010 | Talk about changing it up a bit...
Characters: Sephiroth & OPEN
Setting: December 20th - Floor 4 (Mid-Morning), extending to wherever it goes!
Format: Start with my normal wordy prose, can switch to action if preferred.
Summary: Sephiroth's condition changes dramatically; well he wanted to be cooler...
Warnings: TBD - Other than the unnerving sight he must be by now. Add: Catarina sex/violence warning.
To Sephiroth, it was so hot now that days had started blurring into each other. He found it extremely hard to concentrate at the best of times and it had only gotten worse the longer this heat was going on. His focus was packed somewhere in the thick stuffy feeling he still had in his head; somewhere in all that thick mucus that wouldn't shift. On top of that the general feeling of sluggishness, sleepiness coupled with the frustrations of not being able to sleep well when he did try - all he seemed to do was slowly make his way daily down in the lift from the Dormitories and then make the slow, labored climb on burning feet to the 7th Floor. He'd spent hours just floating in that cooling pool, in the absolute belief that he needed to otherwise he'd likely cook from the inside.
Sephiroth was just entering the 4th floor from the stairwell when this torture suddenly changed.
"Ugh...."
It felt akin to being hit by a wall; a painfully cold chill hit him. Every pore of exposed skin abruptly felt impaled by icy spines and then sliced around inside - chilling Sephiroth to his core instantly. Extremities, namely Sephiroth's fingers, toes and nose, that were already well on the way to being more-than surface damaged by the real chilly temperature felt both on fire and in agonizing pain. He physically swayed with the impact of and must have blacked out for the second that it knocked the breath out of him.
THUD, THUD, THUD
When the world came back into focus all Sephiroth could hear to start with was the shocked-into-slowness sound of his own pulse. He'd fallen to his knees but couldn't recall his legs giving out from under him; in fact after thinking about it he couldn't feel much at all below his knees at all - he was totally numb. His gloved hands were holding his weight up off of the floor. Instinct it seemed had stopped him from falling flat on his face, though his wrists felt also like they were quickly weakening as the numbness crept quickly up from his frostbitten but covered fingertips. He was left staring at the floor; the limp, near-frozen braid of silver hair flung forward dragged on the floor as well - not that how he looked; white mostly and blue in places, had been at the forefront of his concerns in the last few days.
Since when did it get so cold? This was even colder than anything he remembers before.
And he was shaking. Violently shivering uncontrollably all over from the intense cold as Sephiroth tried to will himself to move. Slowly, Sephiroth near crawled across the floor to the wall, where he went about using the glass wall as support to get back on his feet. It was a painful, awkward affair laced with many failures that ended up with him crunched into the corner between floor and wall. He kept having to stop as well, to forcibly sniff half-frozen mucus back up into his nose; that flu was still a nagging annoyance but at least he couldn't feel much of how sore his nose was anymore. A small, double-edged mercy. At least the Floor seemed clear of monsters for now.

