9th Recipe - Surprise Banquet [Open]

Summary: Kazumi is running around trying to cook things for all the newcomers so they don't have to just eat what's on the menu! Also, stocking up the other kitchen
Warnings: None foreseen

[Cafeteria]

[A young girl with short hair is hurrying in and out of the kitchen, greeting various people and coming back out with various dishes. Anyone who isn't seated and eating yet, she'll approach, or if she knows you, she'll approach anyway! Newcomer or Tower Resident, she wants to make sure everyone can have what they want - the menu's not that bad this month, but everyone always has different preferences, right? Though, all the guests have to make sure they have their oatmeal first!]

Hi! Are you hungry? What can I get for you?

[Cafeteria Kitchen]

[There's about eight different things cooking in here at any one time as Kazumi runs in and out and cooks various things while working around the staff. She's doing surprisingly well considering how much is going on! But she looks like she's about to run herself ragged...]

[Floor 60 - Deluxe Kitchen]

[Later in the day, one might find Kazumi here... there's an enormous pile of foods here, mostly things like sacks of flour and sugar and so on, but also vegetables and fruits and meat. It looks like she basically stole everything out of the cafeteria...]

Ummm, now how to organize this...?

Eheh, I guess the candy-waffles can get a bit much after a while, huh?

[Calling it "crap" seemed a bit harsh to Kazumi, but then, he probably hadn't been around for the "NO FOOD" months... She's happy to let him eat, grabbing a stool and pulling it up so he can sit at the counter, setting the plate and fork there for him]

[looselips]

[Of course he's being harsh. He's purposefully talking down the other food so he won't have to do something as gauche as give Kazumi a compliment. He tries not to seem too eager as he hops up on the stool and sits in front of the counter, his feet swinging a little as he starts to eat.]

You think? [It's said with no small amount of sarcasm. His table manners aren't horrible, but he still hasn't swallowed all the food in his mouth when he speaks.] Is the food here always like that?

[starofpleiades]

[What troublesome little kid... well, kids are like that sometimes, aren't they?]

Well, not always... but they do tend to just serve the same thing all month, and sometimes it's kind of weird.

[looselips]

Like the candy inside everything isn't weird?

[But, despite his continuing sarcasm, he is curious about what kind of things she means by that. Not that he'll actually say as much outright.]

[starofpleiades]

Eheh, well, this is one of the weird months... sometimes it's more normal though! And, well... sometimes they don't really give us food.

[looselips]

"Don't really give us food"...? [He chews while he thinks.] Like we just have to cook for ourselves?

[starofpleiades]

Well, yeah... and find ingredients to cook in the first place.

Or they just give us nutrition bars, these pretty bland sticks that, well... I guess you won't starve but they're not very filling or tasty at all.

[looselips]

What the hell? Why wouldn't they give us food? [Considering the, "Let's be happy here," portion of the letter, he had just assumed they would be better cared for than that.] Ugh, it's like every day I find out a new and exciting way this place sucks.

[starofpleiades]

I think it's just to be mean. They... aren't very nice to us all the time.

[looselips]

So they give us a letter telling us to be happy, then starve us? Seems legit.

[starofpleiades]

It's probably not wise to really believe what they tell you in the letter.

[looselips]

What about the stuff about our realities being destroyed?

[He asks idly. It's not like he really cares, since he was already dead, but...]

[starofpleiades]

I... don't think it's true. I don't believe it's true.

[She had to hold on to that hope]

[looselips]

Yeah, I guess they haven't exactly done a good job of building up their credibility.

[So he won't give her any shit for not believing it.]

[starofpleiades]

They're doing everything they can to make us despair.

[looselips]

That's what I don't get, though. What's the point? This seems like a pretty complicated set-up if all they want is to get their sick jollies.

[starofpleiades]

I don't know... it's really hard to say what the purpose of any of this is...
