1: Waking up

Summary: Aradia wakes up and would like to know where she is.

[Waking up petrified is one of the scariest things she's ever experienced, the complete lack of control putting her on edge. She systematically tries to move her limbs without success. Just before she starts panicking completely she regains control over her body and he muscles spasm under the strain of her efforts.

She falls to the ground, unfamiliar with the dimensions of a bed. She groans as her head hits the floor, groping around for the bed so she can pull herself to her feet again. She manages to get her hands around the footrest after a few times and straightens herself. So far so good. Good thing no one else was in the room.

She takes a look around, four beds in the room, all the same as hers. There's a trunk at the foot of each bed but her intention is drawn to whatever is lying on top of it.

Two letters explaining her how her world is destroyed and where she is now and neither of them satisfactory.

She moves to the door and opens it carefully, peeking outside. The light catches her off guard but the clouds filter it enough to make it bearable.]

No, but I think that's a highblood thing in general instead of a blue bloods thing.

I'm not really convinced there's any significant distinction between the two definitions. Not in this case, at least. I don't know, once you get higher, the approach seems to change also.

But then, my experience there is somewhat limited.

I think it depends on the place on the hemocaste you take yourself. Most highbloods were pretty cold to a rustblood like me.

You lived pretty far away from any other trolls, right?

Well, you know how it was. Or I guess not, since you wouldn't have seen the desert in daylight. I'd only really met a couple of our group in person prior to the game.

It would have been too bright in daylight. But after flying so close to the Green Sun it should be fine now. If we ever come back I would like to come visit during the day sometime. If that's okay with you of course.

Most of us lived pretty far away from the cities, it would've been difficult to visit each other.

Well, it isn't really there anymore, even without the assertions of the local management. Besides, I doubt you'd like the company. I wasn't the only one there who woke with the dawn.

You weren't? What else lives in the middle of the desert?

The shambling undead. Not a terribly pleasant run-in for anyone, I generally tried to avoid them.

...I've met another member of my caste who claims to have hunted them for his amusement. Make of that what you will.

If it's the undead I think I can deal with those. [She smiles. It's one of the very few adventages about growing up with the dead whispering in your ears.]

That doesn't sound very nice, I thought your caste was mostly peaceful? [Or was that only to living creatures?]

That's not easy to say, really. So far we have a sampling pool of...two. And I'm not sure calling me strictly "peaceful" would be entirely accurate.

No, I guess not. We are a violent race by nature after all. Still, your caste holds the matriorb and hatches the mother grub. That has to count for something.
