9th Recipe - Surprise Banquet [Open]

Summary: Kazumi is running around trying to cook things for all the newcomers so they don't have to just eat what's on the menu! Also, stocking up the other kitchen

[Cafeteria]

[A young girl with short hair is hurrying in and out of the kitchen, greeting various people and coming back out with various dishes. Anyone who isn't seated and eating yet, she'll approach, or if she knows you, she'll approach anyway! Newcomer or Tower Resident, she wants to make sure everyone can have what they want - the menu's not that bad this month, but everyone always has different preferences, right? Though, all the guests have to make sure they have their oatmeal first!]

Hi! Are you hungry? What can I get for you?

[Cafeteria Kitchen]

[There's about eight different things cooking in here at any one time as Kazumi runs in and out and cooks various things while working around the staff. She's doing surprisingly well considering how much is going on! But she looks like she's about to run herself ragged...]

[Floor 60 - Deluxe Kitchen]

[Later in the day, one might find Kazumi here... there's an enormous pile of foods here, mostly things like sacks of flour and sugar and so on, but also vegetables and fruits and meat. It looks like she basically stole everything out of the cafeteria...]

Ummm, now how to organize this...?

[She stops and looks puzzled.]

It is! If you take things without asking, it's stealing even if you give it back later!

[terreifying]

I really have to remember that then. Thanks for telling me.

[Of course, she could always get the bear to follow her home the next time...]

That should really be common sense... even if you leave a note, what if they really didn't want you to?

[Or rather, who the heck would ever let you take a bear from a zoo?]

[terreifying]

[People who were scared shitless of her, that's who.]

Mom and Dad didn't tell me it was stealing, though. And the zoo director wasn't mad.

Well, they should have. Or they didn't think you'd take a bear. I guess you're lucky they weren't mad though?

[terreifying]

Yep. I'm really lucky. Also, Mommy and Daddy reimbursed the psychologist's bill for everyone, though we only needed it for one person.

[starofpleiades]

Th, that sounds pretty bad...

[terreifying]

He's fine. He even got a giant robot to pilot, just like me.

[starofpleiades]

[She's not sure that makes up for bear related trauma...]

You pilot a giant robot?

[terreifying]

Yep. His name is Go-kun. He's a lean, green, killing machine with bitching sunglasses.

[starofpleiades]

Ehhh....? I, I'm having a hard time imagining...

[terreifying]

Too bad he's not here. I'd introduce you two if he was.

[starofpleiades]

You make it sounds like it's a living thing.

[terreifying]

Of course he's alive. He has his own soul. All EVAs have souls.

[starofpleiades]

They have... souls in them?

[That sounds... uncomfortably familiar.]

[terreifying]

Yep. Artificial ones, though. Not like we sacrifice people to power them or anything.

[starofpleiades]

Artificial souls? How do you make those?

[terreifying]

Well, first you program the computer that controls the thing's movements. Then you connect a mind to the computer. Then the mind and the computer work together and do things that a mind connected to a computer does and poof, out comes a soul.

[starofpleiades]

H, huh...? Wait, where's the mind coming from though?

[terreifying]

The selected pilot, of course. You see, kids like me get picked and we hook our brains up to the EVAs to move them.

[starofpleiades]

And... hooking up your brain with the computer gives birth to a soul?

[It sounds complicated]

[terreifying]

Of course. But only if the computer can accept you. It's like getting married.

[starofpleiades]

So the soul is born from the bond between you... I guess it is kind of like getting married?

[It kind of sounds like more than just a computer and a robot to her though]

[terreifying]

Don't worry. I married Go-kun for real too.

[Or at least she's going to.]
