Prologue: The Fall of Magvel...? [open!]
Characters: Amelia and YOU! Yes you! Right over there!
Setting: The Dorms in general (Beginning in 2-07) and then Floor 1!
Format: Leading off with action brackets but I'm cool with everything!
Summary: A young knight and newcomer to the Tower waking up and trying to wrap her head around everything that's suddenly happening. Give her a poke?
Warnings: Oatmeal. Although no seriously, none that I can think of! I'll keep this updated if something unexpected goes down.
Room 2-07 and the Dorms
[... this was not where she'd fallen asleep. To be fair it was somewhat more comfortable than where she remembered being, given after the battle with Formortis the poor girl had passed out from sheer exhaustion and stone floors were not the most forgiving surface to rest on. But somehow she couldn't shake the feeling she'd missed something. A feeling only reinforced by the strange room she had awoken in, the lack of equipment, the bizarre outfit and collar she was now wearing... something was wrong.
And then she found the letter, the contents of which left her sitting on the side of her bed staring blankly at it for a good several minutes. But... they'd won! There was no way the world could have been destroyed! This had to be some manner of trick... but then how did she end up here? Who brought her here? And for that matter where in blazes was she anyways? After several moments of near panic she began to calm herself back down, discipline beginning to kick back in. Whatever was really happening, she wasn't going to get any answers just sitting here. At least there was a bit of good news to be had upon opening her trunk, although it wasn't all of her equipment simply having some of her armor and her sword back was reassuring in itself. To say nothing of Garm, a reminder that even here, even now she was still a soldier of Grado. A lance would have been nice too, but alas there was none to be seen here. All the same as soon as her equipment was in order, it was time to explore a little. Someone else from home had to be here somewhere... right? Perhaps in another room? It seemed excessive given the lack of danger at the moment, but even exploring the halls she'd keep her sword on her belt and Garm slung over a shoulder. Just having them would help keep her calm, she thought.
Perhaps one of her new roommates drops in while she's going over her equipment? Or maybe somebody runs into her as she's exploring the dorm hallways?]
Floor 01:
[Alright this was going nowhere fast. And honestly it had been long enough since she could recall having a decent meal that her distress at being unable to find her comrades wasn't going to stop her from craving a hot meal. And honestly the more she thought about it, the more a delicious hot meal seemed like it'd help calm her nerves somewhat. Yeah, that sounded good.
And it was not good. Now she found herself seated in the cafeteria with a bowl of oatmeal, her sword and axe placed for the moment upon the table as she poked at the oatmeal a few times before taking a single bite. Yep, not great. Not the worst thing she'd ever eaten but tasty it was not. And while she was too polite to complain about it openly the look on her face pretty much said it all. Honestly this seemed downright petty compared to everything earlier, but it was kind of like taking one extra kick in the ribs after losing a major battle. If nothing else this gave the young knight some time to think though, contemplate on what had happened and the potential fate of her world and her friends while gazing off at nothing in particular... and occasionally muse over all the ways this oatmeal could be so much better. Regardless, sooner or later she's going to have to start approaching people. Maybe somebody else knows more about this... and deep down just having a few people to talk to right about now would be nice. At least the tower seems fairly safe for the moment, if far larger than she first expected.
Not an illusion she's likely to have for long.]

[So, this girl uses swords, axes, and lances - and she has an axe so awesome it's considered her country's national treasure]
[Huh]
[He looks from the axe back up at her, blinking]
So you're... some kind of legendary hero, then?
Hmm, it dawns on me I need a surprised icon!
I'm just a soldier really, I mean I'm proud of what I've accomplished and how far I've come but I'm nowhere near as great as General Duessel or Lord Ephraim, let alone the great hero Grado himself. I was only knighted recently and it wasn't that long ago I joined the army, honestly. It's... circumstance I guess that led me to having this.
[Nevermind that she's had a significant role in pretty much recreating the legendary battles of the past and saving the world. Right down to trading blows with the Demon King himself with this very axe.]
So get one!
That's one hell of a circumstance.
[Look Naoto! He's using big words! You'd be proud, he'e sure]
Re: So get one!
[She miiiight be a little bit flustered right now, but it does serve as a reminder just how far she's come along since she first joined the army. And it's a bit reassuring too. Even here, even now she's still a knight of Grado. The axe in her hands is both a reminder of home and proof of her knighthood, a thought that gets another small smile out of her before she shoulders it again.]
Hopefully I won't have to use it, but I somehow doubt I'll be that lucky. There must be others in this tower who can fight too, right? You say there are monsters around but it seems pretty quiet right here, at least right now.
no subject
Most days the monsters leave this area alone, though anywhere that's not your bedroom can get hairy at night. Honestly, it seems like it's harder to find someone in the tower that can't fight - most people are at least alright at taking care of themselves. But like I said, not everyone's fun to deal with.
