Summary: The tower appears to be overcome with a strange mist.
Warnings: general horror warnings for now

A strange, primordial scream. Perhaps something that didn't seem too out of place for this tower, yet there was something...off about it.

Then came a small series of rumblings. Something was stirring up in the tower. Thankfully the dorms seemed seemed fine. It was when you started to walk down that you realized something was wrong. There was dark mist everywhere. It wasn't natural. Even with a light, it was hard to see past the staircases into the levels, causing even more confusion. Thankfully, the stairs seemed to be safe and if you walked down the entire hundred levels, you'd notice that the cafeteria was safe too.

But that seemed to be it. Everywhere else, the mist was thick and seemed to hang on to the clothing and hair.

Then another noise rings out in every corridor, a laughter musical but somehow diabolical, not quite male nor female, asking a single question;

"Are you enjoying yourself?"

It looked like someone was wanting to play a little game with you.

"So, if Shiro didn't like Ganto, Wretched Egg would have killed him?"

Tohko didn't comment on the second part. It was good information, but there was no reason to comment on the Carnival Corpse, seeing as that wasn't the setting right now.

"Can't speculate there. All that matters is that I need his Branch of Sin. Or rather, I did. Not anymore. ✩"

Poor Ganta. Assuming he stayed out of the way, if he ever showed up here, Hagire had no more use for him in any form. "Deadman Wonderland is a lot like this place. That might be why Shiro seems so comfortable." Take away the monsters and replace the events with Carnival Corpse matches, and they're a lot alike, even down to the collars. Only, instead of check-ups, those can kill you.

"I noticed the resemblance between your two universes. However, why did you need Ganta's Branch of Sin? Was there someone you needed to fight with it? Or did you only need it until you copied it?"

"Nah. I just wanted Wretched Egg out permanently. ✩"

Tohko sighed and nodded as she thought about that.

"I see..I don't think you were successful though."

"Who knows? My world was blown up before I could put my plan into action. But there's one thing I admit I didn't take into account."

Hagire swung his lugs over the side of the railing, landing like a cat in front of Tohko. "I never realized Wretched Egg could voluntarily let Shiro out. She's the dominant personality, you see. It was the Mother Goose System that suppressed her influence. But ahah... that doesn't exist here. ✩"

He grins, running a finger along Tohko's forehead. "I have her all to myself, now."

Tohko sighed as she smacked Hagire's hand away. Normally, she wouldn't mind..but she didn't trust Hagire enough to let him touch her.

"I don't think so. Wretched Egg can still show up to other people, and I imagine the Administrators probably have something in place to control her. However, I am sorry to hear about your world."

"Oh, I know." He frowns as she smacks his hand away, but giggles, and spins away from her. "She appears to people every chance she got at Deadman Wonderland. They just don't usually live to tell about it! ✩ I can't imagine things are much different here."

"They are. After all, she didn't kill me when we first met. She badly beat me up, but she didn't kill me."

At that, they would hear a low and pretty scary chuckle coming from behind them.

"And yet I almost did~ Just to shut you up~"

And there would be the Wretched Egg, leaning against a wall, arms crossed under her chest.

"Sorry to interrupt your little romantic chat~ But my ears were ringing~ So I thought you wouldn't mind a ménage à trois~"

Tohko turned around to face Wretched Egg and sighed.

"I thought you almost did. That beating stung quite a bit. And this isn't a romantic chat..but I wouldn't mind if you joined us."

"Just a bit? ...I shall definitely try harder next time~"

She pushed away from the wall, leaning closer to Tohko. Invading her personal space, as usual.

"Of course, Toto's not... Him."

Enoch, she meant.

Tohko took a few steps back, trying to salvage her personal space and sighed again.

"I would prefer that you didn't try again at all. And who's 'him'?"

Sadly, Tohko didn't get where Wretched Egg was going.

"The Snow Goose boy... Or need I say more~"

They had an audience, after all.

Oh. Tohko sighed and scratched her head.

"'The Snow Goose Boy' turned me down, if you were waiting to see how that would work out."

Wretched Egg eyed her for a bit, her twisted smile never leaving her face.

"Really now? How disappointing~"

Tohko watched her, trying to guess what that smile meant.

"..It's not that bad. He said he was still willing to be my friend, so it's alright."

"Maybe he already had a girlfriend~ Did he tell you?"

[tohko_amano]

"Oh, he doesn't have a girlfriend. He just didn't see me that way, that's all. He views me more like a younger sister.."

Tohko sighed.

"Or a daughter. But, as long as we can still be friend, then I don't mind."

Wretched Egg shook her head in mock sadness. "He does not find you sexy enough, huh? I should have guessed."

Way to make Tohko blush and give you an annoyed glare, Wretched Egg.

"It wasn't about whether or not I was sexy enough for him! He's too old to really care about that sort of thing now. He said it had more to do with my maturity. I'm too much like the 'book girl' in my title, if that makes any sense."

Of course Wretched Egg ignored Tohko's annoyed glare. "Oh. You mean he finds you boring, then~ Makes sense too."

Tohko was one inch away from smacking Wretched Egg.

"That isn't what he meant either! You would call an immature girl just girl and call her a woman when she matured, right? It simply means that he doesn't view me in a mature way. Not as a lover or a wife, but as a sister or a daughter."

Which meant Tohko was one inch away from being slammed into the nearest wall. And then slapped twice as hard.

"Ksha~ I don't believe book girls ever become sexy women~"

Not that Tohko was aware of that, sadly. However, she continued to glare at Wretched Egg as she spoke.

"Then you need to read more books. There are plenty of stories where girls who love books are sexy. Just look at Lirael!"
