☆ 002 : WARM-UP ☆ "All of us contain Music & Truth, but most of us can't get it out."
Characters: Rise Kujikawa and YOU!
Setting: Floor Twenty-Eight, the Music Room, or prettymuch anywhere else you want.
Format: Prose and Action both A-OK; you pick and I'll follow your lead!
Summary: Rise does her best to get in a little vocal practise for the (possible) upcoming Gas Chamber, Tower Edition show. Make a song request, pick up an instrument and join in, just listen...that part's all up to you. :]
Warnings: Event-related things, perhaps...or maybe she just has the regular flu. :3 Otherwise nothing.
Rise stood behind the electronic keyboard, shoulders relaxed, arms by her sides. Breathing in slowly, she hummed a low note (try to find the note where you feel maximum vibration in your lower abdomen) as she exhaled, one hand pressed to her midriff. After repeating that a few times, she shivered and huffed out a sigh instead, breaking the rhythm. But well, at least it was easy to make sure she was doing her breathing exercises right, since thanks to the cold, she could see every breath that left her mouth.
The cold did make it pretty hard to play the piano well, though--not that she was AMAZING at it even under normal conditions, but she was far from terrible, on the upper side of average at the very least. A singer who couldn't read music at all or play an instrument at least a little would be an embarrassment to her agency, and Rise was a quick study anyways.
After rubbing some circulation back into her fingers, she got to work on playing--and singing--some scales.
(It's nothing too interesting at first, but if you wait for a while, she might start practising an actual song or two...or maybe not. She might just start coughing instead...)

You're totally fine! I'm slow these days, too. //shakes fist at DECEMBER IN GENERAL
Once there, she shivered and pressed a hand to her head. That lightheaded feeling was getting worse, to the point where it felt as if she wasn't entirely connected to her body...
"Y-yeah...I'll be fine. I think I just need to take five--the cold must really be getting to me..."
Even seated, she swayed in place a little, as if any moment she might faceplant on the floor right in front of her, or else slip to the side and end up sprawled across either the bench or the floor at Hidetoshi's feet.
It's pain for both of us, isn't it //GLARES AT DECEMBER UGH
He frowned as the girl held her head, deeply unhappy she was sickening and he could only do so much to help. But help he would, best he could.
"No, I'm afraid I must disagree with your self-dianogsis," he insisted. "If you're ill, you should be resting yourself, not practicing out here in the cold." The cold was getting to her, probably—and dammit, he wasn't all that knowledgable on how to treat sickness. Rest, he knew, resting was good for recovery. So, what were her symptoms? (Keisuke would have been more useful in this kind of situation, with his aspirations to be a doctor.) Mentally, he listed out the ones he had observed: high fever, shivering, coughing, unsteadiness on her feet, and—
She swayed in place, balance teetering. A spike of anxiety went through him and he tightened his light grip on his shoulder.
It really is. :[ STUPID BUSY MONTH.
Another sudden coughing fit took her, and she pulled her hand away from Hidetoshi to cover her mouth, turning away as much as possible. Her shoulders shook hard under the other teen's grip, both from the coughing and the continued shivering.

"Please, use some common sense," Hidetoshi argued, feeling her constant shivering. "If you're too sick to attend the show, you cannot do your best, whether or not you practice beforehand."
no subject
With difficulty, she swallowed the start of another cough as she sluggishly turned back to face Hidetoshi, only the faintest trace of her usual smile on her face now.
"Guess I should at least go get some medicine or s-something, huh..."
Of course, that meant going down all those stairs to the infirmary...Rise couldn't help but close her eyes and sag in place a little at the thought. She hadn't gone there before since she just felt too tired and ache-y to manage the trip, plus she had to go there often enough for the collar check-ups. She didn't want to spend any more time in there than she had to--it gave her the creeps, enough so that her next shiver was partly a shudder.

