Silent dormitory rooms are lined with bodies--not dead, just sleeping. Throughout the tower it is pitch black and silent. At the base of the tower, countless shining eyes, watching.

The tower hums to life. Lights blink on in one by one; only the dormitory rooms remain dark. A small army of blank-faced humanoids appear and spend the next ten minutes taking various positions around the tower.

An order given. The dormitory room lights blink on.

Canada tilted her head, she didn't really see the point of pointing out who she was with every reply, but if it helped him thing, whatever.

"It may be the case, but...Every one of us is different."

Not only was it helping him think, it was helping America get used to the idea. Canada as a girl was still a kind of weird thing, even if it did happen in comic books. Actually, probably it was weirder that it happened in comic books, because those were silly. Fiction was fiction and reality was reality, and while he was sure this was some version of Canada, if this was some sort of alternate universe thing, it was really weird and didn't mean good things when it came to that letter.

But comics being real would be pretty cool!

"I guess. It'd be stupid if they didn't let you do country stuff, though."

"They let me, I just had to stand up to them. Probably why you think I'm 'worse' than your Canada. I had to be to get anyone to listen."

Canada shrugged sheepishly and turned to the windows again, "I doubt it matters if the letters are true. If they aren't...then they have methods of capturing us from different worlds...and that's just as scary really."

"It definitely matters if the letters are true!" America said, suddenly serious. "That matters way more than anything else! But it's definitely not true because there's no way."

"I suppose we have to wait for our captors to appear, right? Until then it seems futile."

"No way, we should go find them ourselves! You can be my backup."

". . ."

She regarded him with the most skeptical look.

"Your backup."

"Yeah! Since I'm the hero! You can be the first backup," he offered, very generously.

"I think I shall pass."

"Why not? That's like, second billing! ...Well, I guess the love interest would get that, so third billing. That's still really good!"

"Third billing. You make it sound so thrilling. Can't it be a buddy movie,then I can get second billing."

America considered this, apparently seriously. "Well, I guess so. As long as we're still beating up the bad guys."

"I don't know, I think a girl automatically gets second billing right? Even if I'm not a love interest. Of course, we'd get--"

Ohgod what is this conversation, she just sort of stopped mid-sentence to contemplate what the fuck they are talking about.

"Get what?" America, apparently seeing nothing wrong with this conversation, tried to continue it.

"Ah--well...I lost my train of thought. Um...something about buddy movies with a girl and boy ending up with way too much sexual tension to be feasible. So I probably can't be second billing."

"Oh, well then it'll have to be some other kind of movie," America said, skimming over the implications easily.

"Is there any sort of movie where the girl can be second billing without being the love interest? How about I be first billing and you second. You can be the bad cop to my good cop."

"What, no way, the hero's always gotta have first billing!"

"Well I'm not taking third billing."

"Then take second billing."

Second billing? But what movie would that be?
