The Book Girl and The Egg.

Characters: Tohko Amano and Wretched Egg for the first part and anyone else for the second!
Setting: The third floor and then the infirmary.
Format: Either prose or action!
Summary: Tohko meets Wretched Egg and finds out that Shiro isn't all that she seems. She then tries to find out what's wrong with her in the infirmary.
Warnings: Violence, since this will involve Wretched Egg.

Despite the chill and how poorly she felt, Tohko was still going about her library duties, sneezing over her shoulder occasionally and almost tripping over small corners. While she never made a mistake in cleaning, today she was making a few, as she sometimes put a book in the wrong spot. After she did this for the third time, she sighed.

"I really need to visit the clinic after this.."

Tohko, having found that the drones weren't much help in giving her medical advice, was looking over some of the pills, trying to decide which ones were the best to take. Tylenol? Advil? Or some of the other, weird and unusual bottles? Normally, she would have just stuck with the cold medicine on the shelf, but she was feeling so out of it that she was starting to consider other options.

"I know they can."

You missed her point, didn't you, Tohko? "But in order to do that, they have to become tougher than them."

It was hard to get a point when the other person didn't even mention it. At that, Tohko sighed.

"Not all the time. Sometimes, the kids have to be smarter than the adults, or a bit luckier than the adults. Brute force isn't everything in those battles."

Wretched Egg rarely mentioned it. Where would have been the fun in that?

"True enough. Brute force isn't everything. There's deception too~."

Tohko sighed again.

"I wouldn't put it quite like that, but yes, other things do need to be factored in."

"Ksha~ Put it as you will, book girl~"

Once again, Tohko sighed..and held out her hand. She really would like her book back now.

"You know who I am, but what's your name? And please, give me back my book."

"Well since you're asking so nicely~" For a moment she seemed about to give the book back. But before Tohko could grab it, she smirked, stepped back and dropped the book that landed on the floor in a loud clatter.

Then she turned around and started walking away. "Wretched Egg."

Tohko sighed and picked up the book when Wretched Egg dropped it, checking it for any signs of injury. Thankfully, it was fine.

Tohko spoke to Wretched Egg's back as she turned away.

"Nice to meet you, Wretched Egg. And please, treat the books a bit more kindly in the future. They don't deserve to be kicked around like stones."

Wretched Egg let out a low hiss. This girl with her patronizing tone was getting annoying. Wretched Egg was starting to think she had been way too nice and patient with her. The fact that Shiro seemed to like her well enough was what made her hold back. But Wretched Egg could only refuse to indulge her violent instincts for so long.

A second later, Tohko's back was connecting abruptly with the bookshelves behind her. The whole bookcase trembled and books fell down all around her and onto the ground. Wretched Egg kept her pinned there by the neck, her hand tightening around her throat. The look in her half-lidded eyes was cold and dangerous.

"Ksha~ What about I treat you less kindly in the future~?"

Tohko cried out in pain, and her back ached at the sudden push. As Wretched Egg tightened her grip around her throat and spoke, Tohko managed to cough out a reply.

"..I would like that, of course. But..I wouldn't like you abusing the book either..or hurting my friends."

Wretched Egg sighed impatiently, rolling her eyes. "Shiro might care about what you would like but I don't."

"However, since you two both occupy the same body, if you harm me and then switch back, it'll be hard to hide that you are hurting me right now from her."

"Except that I'm the one controlling those... switch~ So Shiro will only see what is fine for her to see~ Don't worry... About her, I mean~"

Tohko sighed..and then smiled a little.

"Even if you are controlling the switches, I could tell her at a later point in time..and I don't think you control her vision when she wakes up, so I could tell her. I don't think you would be very happy about that."

Wretched Egg's eyes narrowed for a second and then she started laughing. "Ksha~ Look at that~ The little book girl trying to blackmail me~ How cute~"

Wretched Egg pulled her up as if she weighed nothing, slamming her against the bookcase again before sending her flying across the room. She walked toward her as she spoke. "What about I pull your tongue out of your mouth so that you can't talk anymore~ And then tear your arms apart so that you can't write anymore~ And then I could destroy each book of this library page by page and have you watch~" Now she was towering over her and she planted her foot in the middle of her stomach, pinning her to the ground and took her chin between two fingers. "You think you're very smart. But you still need to learn when to shut up~"

Tohko was going to reply to that 'blackmail' comment, but before she could, she was slammed into the bookshelf again before being tossed across the room. She screamed as she was flung around, both in surprise and in pain, and she bit her lip once Wretched Egg began threatening her.

Tohko tried to pull Wretched Egg's hand off her chin before she spoke again.

"..I wasn't planning on blackmailing you. I was just letting you know what I could do and what could happen if you did hurt me. It would be impossible to hide it from Shiro forever..and I would prefer it if you didn't maul me and the books. After all..if you destroy them, you harm not only me, but others, including yourself."

But she refused to let go of her chin. Stupid, stupid girl. "How many stupid things can you say in a row? I don't care about harming others or harming myself. Quite the opposite~" As if to illustrate her point, Wretched Egg pulled at the stitches of an old scar, reopening the wound. Blood started coming out of the wound forming long strands that seemed to have a life of their own. "And if you still believe I can't hide whatever I want from Shiro, then you really get nothing of what's going on, or of what I am."

Tohko watched as Wretched Egg ripped open one of her old wounds, and stared at it for a moment, puzzled. Why did it look like that blood was moving?

"..However, you care about Shiro, if you weren't lying during those parts of our conversation..and I know who you are..I'm not quite sure what you are yet, but I'm sure I'll figure out soon. And time reveals everything and beats the best chessmastering sometimes."

The wound seemed to close up almost instantly. Wretched Egg shook her head in mock sadness and gave her her most wicked smirk.

"Well I already know what you are. You are... incredibly... annoying."

And without any kind of warning, she let go of Tohko's chin and aimed a violent kick at her stomach.

Tohko looked a little puzzled as that wound closed up. At that comment, she opened up her mouth to reply, but she was was beaten by more of Wretched Egg's beatings. She cried in pain again, and sat up, but as she struggled with the pain, she managed to deliver a reply.

"..I..don't see how. And..if I am, then it's better..to be a bit pesky..then randomly beat people up."

Wretched Egg crouched down next to the now bruised - maybe even a little bleeding - and heavily panting book girl.

"If you take me for just another bully, you're heavily mistaken. I could kill you without breaking a sweat..." And without feeling any kind of remorse either. "Or I could prevent you from ever seeing Shiro again." Since she was the one in control of the personality switches.

"So no, it's not better. What would be better would be for you to nod to show you've understood. And to shut up."

Tohko sighed and tried to get a hold of herself as she replied.

"Even if you kill me or stop Shiro from seeing me, you're still just a high-class bully. Besides, won't Shiro be sad if she can't see me again?"
