to yank the liquid hard enough to burst through the collar, but it just wouldn’t.
Now, he was leaning back against the wall, both hands hovering inches in front of his neck as he tried desperately to damage the collar from within. His face was red, and his hands were practically white from the strain.
Man, he must’ve looked like an idiot to any passersby.
(Floor 10)
After all of that effort on a stupid collar got him absolutely nowhere, he was feeling a bit frustrated. Maybe even a bit inadequate, seeing as his bending couldn’t break such a simple little thing. He had set off exploring just to take his mind off it. He had taken the elevator down to the first floor, and then gone up. Most of the floors didn’t really appeal to him.
That was, until he found the tenth floor.
All that water was beautiful.
…The fish were nice too, but he really didn’t care about those.
It had only taken him ten seconds to discover that, despite being held in place by some weird mystical force, the water could still be bent. He’d just have to put it back in the weird no-glass tanks when he was done.
A few minutes later, and he was dancing with the water like he did at home. He could hear the roar of the crowd, feel the lights that covered the stadium, taste the enemy attacks flying by him, and oh it felt good.
The only problem was that he was showing a blatant disregard for the poor fish in the water. And maybe even himself, should anything dangerous find its way into his flying river or water balls.

Chidori watches the water remove itself from the page with a certain degree of aloof interest, and then turns her gaze up to him, lips pressing together momentarily. She didn't sense any other influence when he did it- not of a persona, not of anything else. A natural talent then and perhaps a useful one, depending.
"...an interesting ability. Is it common where you're from?"
no subject
"The ability, sure. Plenty of people have it where I'm from. At this level of skill, not at all. I'm the best there is," he bragged.
no subject
Honestly, it wouldn't kill him to at least watch what he was doing, though if he was going to be obnoxious about things... well. Chidori didn't exactly have to be nice.
"Is that right? And is that your opinion, or proven fact?"
no subject
He smiled at her question. It wouldn't hurt to exaggerate, right? Yeah, there's no way that would come back to bite him in the ass.
"Proven fact. I'm the champ three years running."
no subject
Oh, Tahno. How little you know about how likely things are to come back and bite you here in the tower. Chidori doesn't look impressed in the least by his declaration though, and simply closes her sketchbook, looking up at him with a slow blink.
"Champ? Champion of what?"
no subject
"Champion pro-bender. A competition of skill and wit with benders from all over. Fire, earth and water. It's a dangerous game, and I'm the best there is."
no subject
The tone in her voice is equal parts unimpressed and disbelieving. She rolls her shoulders a little, and then shakes her head some.
"Skill I can perhaps see, but I can't bring myself to quite believe the 'wit' portion of your boast."
no subject
He can hear the doubt in her tone, but then it seems like nobody has really believed him here yet. It's starting to get on his nerves.
"You think some idiot can just be a champion, then? That's not how it works, sweetie."
no subject
And granted, she doesn't realize that there's an element of strategy to pro-bending either, being from a world that doesn't have it. Which she'll cop to, of course, but not without sounding like a jerk, really.
"Though perhaps I am missing somewhat vital information about this sport of yours."

She's honestly curious now- if this pro-bending is so involved, she's like to know just what sort of things they get up to doing with it.

...That was easier said than done, though. He thought of a way to demonstrate, but all of them involved his teammates. He had that one move he'd been practicing with Ming, but he wasn't here... Nobody was.
Oh, that was a depressing thought, and he wasn't about to go down that path right now.
Maybe the icing moves could convince her? Those required such good timing.
He put a lot of the water away, save for a single bubble with a small fish inside. It was a simple hand movement that sent the fish out of the bubble and sailing through the air.
Half a second later, and the bubble of water had become a thin spear of ice.
One more quick movement, and the spear was piercing the fish, and nailing it to the floor.
It wasn't his best, but it was a start.
"How's that?"
