Setting: The media room (floor 14) December 31st-January 1st and the halls/room 1-16 on January 1st
Format: Starting action but I can match if you want some intense video gaming prose
Summary: It's not like Waver likes video games or anything. Don't get the wrong idea.

Floor 14, December 31st

[Waver headed down to the media room in the afternoon, planning to pick out a video game to play for a few hours, just until dark, so he could get back to his room without running into any monsters. Of course, he quickly gets caught up in it and forgets to look at the time.  He had an important campaign going, so he couldn't just stop in the middle of it!  By the time he realises it, it's already well over the time he had to leave in order to avoid the monsters.  ...So there's nothing wrong with playing for a little while longer, it makes no difference by now. It's better than going to sit in his room.

He probably needs to stop playing games of conquest, though. He doesn't want to be caught at all, but it will look especially bad if he's seen with that kind of game. After a little while he slinks off to look at the other games. Maybe an RPG, or an FPS...he hates that he's coming to learn these terms, but, there's really nothing else to do in the tower, so...!! As long as no one finds out, he's good.

Oh yeah, he's still wearing that Christmas sweater he got. There's a teddybear on it.]

Floor 14, January 1st

[Eventually he falls asleep, controller in hand, and within a few minutes, in big red letters, 'GAME OVER' flashes on the screen. He'll be upset once he realises, possibly more as someone sleeping outside their room is a pretty easy target for all kinds of pranks and such...]

Halls or room 1-16, January 1st

[Once he does wake up and realise he's been in the media room all night, Waver quickly hurries back to his own room, desperately hoping he doesn't run into anyone he knows and have to explain himself, since it's pretty early for him to be up for the day already.  And once he gets back to his room, it's a quick dash into bed. You'd think he was doing something illegal with all that desperation for secrecy.]

[Whatever is flashing around on the screen sure looks exciting. Lancer leans over the boy sitting on the couch with the controller.]

A video game?

[He has to keep from snickering at the teddy bear sweater.]

[He jumps a bit, having thought no one was paying attention to him, but especially that no one he knew was.]

...Yeah.

[Act casual, Waver, just keep playing, no big deal...]

Floor 14, December 31st

[Tohko, happy to have her senses back and to have handed out some presents, was going to stay up as late as she could as well, since it was New Years Eve. She had grabbed a couple of books and wandered into the media room when she saw Waver looking at a few video games. Curious, and wanting to say hi to a friend, Tohko walked over to him.]

Good evening, Waver! What video game are you going to play?

[nonacquiescent]

[Oh no, he's been caught--]

...! I'm not! I'm just looking!

[tohko_amano]

But..doesn't the fact that you were looking mean that you were considering playing one?

[Tohko lightly chuckled.]

There's nothing wrong with playing a video game. I admit..I've never played one myself, but they're probably not that bad.

No way! I just wanted to see what the fuss is about! Rider likes these things, so I thought-

[Wait a minute, implying he's looking on Rider's behalf or because he's following Rider's example isn't much better. Actually, it really is the latter, so that's definitely not something he wants to admit, even in vague terms.]

So you wondered what the fuss was about, since Alexander's always playing them, huh? Wondering if you could beat him? You probably could, if you worked hard enough.

[He looks back up at the screen.]

Nice. Which one is it?

[He can't really keep track of all the video games that come out.]

More like he spent all my money on them, so I figure they had better be worth it.

[That much is mostly true, at least...]

[Tohko sighed and scratched her head.]

All of your money? That's quite a bit..I guess you're practicing here so you can get your money's worth later. If you want, I'll play with you. I've never played before..but it could be fun.

[He mumbles, suddenly regretting bringing his own game. And he's really not sure if it makes it better or worse that Lancer seems to be into it.]

...Admiral's War Tactics.

[nonacquiescent]

Well, maybe not all, but a lot, and he never even opened them.

[He pauses, looking down at the game in his hand. Playing with someone might be fun, actually...]

...Actually, I've been playing a lot since then.

Just...don't tell anyone that.

That sounds like a bit of a waste..but it's good that you've been playing them. And don't worry, I won't tell anyone. I'm good with secrets.

So..what game are you playing? Does it allow for a second player?

So it's a strategy game?

[Sounds more complicated than a fighting game, and he's not sure how fond he is of the word "war" in the title.]

[ He was only intending to rest on this floor briefly on his way between others at night. But the sight of a young man dozing in front of an active television catches his eye, and he drifts closer to see what put him to sleep. Which leads him to... ]

You should wake up.

[ He nudges Waver with one booted foot. ]

You've lost your game.

[nonacquiescent]

[He grumbles, rubbing his eyes with the palm of his hand - dropping the controller to the floor.]

Huh? What?

[As he looks to Archer, he notices the tv screen.]

Oh, damn it...

[swordedpast]

You should cheer up, kid.

[ Is his smile just the slightest bit mean? ]

You have a whole new game ahead of you called, "Try not to get eaten by monsters on the way back to your room."

[ Maybe more than the slightest bit. ]

[He holds up the case of the game currently plugged in - Admiral's War Tactics, a military strategy game.]

I was playing this...but I was thinking of changing. I think it has a multiplayer mode either way...

[Wow thanks, Archer, he's feeling better already.]

Whatever, as if that's something I can't handle just fine...

It's alright, I guess. For a video game, anyway. I don't know if you can call it strategy, it would only be difficult for a total idiot.

[He stares at the screen.]

Oh? I guess the game really simplifies the concept of a war.

[Not that he blames it. Fidchell did the same thing on a board.]

[Admiral's War Tactics..since Tohko has never played video games, she's never heard of it, so she looks at it for a moment before turning back to Waver.]

Ah, alright then. Well, if you want to change the game, I don't mind..but would you mind if I played with you?

[ He doesn't actually answer that question; apparently he thinks it should be obvious. ]
