Bon Appetit (Closed)

Characters: Chloe and Vriska
Setting: The Restaurant, a hunt and back again... hopefully
Format: Prose unless she prefers action tags
Summary: Well, like Chloe said, you can posture all you want, but might as well test their mettle a little. So, why not work for their lunch?

What's the worst that could happen?
Warnings: Well, considering they might run into a monster hunting whatever it is they hunt? Probably a bit of violence. That, and Chloe's a creep and Vriska's Vriska.

Chloe stood at the edge of the restaurant, glancing at the staff member and nodding while she waited for Vriska to show herself. She was honestly a little curious. The text had been purile and a touch needlessly hard to understand, but the bravado had her interested. Was it like Doom, and debatably founded, or was this one all talk?

Honestly, she was a little bored as it stood. The whole Dark World had been entertaining, but it had left her itching for a little more excitement. And, in this place, you had to search for that. Why not risk life and limb for a meal?

Besides, what was the worst that could happen? They die? Wrapping herself in her cloak, she smirked at that thought. Death really had lost a lot of its meaning to her. She wondered if that made her a little crazy.

While Vriska could accurately be described as full of herself, she wasn't all talk. The troll practically oozed confidence as she approached the meeting place, from the way she walked to her cocky smirk. The human had said something about purple hair, right? Scanning the crowd, Vriska hoped her potential partner in crime hadn't wussed out and decided not to show...

Ah, there she was. Good. The troll's smile took a slightly more sinister edge as she sauntered up to the other girl, flipping her hair as though this were just another day in the life of Vriska and not an adventure that might cost her her life.

"I hope you're tougher than you look."

Great at the whole friendly greetings thing, this one was.

"You're squishy and weird, but as a species, you can be surprising." Vriska automatically thought of John, and the reminder made her smile soften just a little. There's a human worth his salt, and she helped make him that way. How could she not feel pride just thinking about it?

Ah, but it was time to focus on the moment and this other human. "Good. I'm not here to look after a useless grub. Let's get this adventure started!"

The words were something of a compliment, in their own way, but also an expecation; the human had the guts enough to be worth partnering with. Vriska would leave her to die in a flash if that turned out to not be the case.

It was worth noting that this human had any experience with trolls at all, but Vriska decided she shouldn't be surprised by that. Not with how many of them seemed to be around here. So she shrugged and answered with a nonchalance that implied she didn't need to think hard on her response. "What doesn't? Your lusus system is weird, you have no sense of propriety, you eat the strangest stuff, you go out in sunlight, your culture is weak and boring, and your grubs are useless."

Her critique sounded harsh, and she meant it to. But there was something vague in the tone she used to list her complaints that made them sound hardly like complaints at all. In truth, Vriska liked humans and their odd culture. Maybe even to the point of envying them a little.

Culture shock was an interesting thing. Vriska waved off the comment about propriety with a snort, focusing instead on the words that came after. John was already thick-headed about where he left his pail. She wouldn't go through such an embarrassing talk again if she could avoid it. It wasn't even funny. "I don't get what you mean with all that crap about sinning, either. We're just different."

"I think we'll have to disagree about that," Vriska replied with another shrug. "Trolls do what they want. Vices, desires, cravings... those are all part of the game. Or they were." It was hard for her to remember that troll society wasn't really a thing that existed anymore. No love lost, it was simply still odd to realize sometimes. She followed the human to the door, scowling for the first time since they'd met up. "Ugh, good. If I die today, it will be from boredom."

It was a complaint about the surroundings, not the company. For a human, Chloe didn't seem half-bad. But Vriska was restless, and the atmosphere of the establishment wasn't doing her mood any favors.
