Yotsuba!&-

Characters: Yotsuba Koiwai and you!
Setting: Outside room 02-07.
Format: Starting with prose, but I'll match you.
Summary: Yotsuba has just woken up, and she's looking for her Daddy and dealing with the Tower.
Warnings: She might end up crying if you're a bit too rough with her. Or you might scare her with birds and bird-like objects.

Yotsuba blinked her eyes open as she started to wake up and sat up. This place wasn't her room..and Daddy wasn't in bed beside her. And this white ou-..outfit weren't her pajamas. Ignoring the notes that lay on her trunk, Yotsuba ran out of bed and, slamming the door open, ran out into the halls.

"Daddy!? Daddy?!! Where are you?"

She laughs a little.

"No wonder you're hungry then! Would you like to go to the cafeteria to get something?"

The cafeteria should have the obligatory first meal in stock, she doesn't want Yotsuba to get sick for not eating it.

Yotsuba smiled and nodded before looking around.

"I would like to! Where is the caf..cafeteria?"

"All the way down! We could take the elevator."

Which would probably be safer than the stairs too.

"Elevator?"

Yotsuba had encountered escalators before..but not elevators.

[fiesta_de_los_muertos]

"It's like a moving box, and it will take us all the way down really fast!"

Aradia was a little excited about the elevators herself. There weren't any on Alternia and it would be a real pain to descend all those floors every time she wanted a meal.

At that description, Yotsuba brightened up, excited and happy.

"Yotsuba wants to ride the elevator! Where is it?!"

[fiesta_de_los_muertos]

"I think we can get on on all the dormitory floors so..." She points down the hall, "that way."

[sunflowerfairy]

"Okay! Let's go!~"

Yotsuba would run a few feet forward before stopping to look back, smiling all the while.

"Come on Arada, or I'll leave you behind!"

Something her father had said often.

[fiesta_de_los_muertos]

"I'm coming!" She follows Yotsuba a couple of paces behind to study the young girl more closely. She's glad that she doesn't seem too upset by her current situation, but of course there is no guarantee that won't come later.

They reach the elevator and Aradia pushes the button to summon it. It only takes a short while for it to arrive and the doors slide open.

"Well, let's get in there."

Smiling, Yotsuba waited to catch up and kept on running forward. However, she always made sure that Aradia was a few paces behind her. After all, Daddy didn't like it when she wandered too far off, so maybe she wouldn't either.

When they reached the elevator and the doors opened, her eyes widened in surprise and amazement. Quickly, she wandered in, looking at everything, and her eyes caught the buttons.

"Which one do I press?!"

She's glad Yotsuba doesn't run off to far, she thinks Yotsuba wouldn't do too bad on her own but she feels a little responsible for the little girl.

She enters the elevator to stand next to Yotsuba smiling.

"The lowest button."

[sunflowerfairy]

"'Kay!~"

Happily, Yotsuba smacked the lowest button before turning to Aradia and asking:

"Where do the other ones go?!"

[fiesta_de_los_muertos]

"All the ones at the top go to the dormitories, the places where we sleep! And the ones in between go to some of the floors, I haven't been to all of them so I'm not sure where all of them go."

The elevator starts moving. It's terribly slow.

Not that Yotsuba really noticed yet that it was going slow.

"Can we visit the other places that these buttons go later?!"

[fiesta_de_los_muertos]

"Sure! Bet let's get you something to eat first."

And maybe figure out which floors aren't dangerous.

[sunflowerfairy]

"Okay! Can I have curry? Or ice cream?"

Yotsuba, sadly, had no idea about the menu here for newcomers.

[fiesta_de_los_muertos]

"I don't know if they have that. But you can have whatever you want after you eat some oatmeal first."

[sunflowerfairy]

Yotsuba had no problem with that..except for one little thing.

"What's oatmeal?"

[fiesta_de_los_muertos]

"It's..." Perhaps she's not the best person to explain Earth food. "It's something you have to eat when you get here, they don't put it in the letter but it's very important that you finish it, okay?"

[sunflowerfairy]

That..really didn't explain much. Yotsuba still looked pretty confused, but she nodded anyways.

"Okay..is it yummy?"

[fiesta_de_los_muertos]

"It's... very plain. It isn't that good but it also isn't bad either."

[sunflowerfairy]

Yotsuba tried to wrap her head around that. It wasn't yucky..but it wasn't yummy either? That didn't make much sense.

"If it isn't yummy or yucky..than is it just okay?"

[fiesta_de_los_muertos]

"Exactly! It's right in between."

And that's the best she can do as far as explanations go. She's glad that the required meal is such a plain one, it might have been hard to convince Yotsuba to actually eat it if it was, as she puts it, 'yucky'.

[sunflowerfairy]

Plain meals like oatmeal would be called 'yucky' by Yotsuba, but if you told her that she could eat something better afterwards, she would do her best to get through it. For now though, she just smiled.

"Okay then!"

Aradia smiles back and looks up at the numbers of the floors the elevator passes. They're almost at the bottom.