is it okay if I just put this post after Ishtar gets assulted by her friend?XD
Ishtar immediately whipped her head around to see where that damn noise came from. Sidia cluttered on the ground next to her as she spotted the man. God, she really needed to get the hell out of the hallway and away from guys. Ishtar was holding onto her sword arm, while muttering a few words of a foreign language. The bleeding that was there stopped. Hei had suddenly attacked her out of nowhere and she didn't even know how it happened. The only thing she processed was that he wasn't in his right mind and that she was caught in the middle of it. As soon as she escaped she forced herself to take the pain and heal it so that there wasn't much bleeding.
She wiped the swear from her face, before approaching Sephiroth. She had caught a glimpse of him becauseof that weird sound and it paranoid her for a moment. She wondered if the guy was going to attack her too? After all, he was deemed quite dangerous in her books, but for some reason he proved otherwise for the time being. She was beginning to maybe trust him a little bit, but not enough so that she would simply run to his side and fix him up if he was injured. She had to be cautious about it. She knew that it was better to be safe than sorry, and she approached slowly after sheathing her sword.
"Hey, didn't I tell you to rest in a room or something? How did you end up in the hallway and you look worse than last time," she mused worried, clearly she was stern about it but she showed some worry. It was somethings he got used to doing when she was always playing medic, healer and other things between those lines, "Hey can you hear me? You're not going to hit me or anything are you?" she added making sure that she was safe from being attacked. A girl had to be cautious after all. What a weird relationship she had developed with this dangerous person.
Hell if all her friends saw her now.
Totally fine by me! :-)
"Hey can you hear me? You're not going to hit me or anything are you?"
Somewhat dazed Sephiroth looked up to the source of the voice and forced himself to blink back the blurry edges of his vision. As it came into focus though, there was no mistaking Ishtar. Why in the hell would she think he was going to attack her though?
Slowly, green eyes came to rest on the bloodied part of her arm. Sephiroth didn't automatically make the logical connection between that and her question though, even if normally he would have done, his brain was working at a super slow motion on account of the sudden cold snap. It could have been any monster in the Tower, could make anyone bleed-
"No..."
He was staring at it now. Sephiroth forced himself to look away and to an undefined point on the floor. Shivering dramatically all of the time, trying to focus his attention inwards to the suddenly chilled Jenova cells in order to expedite his recovery.
sweet! XD
She ignored the fact that her sleeve had the bloodstain on it, because she couldn't do much about it until her finally replied to her, "That's a relief" she mused before removing her hand from his forehead. She was glad that he didn't sound like Hei who was visibly thinking she was someone else or something. He was attacking her mercilessly.
"You're really sick, but you probably know that already," she replied pursing her lips for a moment. Ishtar noticed his eyes were fixed on her arm and she tried to hide it so he didn't have to stare at it so strangely. She reached her arms at him, "Here, give me your hands, we're going to take you to the clinic and we're going to get you back in bed where you should be," she mused in a lower tone, so that it wouldn't sound so loud.
She didn't want a sick person to be yelled at, but it was a bit problematic when sick people didn't listen to advice and wandered all over the place in their condition, "You're really pale...did you eat or drink anything?" she mused waiting to see if he would take her offered help. Even if he didn't, Ishtar would have to force her help on him, seeing he's extremely sick. She wasn't going to let any sick person tell her that they were fine, unless they sounded and acted fine. She was a stubborn person, and a healer. Sou had called her annoying because she was a healer and she didn't see him since then.

"It was scorching, now it's freezing-" He coughed once only, dryly but did try not to aim it in Ishtar's face. At least that tore his gaze from that bloodstain, next he blinked he looked right into her eyes.
"This shouldn't be happening..."
The shaking continued, albeit in short bursts now rather than the constant it had been a few moments before. Sephiroth didn't notice the change much; every pore of his skin felt like it might split open it felt that cold and tight but without answering Ishtar's offer of help, or her concern over his diet, he forced his arms from stopping hugging himself and planted them on the ice cold floor either side of him, palms down. He couldn't allow himself to just sit here and shiver, moving would help to generate the warmth he needed.
"ARRRRGGGGHH" It was agony trying to push himself up from the floor with his arms shaking as if all the strength he so prided himself on were non-existent. But through sheer force of will he managed to get high enough to use his back and legs to try to slide up the rest of the way, his bare feet felt like they were missing toes and the bottoms of them felt like they were standing on glass shards.

"It was hot and now it's cold? But the air felt the same..." she trialed off quietly thinking. Maybe the Tower was doing something weird. She sort of assumed it was that since Hei attacked her. It seemed like Sephiroth's condition was also probably related to this Tower and whatever it decided to do to its residents. Now her question was, why wasn't she affected? There were quite a lot of people that were affected, she would assume. It seemed like Facility was repeating itself again. She narrowed her eyes a little but not at Sephiroth.
Her thoughts were quickly interrupted by his words, "Yeah...no it shouldn't be unless you're seriously coming down with a majour fever or some kind of sickness," she mused quietly. She wasn't sure what sickness he had but it wasn't pleasant. Now she was getting a little irritated with him ignoring what she was saying to him, "Hey, stop being stubborn and let me help you. You're in no condition to go anywhere by yourself. You're practically screaming when you're trying to get yourself up," she replied her tone hardening a little.
What the hell was she doing? Why did she suddenly decide to take this responsibility? This guy might kill her later for letting her see him in this state, because guys like him had too much pride. She knew because Duzell had that same issue. He wouldn't take the help and neither did Zero, or Yujinn. The closest people to her always ended up being people who tried to handle things on their own. She was getting tired of it...really tired.
She finally slapped a hand on his shoulder, forgetting that she was reaching into dangerous territory, but she was tired of watching this, "Give me your hands," she repeated again, this time a little more commanding. Okay, Ishtar you're going to get yourself killed anyway, so why not start commanding people like the princess you are? Seriously, she was going to regret this later, but a life was at stake, so there wasn't any going back, nope. She made up her mind.

