9th Recipe - Surprise Banquet [Open]

Summary: Kazumi is running around trying to cook things for all the newcomers so they don't have to just eat what's on the menu! Also, stocking up the other kitchen

[Cafeteria]

[A young girl with short hair is hurrying in and out of the kitchen, greeting various people and coming back out with various dishes. Anyone who isn't seated and eating yet, she'll approach, or if she knows you, she'll approach anyway! Newcomer or Tower Resident, she wants to make sure everyone can have what they want - the menu's not that bad this month, but everyone always has different preferences, right? Though, all the guests have to make sure they have their oatmeal first!]

Hi! Are you hungry? What can I get for you?

[Cafeteria Kitchen]

[There's about eight different things cooking in here at any one time as Kazumi runs in and out and cooks various things while working around the staff. She's doing surprisingly well considering how much is going on! But she looks like she's about to run herself ragged...]

[Floor 60 - Deluxe Kitchen]

[Later in the day, one might find Kazumi here... there's an enormous pile of foods here, mostly things like sacks of flour and sugar and so on, but also vegetables and fruits and meat. It looks like she basically stole everything out of the cafeteria...]

Ummm, now how to organize this...?

Huh? Ah, Iri! Um... maybe?

[Well, she doesn't want to worry her but she doesn't want to lie... she can handle it, really!]

[Silly, that doesn't help much.]

Why haven't you asked for help? Even if you can handle all of this by yourself, having more people means it'll go just a bit faster, don't you think?

[starofpleiades]

Ah, well... I mean, I just took this on by myself, so I didn't want to drag people into my trouble! [She feels a bit silly about it when Iri puts it like that]

[wirefu]

Nonsense. [She smiles.] I don't think you'd have to "drag" anyone in at all. I'm sure there are many people here who will be more than happy to help!

Myself included, if you'd like.

[starofpleiades]

Eheh, maybe. I just don't want them to feel like they have to, since this is something I chose to do.

I'd be really happy if you would, Iri.

[wirefu]

It's settled, then! [She rolls up the sleeves on her shirt, a flash of determination in her eyes.] Just tell me what you need help with, and I'll see what I can do!

[Irisviel may not have any experience preparing meals, but she's seen some guides to easy meals in the magazines Kiritsugu would bring her. That's... that's good, right?]

Alright, well! That bowl of batter over there is for pancakes, and I had some crepes ready to just be folded up with toppings and fillings - could you get those first?

[Kazumi, on the other hand, is greatly over-estimating natural mother cooking skills...]

[wirefu]

Of course. Is there any specific combination of fillings that you'd like to be put together?

[To be fair, Irisviel can at least make things look good. If the food itself has already been prepared and just needs to be put together, then she can deal with that.

... Won't bode well for the pancakes though, once she gets to those.]

Um, I made a bit of berry filling, in the bowl next to them, but there's a few other fruits and some whipped cream in the fridge too - anything you think would go good on them, pretty much!

[Kazumi is already looking away as she checks some of the ovens and other things on stoves]

[Seems simple enough. As Kazumi continues to dart about, Irisviel works on her assigned task, humming softly to herself. In no time at all, the crepes are done, and a bright smile crosses the woman's face.]

There we go. How does that look?

[They're certainly not on the level of a professional, but they look good enough! One might have a bit too much berry filling, while another may have a bit too much whipped cream, but all in all, it's not a total disaster. And while digging through the fridge for whipped cream, Irisviel even found some of the chocolate used in the evening desserts to mix in with some of them!]

Oh, that's great!

[Okay, it might be a little messy, but they look delicious!]

I'm gonna go serve these now - can you keep an eye on things while I do? Especially the soup - it kind of feels like it's missing something... would you give it a taste?

[wirefu]

[Soup, huh... Irisviel finds the bubbling pot easily, scooping up a spoonful and tasting it for herself. It tastes fine, but if Kazumi says it's missing something...

Well. There's salt and pepper nearby. She can add a little bit of each of that. And some sort of herb is lying chopped up on a nearby counter. If it's so close to where the soup was simmering, it's likely that the young girl meant to put that in at some point, right? So Iri will just... toss that in as well...!]

[starofpleiades]

[That dill weed was for fish, not a mild chicken-stock soup... likewise, the capers and cream sauce in the bowl nearby. Or fish for that matter.]

[wirefu]

[Ah, yes, she sees the fish now... how awkward. W-Well, it won't make the taste too weird... right? But maybe she should add a pinch more salt, to mask the taste....]

[starofpleiades]

[The soup has turned kind of salty and dill-y. It's kind of strayed from the mildly savory taste it had before...

[... Oh dear. No, that won't do at all. Let's see...

Irisviel isn't dumb enough to put fruit in soup! And adding the fish would only make it more salty... right? Right. This is definitely the best option.]

[It seems like things might go well... but at the heat it's on, the cream is starting to curdle and wow, this sure turned kind of weird.

Of course, that's when Kazumi comes back]

How's it going, Iri?

[Maybe if she stirs it up a little, that'll stop it from burning???]

Ah, I'm sorry... I think I might have made a mistake somewhere.

[starofpleiades]

[It helps but it's still getting weird]

Oh no, what happened?

[wirefu]

I added a few things from the table nearby. [She motions to where she had found everything.]

I thought they were supposed to be added in, but I think I might have done it too soon...

Eh?

[Looking, Kazumi can see just what went in... oh boy. Well, that would certainly make things... a bit odd.]

Oh, gee... I was actually kind of going to use those for something else? And using dill in a chicken-base soup is a little...

[H-huh..? Could it be that... Iri had no idea wtf she was doing...?]
