Summary: Terezi revives and finds herself in her room, then goes searching for Vriska.
Warnings: Angst!

[Terezi wakes up on her bed, and when she finds she can't move, she isn't quite as surprised as she was the first time it happened.

But this time, it lasts longer. Much longer, in fact. And just when she feels uneasy begin to gnaw at her, she hears a stomach turningly familiar crackle of energy at the foot of her bed. She can't see, of course, or turn her head, but she smells the sharp scent of limes and canine and oil that is so uniquely Jack, and she knows.

Uneasy turns to full on panic, and she struggles to move, but she can't even twitch a finger. She senses him regarding her coldly as he raises his sword, and in a way she can't understand, she knows he's not going to just kill her. He's going to play with her before she dies, he's going to make her suffer, and there's absolutely nothing she can do. She's going to die again, ten times more pathetically this time, and all she can do is close her eyes and focus on the sound of blood roaring in her ears.

And then suddenly the paralysis breaks and she can move again. Terezi scrambles up, pressing herself against the headboard and reaching for a sword that isn't there, only to find that Jack is gone. She freezes for a moment, gulping in deep breaths, but she can't smell him anymore. It's like he was never there at all.

She practically vaults off the bed in her desperation to get to the door and slams it shut behind her, struggling to catch her breath as she leans against it.]

[It's no surprise that Vriska feels left out, and she should really expect it. But it still makes her angry, but the anger drains pretty quickly because she's starting to get so tired. She watches them skeptically.]

[Terezi, you are so lucky his arm is broken. The face he makes makes him look like a drowned cat.]

Wow, I can't even be crippled in peace.

[Good, at least stupid Vriska isn't talking anymore.]

Nope!

[She leans against him again.]

Aren't you glad I am here?

[Ughhh, just shut up Terezi. She curls up further in the chair, resting her head against her knees. It's actually not all that long before her eyes drift shut and their voices fall away as she falls asleep.

She should probably be more wary with the people she'd injured in the room, but it's a little late for that now.]

I guess it could be worse.

[He glances over to Vriska briefly, frowning deftly.]

I have no idea why people compare me to her.

They shouldn't.

[That is a huge compliment, Karkat.]

I'm sorry you got caught in the middle of this.

Whatever. I should've been paying more attention. Nobody's fault but mine.

[She deadeyes him.]

How is this your fault at all?

How isn't it? Fuck, if I had just talked to her before all of this fucking happened...

[He smears his forehead in his palm, closing his eyes.]

Vriska doesn't listen to anyone.

[She reaches up to pull his hand away from his face.]

Don't be stupid, Karkat.

I'm serious, Terezi. This is what I do. It's not a fucking special occasion.

[He doesn't meet her eyes.]

[She sighs, squeezing his hand.]

I should have just killed her. Then no one would have gotten hurt.

Jegus fuck, no. That doesn't make you any better.

[Except that forces another stab of guilt to hit him.]

...but at least you didn't break your promise. I guess.

[She frowns.]

I guess. But she was my responsibility. I shouldn't have let this happen.

She's not your responsibility, unless you two have something really fucked up going on.

[He pauses for a second, looking back over at Vriska.]

This is how I lost everyone in the first place. By not fucking paying attention.

[...Oh.]

What happened?

If I knew, it probably wouldn't have fucking happened in the first place. Everyone just started killing each other over nothing.

That happened in our session, too. Eridan and Gamzee and Vriska killed everyone.

It was just Feferi. [Pause.] No, and I guess Captor too.

[She chews on her lip for a moment.]

I'm sorry, Karkat.

[Grunting]

Why are you apologizing?

Because that sucks.

Oh, well. Yeah.

[His eyelids lower again and he gives her brief warning before slipping back down into the bed at normal level.]

[She shifts slightly to allow him to lay down, then reaches out in a vain attempt to fix his hair. She shoots a glare at Vriska again.]

Ugghh, I wish she would just leave.

[He sighs softly, reaching up to swat at her hand lazily.]

Look, I get that she's fucking insane and everything, but you know that jealousy was what sparked that whole shitstorm, right?

I almost stole it right out of her when I found her. By accident, obviously.