Now that at least he was on his feet, he just had to move his feet a bit to get some circulation back-
Then there came a much more forceful voice and Sephiroth paused, raising his gaze again from the floor to Ishtar - that tone was stern enough to be at least listened to. But before he could think around a reply, a new bout of severe shivering crept out from his insides and he braced himself more firmly against the wall to await it's passing. The stabbing feeling on his feet would just have to be ignored for now; he knew full well they had already been frostbitten but it hadn't mattered much until now.
Next thing he knew, her hand clapped down onto his shoulder (not clad in his signature armor) and he reacted. An attempted heavy flinch away from the contact, though pathetically drained from the shivering, followed two green eyes like daggers into hers. Sephiroth wasn't really sure actually what was more painful - how cold he felt, or the pure stunning fact that she was right; that he just didn't have the strength to support his own weight on such damaged feet.
Defeat. Again.
"Let go." Commanding voice meet demanding tone, scarred as it is with the sore throat he's still suffering from. Sounding about as threatening as he can, shaking like this. It had quietened a little for the moment and Sephiroth used this opportunity to shift a little further into a standing position and thus forcing Isthar's hand away if she hadn't moved it already.
"You don't understand. I -can't- get sick like this, I've always been impervious before."

So why was that not happening yet? She clearly knew what she was doing and she knew he wasn't going to take help from some lowly human girl as most supernatural people would recline to. Ishtar kept her gaze on him, showing him that she was not budging from this spot and that he could tell her off all he wanted, but he was not in any condition to be left alone. She stared back at him, his dagger like look. Somehow, it didn't look as dangerous as it intended, though clearly it was a warning. She didn't care if she said too much, because it was the truth. She wasn't lying. he could be a jerk about it all he wanted but there was no way she was going to be shook off with a glare.
"No. You're sick and you need to be checked up on before it gets worse," she retorted, her voice devoid of any fear or nervousness that was originally there when she had first spoken to him. She wasn't trying to hurt his pride, or his abilities, but there were times when strong people needed support. People couldn't just be alone forever. Her hand was knocked off, but she took took a step forward.
"A lot of people don't usually get sick like this because they're impervious, but even so, this place, like any other messed up world has the ability to make it happen," she started in a low tone, "You can't expect it to be the same as your world. Shit works differently here, and I know it must really hurt you to even think about being sick when you're practically invincible, but this place is that kind of place that even someone as impervious as you cannot escape its grasp."
She learned to accept that, but not to give into it.

There was exactly all his most worrying concerns about this place all wrapped up in this girls rant. To be honest, he had to admire her courage, standing up to him like she had somehow gotten the confidence to do. Not that he was in any state now to be intimidating, but in any normal situation there were very few people who would dare.
Another deep shudder wracked Sephiroth's body, and he found he was holding himself again to try and keep what little heat there was close to his core. But how long was it going to be before his cells got too cold to function at all. Was that a possibility? What would happen when such a vital part of his genetic structure just ceased to operate?
Prideful as he was, there was no denying the truth. How far exactly would he get on his own? Crawling tediously down the stairs? Falling down more than a few steps could injure anyone. What if he didn't make it back to safety before it got dark, or if he had a secondary cold snap? If it was anything like the hot wave he'd had before, it could get colder still for him. The admins would love that. He sniffed creeping, cold mucus back into his nose again before burying his pride and gingerly unfolding one hand from it's shivering embrace.
"I really don't see what good it might do, but we have to try. I can't let them win."