The tower doesn't always choose to bring the 'best and brightest' if you know what I mean.
no subject
Well that's good most people can defend themselves, I'm betting you probably can too... but when you say that, how bad are we talking? I mean are some of the people here just the serious type or are we talking more like... people who might as well be monsters?
[Right about now she's thankful Valter's dead, because running into him here would be pretty much the opposite of a pleasant time. On the other hand, she could kill him again and it would probably make her feel better. A thought that promptly causes her to shake her head slightly, that isn't something worth dwelling on right now.]
no subject
As for me... well, I'm not exactly a seasoned fighter walking around in armor or anything, but I can handle myself alright.
[More than that he won't get into, because what he can do is likely very different from her kind of magic, just judging by the way she dresses. But he just couldn't resist the urge to tease her a little]
Oh, another heads up! Not that I'm saying to try and die, but if you die here they bring you back to life somehow. Don't ask me how it works.
no subject
Bringing back the dead generally doesn't go well for anyone involved.]
... but that's impossible!
no subject
... but like I said, that's a long conversation we probably shouldn't have in the middle of a hallway. It's all just theory, anyway.
[He lets out a small sigh, scratching the back of his head]
Best advice I can give you? Try to get rid of what you think of as normal or possible. That way, a lot fewer things here will surprise you in a bad way.
no subject
[Alright so now there was a not-zero chance most of the things she knew to be basic facts of life were quite possibly not true here. That was going to take some serious getting used to, not that she was about to go running off and dying for no reason just to see if this was actually true or not. Bit of a hard pill to swallow, that one.
That's when she suddenly realized throughout all this she'd never even properly introduced herself.]
Oh! I was so caught up in all that I completely forgot, I'm Amelia! A soldier from the Grado Empire, what's your name?
no subject
[Grado Empire, huh? Doesn't sound like anywhere he's ever heard of. Probably another world then, especially considering how she's dressed. What that means is that he'e sure his name sounds crazy as hell to her, and even though he's dressed pretty plainly (all things considered), the questions are sure to come. Time to brace himself for the 'oh hey by the way there's all sorts of alternate worlds out there' discussion]
[He's sure it's coming in three... two... one...]
no subject
[Slowly it begins to sink in that A: That name is foreign sounding as all hell and B: His outfit is certainly a strange one... nah, that's absurd.
...
But she's going to bring it up anyways.]
I've never heard that kind of name before... what country are you from anyways? [Because she's pretty sure he's not from any country she'd recognize, and she's practically been all over the world... which is pretty quickly starting to add up to one conclusion.]
no subject
[Well, the blunt approach has worked well enough so far, so he might as well continue it]
I'm from a country called Japan. If you've never heard of it, it's probably because I'm from a different world than you. I know where I'm from, what you're wearing would be more than a little out of place, and I'm betting the opposite's true for you, too.
no subject
Give her a few seconds to process that...]
... you're from a different world. And you don't have knights there? ... well, at least you're not a horrible monster bent on the slaughter of all mankind... right?
[This wasn't an entirely serious question because really, but at the same time he's certainly much more pleasant than the last thing from another world she had to deal with.]
no subject
Nah, I'm against the whole killing mankind thing. I'm more the type to fight for it, as best I can. After all, like I said! I'm no soldier, just a school kid that learned to fight.
Hmm, maybe I should really bug you for training sometime...
no subject
Well if you were fighting for humanity I'll bet you probably learned a few tricks huh? I really don't know how much I could teach you, but I'd be glad to help! Or if you just need a sparring partner or something.
[And it'd help her take her mind off of things sometime too, having a chance to keep her skills sharp was always welcome. Of course they'd probably have to find some kinda training weapons because using Garm or her sword just seemed reckless... it's a large tower though, there's bound to be something somewhere.]
no subject
A few tricks? I don't know about that, I just know I feel myself getting slower and that's no good.
Besides! You have training! I can teach myself all I want, but without proper training I can only get so far, you know?
no subject
I can understand that, gotta keep practicing to keep sharp huh? But honestly I didn't have that much training... I mean as I went along I got some guidance from the others. And I definitely improved a lot, but my first battle? Front lines, no training at all. I was out there with a lance and no idea how to use it. It's a small miracle I'm standing here right now!
Still, I did learn a few things... [Experience is the best teacher afterall, and General Duessel was kind enough to impart some of his knowledge during the war.] What kind of weapons do you like to use?
no subject
notherlegendary hero, and she's barely had more training than he has. The world's funny the way it works, sometimes]Guess that's another thing we have in common! I just sort of jumped into fighting without really thinking about it. When you think back on all the ways you should have died... kinda crazy, huh?
[He sighs and shakes his head. It feels like so long ago... damned tower. He pushes the thought from his mind and draws his kunai from his pockets, twirling them on his fingers before gripping them]
Anyway, this is more my speed. Nowhere near as impressive as what you're packing, but they get the job done!