totally not awkwardlyand removed his hand from her shoulder, now that she was a little more steady on her feet and safely seated on the bench. And then muffled a sneeze of his own into the crook of his elbow before letting it drop back to his side. Then he looked back at Rise, pale, shivering and unsmiling, who had sagged down in place at the thought of dragging herself all the way up to the infirmary. He considered the dilemma for several moments before standing up from the piano bench, and offering briskly; "Mm, I... I would be willing to fetch the medicine myself, Rise-san, as long as you give me your word you wouldn't move from this room while I'm gone."
Rise was sick; therefore, there was no reason to force her to ascend the tower to fetch some medicine from a place as cold and clinical as the infirmary when there was a more healthy person such as himself to get it instead. That was logical. It wasn't shameful to look after the welfare of others who were weakened by injury or illness. As a matter of fact, it was a duty of anybody who desired to hold a title of responsibility to look after other people.

"Oh, n-n-no...I couldn't ask you to do that, Hidetoshi-senpai...I d-don't think I'm that sick...and who knows, m-maybe taking the stairs'll help me w-w-warm up a little."
Still, that attempt at her usual cheer fell flat, and she did feel really tired and shaky, which probably made taking a bunch of (oftentimes dangerous) stairs alone a bad idea. Although, since he had offered to help her...
"But...if you really wanna help...you could come with me? J-just in case."

"But, you... don't look well." He murmured, almost to himself, sounding more like he knew she wasn't someone to be swayed to changing her mind than anything, and feeling unhappy about it. The female idol looked pale and tired, and she had trouble walking to the piano bench and he didn't relish the thought of her crumpling to the floor getting medicine. But Rise had prior experience in dangerous situations, more than he probably did himself really, and... maybe it was 'just' the flu and some exercise would help.
"Alright, if you don't mind." He nodded and glanced over at her, wondering if she would need a hand to get up.

Rise wobbled a bit as she stood, but she managed it on her own, then after a second's pause she started towards the door. "C-c'mon..." she said, then clenched her teeth to stop that irritating chattering and stuttering. "We'd better get started."

He suggested, "It's best if we pace ourselves on the way down," his breath leaking out in front of his mouth to hang there as faint white wisps from the cold. The room stuffed full of musical instruments was on the twenty-eighth floor and the floor that housed the infirmary was on the second; there was some amount of distance between there and here.
..Moving around in the Tower is, in my mind at least, a little like playing Frogger. |D Is that bad?
...Though judging by how often she was stumbling and how she already looked tired enough to just sit down on the stairs and give up after going down just two flights of stairs, Rise probably wasn't going to be making any suggestions on how they should get where they're going.
...How did she even manage to get to the Music Room on her own in the first place? Well, she hadn't been feeling quite this bad before...They were just passing the meadow floor when she stumbled again--and this time it was bad enough that the polite distance Hidetoshi had been careful to keep between the two of them quite suddenly shifted to something not-so-polite. Or, well. Something that even existed at all, really, supposing he didn't simply side-step away from her; if he didn't, he'd find himself with a very unwell idol pressing her forehead against his upper arm and clutching at his uniform jacket a little in an effort to keep her balance during the worst dizzy-spell she'd had yet.
..BD Of course not it's shamefully correct. Equal chances of getting of maimed horribly vs. survival
Yeah, that's kinda what he's wondering as they walk.First they passed slowly through the high-tech laboratory, moving past giant liquid-filled tubes lined up in rows and shelves crammed with various chemicals and bottles of unidentifiable substances. The high school student entertained the morbid though that if one had aspirations to be a deranged scientist, this ridiculously advanced research area was exactly the place to bring those dreams to life. He kept pace with Rise as she stumbles along, pretending to not notice her tiredness beyond concerned glances. Rise wouldn't require his aide as they didn't rush and he kindly didn't push for more speed.
The next level they descended to was, and Hidetoshi had concealed his grimace, the morgue, a labyrinth of cold, unfeeling chambers and autopsy tables and freezers to store the bodies of the decreased. Their footsteps echoed slightly in the chill, and in the distance, he kept hearing... things, or the suggestions of their movements, the occasional hungry, unnerving gaze upon them but he was careful to set their course away from danger as Rise appeared to too worn out to suggest how to get where they were going. It was a small relief to finally reach the flight of stairs that lead down to the next floor.
He would have preferred hurrying, but Rise wasn't well.
When they were on the meadow floor, Hidetoshi got only a short moment of warning before he felt a hand grabbing hold of his jacket and leaning heavily against him as Rise fought to to keep her balance and used him as crutch to hold herself up. He choked back a surprised sputter, nearly toppling over with her sudden weight before catching and steadying himself. He, remaining upright and coming to a dead halt, asked. "Rise-san? Are... you alright?"
The calm, flowery meadow was the safest spot on their route to stop and take a break after all.
+"Is it faster/safer to go down the stairs, or take the elevator partway down & then climb up? Or.."
Normally Rise would be aware of how awkward this must be for him, and while she did like to tease the older teen, she would certainly never go so far as to literally throw herself at him in any sense of the phrase
especially because HELLO, BEST BOYFRIEND EVAR = ALREADY GOT, K. But this was definitely not normally, because normally she didn't feel like she was disconnected from her body, or that someone else was controlling her movements..."I'm...fine..."
Her voice sounded oddly distant in her ears, and she didn't remember deciding to say that either, because clearly she's not fine at all.
A fact that was only proved even farther when she felt her body moving itself closer to Hidetoshi, tightening her grip on the unfortunate(?) boy and pressing her face into his arm in a way that was very nearly a nuzzle.