Even with the acting, it was all still an 'act,' and his condition was beyond just sick. She wouldn't let him roll around until he died. At least, not when she would be able to help prevent it. Lives were important, regardless of origins. She had never thought to kill people easily. When he finally spoke up and offered her his hand hand begrudgingly, she took it without hesitance. At least, she got through to him somehow. She would deal with the consequences later. Somehow, she always ended up being quite a ludicrous person. Clearly, she was insane for even behaving the way she did with but it was to help someone out. She didn't think it was wrong and she clearly had little or no fear of what would possibly happen in the future after this.
When she grasped his hand, she mumbled a few incoherent, and foreign words, allowing something small to transfer to him. Ishtar had the ability to use magic, and healing was one of her prized possessions. Hopefully, this little amount would help. She had never tried healing in this manner, but a sick person was still in their own way, still hurt or injured. At least she thought so. His hand was cold just as his forehead was earlier. She gave him a small smile after saying those foreign words, "I don't know if this will help at all, but maybe it will help the pain some," she mused, "and no said we should let them win, but you shouldn't let them eat at your weakness. There's always ways to win in the future," she replied. It would just take time for it to happen.
"If you feel dizzy or anything, you can lean on my weight. It's not like I'm a strange to dragging big guys around," because she sure as hell performed her job when she needed it during all those crises at Facility. That was up to him though. She understood that he wasn't the kind of guy that would easily just take help. He didn't seem like he was used to it or ever had it.
We can extend this to Floor 2? Assuming that's where they are going?
"I felt something..."
He went back to curiously watching over Ishtar's face as the healing magic swirled around his core; though it died out much too quickly for Sephiroth to really know what good it might do, or for him to possibly direct it where the most healing was needed. His cells were much too cooled to respond to his will. Curiously though, the distinct tight, harsh feeling of his skin seemed softened a little and his feet felt more like they were standing on gravel now rather than crushed glass. Indeed, some of the pain was lessened but he still felt colder than the temperature in the Tower was - he was still shaking desperately.
Sephiroth didn't really know how, or with what to answer Isthar's words so he only nodded. After all, he obviously had no choice but to at least accept her help back to somewhere safe. Finally, squeezing her hand to get the leverage Sephiroth dragged his weight forward and took a step away from the wall. It was very shaky, and he used his other hand on the wall to stop him from toppling over again. The below-knee numbness had seemed to set in during the time he's been crumpled on the floor and his joints were aching now from the extended cold. Sephiroth let go of her hand and placed his on her same shoulder as he took his first steps back towards the stairs.
Nevertheless, he would persist to put as little leaning on her as possible - preferring to support against the wall if he felt too shaky to be able to put his feet down properly. At least to begin with.
Sure we can assume that! ^^
"It's healing magic, well holy magic," she corrected herself, "Something that I have a lot of experience using. I thought it could maybe soothe your pain a little bit. I've never used it like this before," she grinned not showing much more hostility than she originally did earlier. It seemed like he wasn't all that bad of a person once she got to know him a little better, though he was still a huge mystery. Ishtar would be a little content to hear that it helped him, though she didn't ask him directly. She could tell he was still shaking from her grasp on his hand. It was weird that she was holding hands with someone she barely knew but it was better than just leaving them sick and alone.
She didn't react too much to the squeeze as he started to walk. Clearly, he still didn't want to rely on her too much, because he had his pride. Not that she was complaining. She knew it would somehow ended up in this kind of outcome. At least, he accepted it and confirmed that she wasn't there to hurt him or anything. It wasn't like she had any reason to, yet. He was using the wall to support himself and she kept closer to the wall so that he could do that while holding her weight enough so she wouldn't lose balance if he were to suddenly collapse. She didn't bother to say anything snarky to him because he was trying and he was clearly inching into her assistance little by little as they got further from his original spot.
She allowed him to keep his hand on her shoulder when he moved and started for the stairs. She kept her pace slow as the two of them ventured down towards the clinic
