001 To Take A Deep Breath
Characters: Kanaya and everyone! (You are included in that!)
Setting: Various, starting outside room 1-07
Format: I'll follow you
Summary: Kanaya attempts to explore the tower and make friends. Or at least not make any enemies right off.
Warnings: None unless she's attacked. She may look meek and gentle but she's quite proficient with that chainsaw. Also, a secondary warning: she tends to ramble when nervous.
The first thing Kanaya was aware of was the inability to move. That was hardly unusual as the viscosity of the sopor slime in the recuperacoons made it difficult to thrash about in but that gave it a sense of comfort. She was not in her recuperacoon however. She was lying on some soft surface, like a cushion but raised and with blankets. Panic began to rise in her throat as she realized that she was not even on the flying chunk of rock she and her friends now called home. As the paralysis wore off she was able to take in her surroundings....and the rather hideous bodysuit and collar someclearly style challenged being had put on her.
She spotted the letter, read it quickly, and then went to the indicated chest to change into something more familiar. At least the collar was similar to her blood color so it didn't clash too terribly. A small wave of relief washed over her to see the matriorb safely nestled among various lengths of fabric. Even if she had failed everything else at least that was still safe and there was still hope.
Next, however, came a more pressing matter. She turned toward the door, placed her hand on the handle...and hesitated. Who knew what lay outside. She steeled herself, made sure the bottle of lipstick was in her pocket, and walked out to meet whatever lay beyond the threshold.

[And it's this candle that notices Kanaya first, nudging John with her little nubs of arms. It's another one of those weird grey horned kids! One of daddy's friends...though she doesn't recognize this one! And unfortunately, neither does John.]
[He stops, examining Kanaya quietly for a moment, clearly wracking his brain to figure out who she is. By now he knows full well what the trolls in general look like and it's easy enough to figure out who is who even if they aren't human here. The only problem is that Kanaya hadn't been in Johto for nearly two years and she and John hadn't really talked much.]
[Eventually though, it seems to click. Somewhat.]
You're...Rose's friend, right? Kaaa...naya was it? [He mispronounced it, but points for trying?]
no subject
Yes, I am Kanaya. [She subtly corrects his mispronunciation and then proceeds to ramble.] You know the Rose Human then? I read her notes on the game my friends and I partook in and they were incredibly helpful so I greatly anticipated speaking with her and perhaps even meeting her in person but I fear that I was delayed by technical difficulties and then I ended up here. ...Wherever here might be...

[BUT WOW YAY SOMEBODY ELSE WHO IS WAY BEHIND THE REST OF THEIR FRIENDS. This is something to bond over, yes.]
Well she is my fiancee so, yes, I would say I know her pretty well. [He laughs a little.] I'm John, one of the players from the human session.

She doesn't get a good look at his face before he passes her so she calls out after him.]
Excuse me, could you possibly be able to assist me?

[WELP. He stares a little. Or a lot. After a moment, the small mechanical mother grub sitting between his horns buzzes somewhat, and the sound snaps him out of it.]

Even Kanaya's frame was enough to unbalance Equius. And so, as she fell, as did he. It was all extremely classy and well-put-together, of course, but the fact remained that we have here a couple of losers who have no social lives and kind of need to watch where they're going every once in a while. In the meantime...
"--sorry!"
Squeaky squeak squeaky.

Which is exactly what she decided to do, hesitating for just a short moment before walking straight over towards Kanaya, armored boots on the floor almost certainly giving her away before she reached her. Rough as her stay had been so far she still maanged to muster a smile and a wave.]
Excuse me! Hello there, are you new by any chance?
no subject
It would seem that I am indeed new as I am completely unfamiliar with this place.
no subject
Yeah I... I'm not really sure how to describe it either. I've been here only a few weeks myself so I'm not really sure what to make of it either, aside from that it's really, really dangerous here. I guess the two main things you probably need to know right now is that there's a ton of monsters here and a bunch of people here somehow got pulled here from different worlds.
[There's a pause here, she's certain there's more than that but she's not really all that qualified to answer a ton of questions. That's probably best left to somebody who's been around longer than she has.]
Oh! By the way, I'm Amelia! What's your name? [For someone clearly armed and armored, she sure is a cheerful one.]

Oh honestly, I know you are not overly fond of me outside my role as an auspitice but that reaction is hardly appropriate. Or did you mistake me for one of the angels you angered? Perhaps you need to have your glasses checked?
no subject
I thought I saw somethin' behind you so I was shriekin' to provide a clever ruse so that you could get away from it...

F94: With the lights on....
He does have to wonder why there's an entire floor dedicated to photography, even if it seems like a dream come true at first glance. He's already learned, though, that questioning the Tower is bound to lead to as many headaches as there are monsters. He has enough of those trying to sort out his own personal slice of it.
So he contents himself with wandering the floor, Blade Wing Worms cautiously in tow -- when he spots the unfamiliar girl with her grey skin and horns, it's unsurprising that he takes her for yet another monster: there's no shortage of humanoids among their number.
His skeletal familiars hiss gently, scenting danger and a possible meal. Kariya hesitates, though -- with the Worms at his side, he's a little more willing to give something that seems to be moving about calmly the benefit of the doubt.]
Excuse me.

Kariya himself very nearly gave in to the kneejerk reaction when he saw the chainsaw, but the fact that the girl stops is enough to stall him again. He's not a fighter by nature, even now.]
If you aren't one of the Tower's monsters, then speak up.

FASHIONABLY LATE STRIKES A POSE
[Perhaps it was from mixing slime and pills. Not that he really gave two flying fucks about the risk involved there, but at least now he knew what kind of hangover he was in for.]
[After he'd managed to put his pants back on (backwards, granted, but at least they were on), he stepped tentatively out into the hallway, shrinking back from the lights there. Great fuck, did they sear his little goat pupils.]
[From the haze of the light and the (extra) pounding in his head, he was able to make out a pair of horns that he was quickly growing quite fucking tired of seeing.]
[Being in such a collected, healthy state as he was, Gamzee was terribly slow to react. He stood there dumbly, shielding his slits of eyes with one hand and groping himself to make sure he was, in fact, wearing the proper attire for the upcoming encounter.]
OMG MONET WHAT IS THIS
Gamzee, are you quite alright? You seem...unwell.
just a boy grabbin his crotch nbd
[He would have laughed harder, if it didn't hurt his everything. "Unwell" was about the biggest understatement of the century. Not fully realizing that this wasn't the Kanaya that did his boys in the last time, he still tried to remain on high alert.]
Awfully all being a fuckin' astute observation, you motherfuckin' globe-splitting nooklick.
