Summary: Amberley's poking around and trying to gather information, all while playing it as safe as possible.
Warnings: The thread with Tohko has gracious amounts of talk of murder and other grimdarkness that comes with the verse.

Cafeteria: [ Amberley's got a big plate of something unidentifiable in front of her and she is grossed out. Is this the kind of stuff that the Imperial Guard eats on a daily basis? Maybe her expensive lifestyle had caught up to her, but she hardly doubted she could stomach what was in front of her.

Then again, if she didn't eat at all, she would grow weak. In a new place, this was unthinkable. So very slowly, Amberley tries to make her way through the meal. ]

Library: [ What better way is there to gain knowledge than through reading? Amberley's draped on a chair with a huge stack of books, reading at a pretty good pace. Occasionally, she'll nod and hum to herself, but other than that, she's completely lost in her reading. ]

Nope! Nothing to be sad about here.

[ Wow, a thoughtful person was unusual to run into in her line of work. ]

Would you like to sit down?

[chainsawn]

.. Sure. [ The pause was mostly out of surprise, but it's not like anyone would be able to tell that with someone as blank as Urotsuki. So she just nods slightly, moving to sit down on the table as well. ]

I'm glad you're not sad though. There's already enough sad people here, so it's nice to have some more happy ones.

Oh? Would you mind telling me what there is to be so sad about?

[chainsawn]

I guess maybe some people must miss their worlds? [ She's pretty much thinking about it herself, really, she can't really imagine it herself. Urotsuki doesn't mind being here, after all. ]

Or maybe their friends who they left behind back home.

[hegantha]

[ Ah, she supposed that was natural. But in her line of work, she was often separated from loved ones for long amounts of time. She was used to it, and she wasn't going to start missing anyone soon. ]

Don't you have people you miss?

[chainsawn]

Not really. I didn't have many people around me back home.

[ She just openly admits it. ]

So there isn't anyone really to miss. This is just like usually.

[hegantha]

[ Huh. Out of everyone so far, she found Urotsuki easiest to talk to. She reminds her of Jurgen, just you know, without the odor. ]

That sounds rather convenient! I'm used to being separated from people I care about for long periods of time, so it doesn't bother me much either.

[chainsawn]

Used to it.. [ .. Hmm. She's trying to think of what could be the reason for that here. Of course she thinks of the reasons her parents are never around first.. ]

Do you maybe work a lot? Or travel?

[hegantha]

I do work a lot, and my work involves a lot of travel.

[chainsawn]

Ah... I knew it. [ She nods to herself more. ]

It's a little like my parents. That's why they don't spend time with the people they care for a lot either.

[ Saying something that sad (since 'people they care for' obviously implies herself) with a completely blank tone and expression? Yup. ]

[ Oh oops, wow, way to be sensitive, Amberley. ]

If it makes you feel better, I don't have any kids, and the people that I care about are just as busy as I am.

[chainsawn]

[ There's a small nod. Honestly, she's so used to her parents' absence and now her stay here that it isn't as much of an issue anymore for her. ]

So nobody notices, huh? Maybe that's sort of sad too, in a way..

[hegantha]

If I'm not sad about it, then it's fine, right?

[ Urotsuki she's trying to cheer you up stap ]

[chainsawn]

[ SHE CAN'T STAP.. she just never picks up on social cues like that, okay. ]

... I guess it is. [ sounds reasonable enough to her. ] I mean, if you like travelling, then maybe it's actually fun.

[hegantha]

Yes! I think seeing new places and meeting new people is rather fun.

[ Yes good this is an upbeat topic. ]

[chainsawn]

[ Let's keep the good times rolling!! ]

Me too. I mean.. I haven't travalled much before, but I like exploring. There's a lot to explore here, so I'm happy. [ Despite, you know, her blankness. ]

[hegantha]

[ Everyone likes good times. ]

I'm glad you're happy! [ She sounds really relieved since it's hard to tell what Urotsuki's thinking. ]

[chainsawn]

[ It really is. But good guessing at least, Amberley. ]

.. Really? You care whether I'm happy or not?

Of course? Why wouldn't I?

[chainsawn]

Well.. I think there are a lot of people that don't really care about whether other people are happy or not. They just care about whether they are happy or not..

[hegantha]

Well, it's not that you're wrong, I'm just not one of those people.

[ And for once, she isn't lying. Amberley genuinely tends to care for other people. ]

[chainsawn]

[ Hey, Urotsuki wouldn't be able to guess when she's lying and when she isn't either way. So she believes this as much as she does the rest, smiling a little. ]

So you're a kind person. I'm glad for that.

I have my moments, I suppose.