What what what what. No, really. What?Hidetoshi's confused face would have turned a vivid shade of bright crimson if he was anybody else, but he managed to keep his composure and simply kept to a light flush on his cheeks. To his misfortune, he does not know how to respond to this in the slightest. If he was stiff before, he was completely rigid now, and alternated between utter bafflement that she was claiming she was 'fine' when the female idol certainly was not, and utter confusion at the way she was behaving.
"... Perhaps we should sit down for awhile," he suggested slowly. Maybe it was the fever affecting her. he would prefer it if he could excuse this behavior on Rise feeling unwell. When she presses closer to him, almost in a nuzzle as her fingers tightened on his arm, Hidetoshi abruptly wished truly and deeply for a hole in the ground to open up and swallow him because he had no idea how to respond to this. But no convenient holes in the ground appeared since that would too easy, wouldn't it.

"That...no, that's okay...I can keep going..."
She could feel her knees wobbling even while she was leaning into Hidetoshi that much, and yet she was saying that, when she didn't even WANT to say that! And now she was letting go of his jacket, pushing away from him and taking a few unsteady steps towards the next flight of stairs, what was even...?!
And then suddenly, almost jarringly, she was back in full control of herself...just in time for her legs to give out, of course.
> What will you do...?

He caught her under her armpits and held her up with some difficulty. It's shame the unsteady, feverish female idol can't see the expression on his face because it's a pretty hilarious face he's pulling off here.
"I'm going to request that you don't insist on telling me blatant falsehoods," he said firmly. Can we please stop doing this, and just take a break. Stop behaving like this, she's throwing him off out of sheer confusion. "The stairs isn't going anywhere." Gonna try and ease them down so they're both sitting on the flowery grass so he doesn't have to concern himself with worrying about whether or not she's going to able to keep standing, or hurt herself falling down.
...Poor Hidetoshi-senpai. |D; Too nice for his own good right now.
"...Thanks, Hidetoshi-senpai...and sorry."
She hesitated, but after something like this, he definitely deserved to know what was going on here, even if it sounded like a poor invention of an excuse.
"...You know, it's actually really weird, but...sometimes, I feel like I'm not completely in control of my own body. I do or say things that I would never have chosen to do or say on my own...like what happened just now."
She wished she could turn or twist about enough to see his face, but her whole body ached, her limbs felt like they had lead weights attached to them, and she was just so tired...
Responsible, the term is responsible, not nice, okay. |D But he tries.
"It's not an issue for me to help, Rise-san. Consider it nothing." Responsibility, basic human decency and such.
Alright, perhaps he had overestimated how far Rise could push herself while under the weather without exhausting herself to the point of collapse. This may make finding medicine when they reach the correct level of the Tower difficult. When Rise hesitantly began to explain why she had behaved so oddly out of the blue, he listened and when she was done, he said with a frown; "That is quite strange. Is your fever affecting you or is it... ? Perhaps there is more to this sickness than we are aware of."
Hidetoshi assumed this was a recent development since she had made no mention of this before and so automatically links it to the other recent change he knows of; Rise falling sick with the flu.
Not gonna even mention the nuzzling or bring that up in any way.You (and he) can try to deny it all you want, but Rise thinks he's nice regardless. ( v.v ) lol
