[OPEN] In the back of my head there's a siren that won't shut up.
Characters: Eridan Ampora and YOU!
Setting: Media floor.
Format: Starting with action, but I'll match you.
Summary: Eridan's back from his little time out in the land of boredom and jack-fuck-shit-all-to-do, but they're serving waffles in the cafeteria and he needs a few dumb movies to shut up his brain before he braves out social interaction on a larger scale.
Warnings: Eridan.
[Eridan's got this whole thing sorted out. Utterly in control, it's him. You don't even know. He's got about four plates of waffles stacked up and he's curled up on the floor, back pressed against a couch, and there's blankets and really stupid action flick blaring in the screen. Screw you, Zen masters, he doesn't need no stinking peace and quiet to get some inner peace.
Or at least something that greatly resembles inner peace.
By which I mean denial. Very thorough, very careful denial. So yeah, no trauma here, no emotional unrest, no sir. All is calm and chill as fuck, and if you don't agree you can go have a talk with the barrel of his gun, which is coincidentally half hidden under that pile of blankets and within easy reach.
But it's not like he's being paranoid or anything. Of course not. Shut up. He's watching a movie and eating waffles and not going crazy. What's wrong with that?]

[She doesn't really smile but she takes them and sits on the floor with her back against the sofa. Using her hands to eat she bites into the waffles and chews them slowly, still half mesmerized by the screen]
You're Equius's friend, aren't you? You look kinda similar, I mean you both have grey skin and orange horns. I've seen a lot of people like that around, I guess a lot of people from your home world came here. I don't think a lot of people from my world came to the tower but they have a lot of insects here so that's okay...
[She trails off at a particularly impressive action sequence, only to suddenly snap back to reality about half way]
What are you watching?
no subject
[A bit more than that, but he can't handle discussing that. Not quite. He's a little amused at the way she seems to be engrossed by the TV, so he finds himself smiling faintly.]
Eh, just the first thing I picked up that looked action-packed. I like explosions.
no subject
[She takes another bite of her waffles and continues talking with her mouth full, becoming slightly more energetic as they keep talking]
Do you make explosions? I don't really do that... but sometimes you meet people who can make bullet patterns that look like explosions but prettier.
[She isn't elaborating on herself very well]
no subject
[There's a small, pregnant pause.]
...things. I shoot things.
[Wow, brain. Wow, thanks for that one.]
But it's not the same, because they don't really make explosions, unless you shoot something that can explode. I've never met anyone who could make patterns with their bullets though.
no subject
You can't make patterns? Isn't it harder to hit things? Or is it easier since it's harder to read?
no subject
[For a second there, Eridan sounds utterly miserable. And then, before it can really sink in, he's moved on and his tone is once more neutral.]
Well, it seems like a waste of bullets, to make a pattern when you can just... shoot and not miss. I don't miss a lot.
[Rather than arrogant, he sounds almost self-conscious about it.]
I learned that you ought to make each shot count, so I try to make one-hits if I can.
no subject
But if you just shoot once then it's easier to dodge. And even if you shoot you can just make more bullets.
[She seemed rather perplexed by the fact since it seemed to go against everything she knew about spellcard battles]
no subject
[Eridan shrugged, nibbling on a piece of waffle.]
I mean, I don't even use bullets anymore, which is a good thing because I can't run out of ammo now, but when I first started, I had very little and had to make sure every shot counted. I couldn't afford to make mistakes, back then.
no subject
[She flings one of her arms in the air, leaving a scattering or teal and yellow bullets in it's wake. They seem to flicker out just as quickly]
The difficult part is thinking up good patterns...
no subject
Huh, yeah, I don't think I can do that. It looks pretty neat, though.

[Eridan shrugged and pointed to his rifle.]
I just use a gun to shoot things. So I don't need patterns, just about a second to take aim.
no subject
[She reaches for it without even asking]
no subject
[He pulls her out of her reach with a bit of trepidation.]
Careful with that. Already had the top of my head blown open 'cause someone got handsy about my guns. You oughtta be careful about them, okay?
[He shrugs.]
As for how they work... uh, well it depends on the type?
no subject
The type? Like spell cards and regular patterns? Oh! Or is it like different types of magic items?
