Summary: Amberley's poking around and trying to gather information, all while playing it as safe as possible.

Cafeteria: [ Amberley's got a big plate of something unidentifiable in front of her and she is grossed out. Is this the kind of stuff that the Imperial Guard eats on a daily basis? Maybe her expensive lifestyle had caught up to her, but she hardly doubted she could stomach what was in front of her.

Then again, if she didn't eat at all, she would grow weak. In a new place, this was unthinkable. So very slowly, Amberley tries to make her way through the meal. ]

Library: [ What better way is there to gain knowledge than through reading? Amberley's draped on a chair with a huge stack of books, reading at a pretty good pace. Occasionally, she'll nod and hum to herself, but other than that, she's completely lost in her reading. ]

Eh? I don't see how what time I come from makes a difference.

It does! After all I would have never been able to speak from someone from the dark ages under normal circumstances. It's a real treat!

Oh! We refer to your time period as the dark ages of technology. Does that help any?

Nope. Because the last time I heard about 'The Dark Ages', it involved lots of people dying of the plague.

Well, we call it that because you spent so much of your time dedicating yourself to technology that you lost sight of other things. Incidentally, in the future, we've lost most of the technology that your people took so long to develop.

What other things? When you're busy fighting off alien invasions, you kind of need cutting edge stuff.

[hegantha]

We seem to do just fine without your developments. It's not as if we've lost everything, after all. We still have warp capable ships as well as plenty of weapons to blow xenos off the face of any inhabited planet.

When I say other things, though, I mean devotion to the Emperor... or another sort of authority figure, in your case, I suppose. From what we know, your people emphasized individuality. The Imperium doesn't bother with such things.

What Emperor? Let's see, the world I'm at now uses a democratic government. I don't think they've seen an Emperor in forever.

Glad to hear you're taking the war to them though.

Well, they are. I work closely with the Imperium, but I'm just a simple remembrancer.

We follow the Emperor of humanity, which is what I mean. Democracy is considered heresy to us. Though, since you're from the dark ages, I suppose you don't know better.

... A Titan? Does every individual soldier have one? Or do you just have a high rank?

That's what you call them, huh? I'm a Captain so I get a special one but every soldier has one, yeah. The normal soldiers get a mass produced armored modules and personal troopers though.