"...It's not nothing, though." She could tell that much by how much he'd tensed whenever she'd made contact with him. Rise herself could be pretty touchy-feely, but it was pretty plain to see that Hidetoshi was the exact opposite, always carefully maintaining a respectful distance. And still he didn't flinch away from supporting her, or make up some kind of excuse to get away.
Exhausted and ache-y and all around awful as she was feeling, Rise couldn't help but smile, and it injected an obvious warmth into her voice.
"You act all stiff and stern, and try to hold people at arm's length, but you're actually really nice, Hidetoshi-senpai."
He could blame that honesty on the fever too if he wanted to, but Rise would've said it even if her temperature had been normal. And as for the fever being the cause of that other, strange feeling...
"...I don't think it's the fever. I had a pretty high fever a few days ago too, and nothing like this happened before. Plus, it's just...a really, really strange feeling. It doesn't feel...right, I guess."
lateness ;_;
And she was... a friend, of some sort, and the high school student didn't make a habit of leaving his friends in the launch once they had earned his trust to that point. "Hmph. Take it as you want then."
The warmth infused into her voice when she continued on with her thought surprised him, and after a moment's pause, he dismissed that odd surge of frankness from her on the illness she was currently inflicted with. That, and the slight hint of a headache beginning to develop and swell in the back of his skull. was making it a hassle to think too deeply onto things like that.
So! Let's talk about fevers and how 'not-right' Rise is feeling. He contemplates her description of how she was feeling at the moment, and while he wasn't a doctor, he could make the effort.
"So the fever isn't the cause of your strange behavior and loss of control... Or at least not the primary trigger. A strange feeling? So, uh... is it a mental issue then? Perhaps the sickness is interfering with the signals your brain is sending through your nerves."
O bb, there is no such thing in my world ♥ BACKTAGGING MAKES THE WORLD GO 'ROUND
"I don't know much at all about that kinda thing. I've never had any real mental issues before, and my family's all fine too, at least as far as I know... So I dunno...why something like this...would start...now..."
Her closed eyes weren't helping her fight off sleep, but truth be told, deep down Rise didn't really want to. The nights she didn't spend huddled with one of her friends or teammates from back home could be pretty miserable, and oftentimes it was too cold to sleep. She was still pretty cold right now, but shared body heat made it a little more bearable--enough so to make her pretty obviously drowsy.
... ♥ ?
In the end, Hidetoshi settles on just listening to her sleepily ramble on without commentary other than short nods and a grunt or two. If she was tired, he wash't inclined to force her to stay awake. It wasn't as if the medicine was going anywhere and this floor was one of the safer levels to rest. Perhaps just taking a break from walking here would relieve his headache a little, and sharing body heat warded off the cold as well.
He relaxed from his tension slightly.
\o/ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Sorry Hidetoshi.Rise would probably be fairly mortified that she had actually fallen asleep on him once she woke up (supposing she was actually lucid, anyways)--wasn't that seriously taking advantage of his kindness? And besides, she had a boyfriend already, she shouldn't be doing things like this with other guys, even if it was 100% innocent (which it was).
But for now, while she's unconscious and oblivious to anything and everything, none of that matters.
