Summary: Amberley's poking around and trying to gather information, all while playing it as safe as possible.
Warnings: The thread with Tohko has gracious amounts of talk of murder and other grimdarkness that comes with the verse.

Cafeteria: [ Amberley's got a big plate of something unidentifiable in front of her and she is grossed out. Is this the kind of stuff that the Imperial Guard eats on a daily basis? Maybe her expensive lifestyle had caught up to her, but she hardly doubted she could stomach what was in front of her.

Then again, if she didn't eat at all, she would grow weak. In a new place, this was unthinkable. So very slowly, Amberley tries to make her way through the meal. ]

Library: [ What better way is there to gain knowledge than through reading? Amberley's draped on a chair with a huge stack of books, reading at a pretty good pace. Occasionally, she'll nod and hum to herself, but other than that, she's completely lost in her reading. ]

That seems like an odd requirement.

[ She looks up and down her arms as casually as possible, looking for a mark from an injection of drugs somewhere. Nothing she can see, at least... ]

[idolizer]

I know, but nobody has a say about it. At least it's not frog entrails or something worse. [ Wiiiince. ]

[hegantha]

[ She can't help but laugh at that. ]

Frog entrails? You have a good imagination.

[ She takes another bite, suddenly relieved that she's not eating animal innards. ]

[idolizer]

That's not even comparable to the stuff that happens to people here, so it's not much of a stretch.

[ Well, at least the woman's laughing. Sayaka sighs, resting her chin against her hand. ]

[hegantha]

[ Well, that catches her attention. ]

Is it that bad? So far I haven't seen anything that is too dangerous.

[idolizer]

I haven't experienced anything that much terrible firsthand, but I heard of most people who did. [ Just saying the details would make her shiver. ] The administrators are hell bent on expetimenting on us for some reason, but one of them is especially awful. His name is Jason.

[hegantha]

If it's not too much for you, would you mind telling me about some of the experiments?

Of course, you don't need to. After all, I wouldn't want you to feel uncomfortable.

[idolizer]

Well...

[ There's some hesitation, but she'll answer. She would feel truly uncomfortable if she experienced any of those experiments first-hand. ]

I wasn't victim of those, but last Halloween there was an event in which people were forced into costumes, and asked to gather a certain number of candies in order to keep the costumes from crushing their bodies. Those who failed died, and returned as monsters that attacked the survivors.

[hegantha]

[ Now that's nothing to laugh about. ]

Thank you for warning me. I'll do my best to keep my wits about me.

[idolizer]

You're welcome. Everyone deserves to know about this, and protect themselves accordingly. Even if they're going to make it hard for you. [ No sugarcoating. If bad things are going to happen, there's little time to brace for it.

Also, introductions are due by now. ] My name is Sayaka Maizono. I haven't been here long, but I heard about this place through second-hand information.

Amberly Vail. And I agree, there's no reason to sugarcoat things when it'll just end with more causalities.

[idolizer]

Yeah. The only positive thing is that most people here will be helpful and welcoming, so if you need help, the best way is to use the network.

[hegantha]

That's wonderful. I'm glad everyone is working together, it makes situations like these a lot more bearable!

[idolizer]

Uh-huh. Of course there are also other kinds of people, but they seem to be the minority here.

[hegantha]

Of course. Not everyone can be agreeable, after all.

[idolizer]

Yeah. You'll have to watch out for those people. They tend to cause trouble, or are just plain weird. But I know a couple of odd people who are harmless, too.

Luckily, I manage to be pretty good at looking out for myself. Thank you for your concern, though.

[idolizer]

Well, that's good to hear. I don't know you, so I assumed. Sorry.

[hegantha]

There's hardly anything to apologize for! You are a very kind young lady.

Thank you, I just try to be helpful, you know? There are better people out there.
