Summary: The first thing to do when waking up in a strange place is take in your surroundings

[For a second he thinks he's back at Hogwarts. It wouldn't even be that strange to end up there, all things considered. But he quickly realizes, even before the sleep paralysis wears off, that that isn't it, and this isn't any place he's seen before. As soon as he can move he bolts up, instinctively reaching for his wand-- which isn't there, shit. He's not even dressed in the pajamas he was wearing to sleep. Something is definitely going wrong here.

... Is that trunk at the foot of his bed meowing?]



[After finding his cat, but more importantly right now his wand and a change of clothes, Alfred sets off to explore the tower. If you run into him, he looks like he's just wandered out of a LARP. The effect is even more pronounced if you catch him interacting with any of the tower's technology-- he seems both fascinated and utterly perplexed by all of it.]



Eurgh, oatmeal? Don't they have anything better around this place? At least some cereal maybe? Gross.

Jason wants people to experiment on, Ruana wants friends, even if she does go about trying to get them in the wrong way, Dax seems like he wants to save us..and I don't know what Riki wants. He's pretty quiet in comparison to the other three Administrators.

[He's sort of afraid to ask.]

[Tohko smiled at that.]

Don't worry. That's a lie. There is a person here who wouldn't even be able to exist if his universe was destroyed, so they're lying about that. Don't worry about your world. It's fine!

That's sure a relief.

It is pretty nice to know that our worlds still exist. Plus, with that knowledge comes the fact that we'll be able to go home someday!

And everyone'll be alright when we do.

Yup! They'll all be alive, waiting for us to come back and say 'Hello.'.

The book girl? They call you that?

Well, not many people call me that..but it is my title. After all, there aren't many people who could tell you why Bulgakov burned his first draft of The Master and Margarita in despair, or how Peter Pan was created or how weird the first draft of that story was, or all the theories surrounding the creation of Alice In Wonderland, or why Doyle hated Sherlock Holmes!

So, that's why I'm the book girl.

It is pretty cool, I suppose..

[Tohko scratched her head nervously.]

..Is there anything else you want to know about the Tower? I may be a simple book girl, but I might be able to tell you a few things.

Yeah. People've been getting kidnapped to this place for long? Anyone tried escaping?

[tohko_amano]

I believe they have. I don't know exactly how long..but it's been going on for awhile. As for escaping..all the windows that go outside are too high to jump out of without dying, so there are now ways of escaping that we know of. At least, not right now..

There's gotta be some kinda entrance, or the people runnin' this place couldn't get in or out either.

[He won't mention for now that he can fly out a window, on account of secrecy laws. But that's definitely on his list for later.]

Actually..the people running this place are actually from this universe. And I suspect they have a teleportation device, but we can't get to it. They're holed up somewhere, but we don't know where.

[Tohko has dealt with weirder things than flying people. Tohko would be more amazed than weirded out.]

[Believe me, he'd love to tell you about his baby broom in great detail. But alas.]

Teleportation?

[If Tohko can deal with a person who has been manipulating the universe in order to save it and isn't even human, than she can deal with your broom.]

Teleportation..you know, moving something or someone from one point to another, no matter the physical barriers or the distance.

So no one else's ever tried that?

[tohko_amano]

If they have, they've failed for some reason..and the Admins can only do it because they have the technology.

[At least, so Tohko thinks.]

Plus, they're hidden away somewhere. It's hard to teleport to the Administrators when you don't even know where they are.

There's technology to do that?

[tohko_amano]

Well, you see them all the time in stories..and considering the technology levels of this Tower, it's not implausible to say that they do.

So what about going out the windows? No one's got anything they can fly on?

[tohko_amano]

There are probably a couple of people here that have flying powers..but if they could use them to fly outside, they probably would have already, so I'm guessing that they can't use them to fly outside the Tower.

As for what's going on outside..it's hard to say. There's a thick layer of fog that covers up the outside world. You can't see much, if anything at all.
