Silent dormitory rooms are lined with bodies--not dead, just sleeping. Throughout the tower it is pitch black and silent. At the base of the tower, countless shining eyes, watching.

The tower hums to life. Lights blink on in one by one; only the dormitory rooms remain dark. A small army of blank-faced humanoids appear and spend the next ten minutes taking various positions around the tower.

An order given. The dormitory room lights blink on.

Denmark is still looking through books, not quite sure he'll know what he's looking for if it's hiding, but he's taking them out and flipping through them before dropping them to the ground, anyway.

"Nothin' yet, but I'm not givin' up."

Norway just watches him in boredom. She might go back to the library later on in search of fairy tales or anything to remind her of home, but for now she's done.

"Whaddya think you'll find? A book tellin' us exactly how ta get out?"

"'M lookin' for a map, at least. Maybe a sketch'a this place. You know how sometimes libraries keep things like that."

"Ya plannin' to stay here 'til ya find somethin'?" Though her tone isn't exactly questioning. Considering the size of the library, she already knows the answer; it's just to point it out to him.

He glances at her, frowning a little that she's doubting his resolve. Come on, other Nor, he's trying to be impressive.

"Ya think I should give up on it?"

"If ya wanna stay till ya find somethin', do it. Don't expect me ta stay too, though."

"Why not? Aren't ya gonna help?"

"I've been helpin' ya plenty," with Schleswig at least ~~except not really~~, "Can't ya take care of yourself?"

"We're supposed ta take care of each other, girl Nor."

"If Prussia attacks, I'll help ya. Otherwise, we're not married."

"Ta me, we are. And Prussia's not gonna attack."

"You're married to another Nor. But you'll give him ta Sweden too."

"Ya don't know that."

"Ya think history'll change just 'cause you're a guy?"

"Maybe it'll be diff'rent. I'm here, aren't I? Don't think yer Denmark was in the year I'm from."

She doesn't look particularly angry anymore, just contemplative. At the time, she thought it would have been nicer to declare independence then reunify with Denmark, but she doesn't live in the past.

"S'not up to ya. It's up ta England 'n Sweden."

"Maybe they'll be here, too. It could change." The thought of losing Norway got to him, in a way he didn't want to even try to articulate. Anything he could do to convince her -- and himself -- that change was possible, he was going to try.
