[ She nods, looking away. Honestly, she doesn't want to tell him that she hurt herself trying to get back to them. Jade shivers as his thumb brushes over her cuts. ]

I-- [ Her words fall short. ] I'm sorry. I didn't mean to -- but I thought you were gone forever. All of you.

.... We thought you were gone too... But you're back here, alright? And you're not going to be leaving again...

[He squeezes her hand tightly. He was going to make sure of it.]

We're almost at the infirmary, how bad do they hurt.

A lot.

[ She frowns. ]

You...don't want another Jade, right? You didn't wish for someone...braver?

Hold on, we'll bandage them back up...

[He stops and looks at her, shaking his head...]

No. Never. Why would I want another Jade?

Because I'm not very cool. I mean...I used to be, but I'm not anymore. I keep hurting myself.

Jade. [He looks very serious now, facing her straight on, staring at her through his shades.] You are very cool. Very, awesomely, cool. Understand?

[Dave forces a small tug at the corner of his mouth into a smile.]

... And you'll never stop being cool.

[ She can't figure out anything to say, she she just looks at her toes, smiling. ]

Mhm.

..... [Dave sort of reluctantly holds his arms out to her for an embrace, a gesture he isn't familiar with at all.

We're doing it man.
We're making it HAPEN.]

[ She looks up at him and hesitates.
Is he really offering her a hug?

Jade's a little nervous, but she steps into his embrace, wrapping her arms around him. It's like that month in the castle never happened; she's as skinny as ever, maybe skinnier, body almost shaking in the cold of the Tower. But she's just glad that he still wants to be her friend. ]

[Dave's kind of awkwardly hugging her, wishing he were better at this.
How does he comfort people????
He really doesn't know.]

We're gonna make sure you stick with us, 'kay? Bear with us, we'll get back home and kick all kinds of ass together.

[ She buries her head in his shoulder. ]

I don't want to go back alone.
