Summary: Kazumi is running around trying to cook things for all the newcomers so they don't have to just eat what's on the menu! Also, stocking up the other kitchen

[Cafeteria]

[A young girl with short hair is hurrying in and out of the kitchen, greeting various people and coming back out with various dishes. Anyone who isn't seated and eating yet, she'll approach, or if she knows you, she'll approach anyway! Newcomer or Tower Resident, she wants to make sure everyone can have what they want - the menu's not that bad this month, but everyone always has different preferences, right? Though, all the guests have to make sure they have their oatmeal first!]

Hi! Are you hungry? What can I get for you?

[Cafeteria Kitchen]

[There's about eight different things cooking in here at any one time as Kazumi runs in and out and cooks various things while working around the staff. She's doing surprisingly well considering how much is going on! But she looks like she's about to run herself ragged...]

[Floor 60 - Deluxe Kitchen]

[Later in the day, one might find Kazumi here... there's an enormous pile of foods here, mostly things like sacks of flour and sugar and so on, but also vegetables and fruits and meat. It looks like she basically stole everything out of the cafeteria...]

Ummm, now how to organize this...?

Wow, I can't even imagine that far... I'm pretty sure that's more than all of human history so far! From my point of view, I mean.

But... you have galactic travel, but it's a kind of lost technology from the past for you?

Beats me. I just know that the cogboys work their hardest to keep the stuff up and running, even after its thousands of years old. That says to me that they have trouble building that kind of thing. If you want a clearer answer, you'll have to ask a techpriest.

Wow, their job must be really important then, if you can't make new machines to replace the old ones.

Probably? I don't really pay much attention to them. They're a little creepy at times and some of them hate what they call 'fleshbags'.

They're humans. They've just willingly chopped off body parts and replaced them with mechanical parts.

So, like cyborgs? Gee... I guess it might make it easier to work with a lot of machines though, huh?

That kind of thing is just science-fiction in my time though.

[He pulls a glove off his hand and wiggles his ring and pinky finger, both being mechanical.]

[She leans over to stare; it looks really complicated]

[Seeing as how it doesn't seem like a particularly useful replacement, unlike an arm or something might give super strength or whatever]

It's hard to remember what war I lost these in. I've been in so many...

[He remembers perfectly fine.]

So you're a soldier then? I guess I should have figured from the uniform.

Commissar. It's a little bit different from the average grunt.

Oh, sorry then! [She has no idea where in the hierarchy that falls but it sounds important] So do you fight in wars all over the galaxy then?

Only a small part of the galaxy. It's too big for any one person to travel across.

That still sounds like a pretty big job though. I only protect a single city, after all!

There is trillions of soldiers across the galaxy doing the Emperor's good work. We all have it handled.

Haha, I guess I can rest easy about the future then. That sounds really reliable.

So you're all part of an empire then?

It's the Imperium of Man, all ruled from Terra. Or someone like you might call it Earth.

Wow... so then, are there aliens? Or is it just us out there?

There's a bunch of aliens out there. And all of them are downright evil. Be wary around the xeno.

Some less evil than others. But, in the end, they all want to kill humans.

That's terrible... I would have hoped that if there were aliens, they'd be our friends...

You're never going to befriend creatures like the Orks or Tyranids. Both of them are only concerned about the best way to kill people. You might have a little success with the Tau but, in the end, they care more about themselves than anything else. Forget about it with the Eldar since they think they're some kind of superior life form.

I'm sorry to hear that. There's really no way to reach out to them, then? To change that way of thinking?
