9th Recipe - Surprise Banquet [Open]

Summary: Kazumi is running around trying to cook things for all the newcomers so they don't have to just eat what's on the menu! Also, stocking up the other kitchen
Warnings: None foreseen

[Cafeteria]

[A young girl with short hair is hurrying in and out of the kitchen, greeting various people and coming back out with various dishes. Anyone who isn't seated and eating yet, she'll approach, or if she knows you, she'll approach anyway! Newcomer or Tower Resident, she wants to make sure everyone can have what they want - the menu's not that bad this month, but everyone always has different preferences, right? Though, all the guests have to make sure they have their oatmeal first!]

Hi! Are you hungry? What can I get for you?

[Cafeteria Kitchen]

[There's about eight different things cooking in here at any one time as Kazumi runs in and out and cooks various things while working around the staff. She's doing surprisingly well considering how much is going on! But she looks like she's about to run herself ragged...]

[Floor 60 - Deluxe Kitchen]

[Later in the day, one might find Kazumi here... there's an enormous pile of foods here, mostly things like sacks of flour and sugar and so on, but also vegetables and fruits and meat. It looks like she basically stole everything out of the cafeteria...]

Ummm, now how to organize this...?

Eheh, I hadn't thought of it that way! I guess that's true too.

[tohko_amano]

[At that, Tohko grinned.]

Of course it is! After all, you can be hungry for books, music, friends, food, swimming..and all sorts of other things!

[Tohko then finished chopping up the green pepper.]

Alright, the things we're going to put in are all chopped up!

[starofpleiades]

Okay great! Let me just roll out the dough... while I'm at it, could you get out the milk and three eggs? Oh, and cheese! Just whichever kind you like.

[tohko_amano]

Oh, sure! Hang on a minute..

[Tohko opened up the fridge and got out a glass of milk and a carton of eggs before putting them on the counter and pulling a package of cheese on the counter. She then closed the fridge.]

There you are!

[starofpleiades]

Thanks! And either grate or cube the cheese? Some people like the cheese throughout, but having chunks of it's good too!

[While she did that, Kazumi got out a pan and started laying out the dough inside it]

[tohko_amano]

Oh, sure! I can do that!

[And Tohko would grab a plate before getting out a cheese grater and started to grate the cheese.]

[Once she gets the dough set, Kazumi grabs a bowl and starts mixing everything together to make the filling, throwing stuff in]

Heheh, it's a big help having someone chop everything up and prepare it for me! Thanks, Tohko.

[tohko_amano]

[And Tohko would just keep grating the cheese as she spoke.]

Oh, you're welcome! I'm always happy to help out! Plus, I've never made this before, so it should be fun to see how it turns out!

Heheh, well, hopefully tasty!

I think that's enough cheese, thanks!

[Taking that, dumps it in the bowl... yeah, quiche is basically a bunch of stuff suspended in eggs and cheese in a crust.

Then she starts pouring the mixture into the pan with the crust she'd prepared]

Can you just make sure one of the ovens is at 180?

[Celsius, of course]

Oh, I'm sure it'll be tasty!

[And Tohko knew what a quiche was..she just never made it before. But they were tasty. However, she nodded at Kazumi's request.]

Oh, sure! I can do that! However..which temperature did you want it set at, Celsius or Fahrenheit?

[After all, recipes did use both.]

Eh? Oh, uh, celsius! At least, I think that's what those ovens use... it's worked okay so far?

[tohko_amano]

Ah, alright then! I'm sorry for asking..recipes ask for both temperatures, so I just wanted to make sure.

[Tohko turned the oven on for 180 degrees Celsius before turning back to Kazumi.]

Alright then! What's next?

I guess if you've read a lot of books, that'd be true, huh? Mine were all Japanese so they tend to be in celsius...

Well, now that we've poured it in, we just have to wait for the oven to finish preheating... I guess we should've done that earlier, eheh...

A lot of Japanese books do use Celsius..but I've read a lot of books from America, England, and a few other parts of the world. After all, stories can be born just about anywhere!

[Tohko then lightly chuckled.]

Well..we probably should have, but waiting isn't a problem.

[starofpleiades]

Mm, that's true.

So, what sort of things do you do for fun? Is it pretty much all reading?

[tohko_amano]

Well, not just reading. I do write sometimes, for my friends..and I like to help people around the Tower!

How about you? What hobbies do you have?

[starofpleiades]

Well, besides cooking, I guess a little reading - not as much as you, obviously! - and exploring. I've found gardening is kind of fun here too!

[tohko_amano]

Well, I'm glad to hear that! If I ever need help growing violets or something, I'll ask you. And if you ever need a good book recommendation, let me know.

[starofpleiades]

You like violets, then?

[tohko_amano]

I do, actually! And any other plan that's colored violet, really. It's my favorite color.

[starofpleiades]

Heheh, well, maybe we can grow hydrangeas or orchids! One of the new floors is a greenhouse, it looks like.

Oh, and there's purple cabbage too! [Always thinking with her stomach]

That could be fun! I've never taken care of a plant before, but it could be fun to try!

[Tohko chuckled when Kazumi mentioned purple cabbage.]

And we could grow purple cabbage to eat during the Jason months!

[starofpleiades]

Eheh, yeah!

Is Jason always the one behind the months we can't eat?

[tohko_amano]

[At that, Tohko nodded.]

From what I've heard, his months are always filled with nutrition bars and nothing else, so some purple cabbage might be good to eat during those times!

[starofpleiades]

Mm, yeah. I'm also interested in the new kitchen floor; we might be able to keep food there too!
