003 | ❝Just Wondering...❞

Characters: [OU] Riku Replica and anyone!
Setting: Dorm 2-14 (Roommates only), Option 1: Floor 3, option 2: Night, anywhere
Format: Starting in action, but I'll match you to the best of my ability.
Summary: Rep is surfacing from lying low after certain events and kind of tired of a few certain someones hounding him to get a name already.
Warnings: None currently.

[It had been some time since the events in the Dark World, the Illusionary Room especially. Self-preservation wasn't really something he had normally, but being continually harrassed by people who just didn't get it was something he'd rather avoid. Especially after what he can remember clearly from before this place.

...Which is probably why he is still so quick to try and leave even the dorm room again, considering at least one of his roommates is likely still less-than-pleased and he really doesn't have the patience. But then, his luck stats are in the negative.]

Option 1 - Floor 3

[After one rather short corridor trip and getting his foot stuck in a wall a total of zero times (it's a new feat, okay), he made his way to the library with only one thought in mind: find something on names. Not many he knew from home were good at naming things, so like he was going to ask them or even bring it up. Especially after he refused to pick one before.

This was something he should do on his own. Which is why he picked a book from the shelves and quietly started flipping through the pages.]

Option 2 - Anywhere, night!

[...At least until the metaphorical sun goes down. Instead he's out in the dark, just practicing magic at first. It didn't come as naturally as darkness, which is probably why even the sparks he makes is laced with it. But hey, it gets the job done. He just hopes he can lure monsters into a trap and see how they like being sliced by two blades instead of one. Creating secondary weapons from darkness was fun.]

[Well... he isn't exactly mad. Very irritated by the whole mess, yes. But not mad. Yet. Far be it from him to correct that assumption though, especially if it gets the other to start talking.

He settles back against the door again, arms crossing as he keeps his eyes trained on the Replica.

So far he's not exact known what to think, had wondered a lot just how the other had gotten caught up in that position, just how he had missed it happening...

He's heard about Ruana showing at the wedding and in retrospect he is kicking himself for not being there - he should have gone regardless of his personal feelings towards the groom - but well... What's done is done.

He can only try his best to find out the events down to the last detail and make sure that there won't be a repeat of that. ~~Next wedding he's not invited to? You bet, he'll be going. 8|~~]

Tell me what happened. All of it. Start at the wedding.

[Yes, this is not a request, he is prepared to be here for a while and he won't let you go until he's satisfied with the answers he's gotten.]

[Same difference in his book. Shaking his head, he stays as far away from the walls as he can ~~aw yeah crashing weddings together~~.]

I went to make sure no one messed with a few who attended. [More like one, but he wasn't about to let his weakness be so blatant.] Everything seemed fine, if not a little uneasy with two of the admins there. But just as the vows ended, Ganondorf stood up and tried to curse Ruana and Zo, not caring if there were innocents caught in the crossfire. Of course, Zo blocked that like he blocked that other "admin's" attacks. He went on a tirade, and while I didn't agree [Stressing that point.] --I think he was right about how the worlds are destroyed.

[He pauses for a moment there. Remember how he disappeared for two weeks? ...Yeeeaaah. There's a reason he seems agitated--]

Someone began to defend the admins, denying that his world was dead. I wouldn't have any of it.

[--Because he found Namine and Sora there. Dead where he left them. Also Riku and Axel, but he didn't care about the latter of the four.]

[Pft, he won't want to see Riku mad; it's not pretty. Really. He should be glad he's only got irritated. ~~/bro(?)fist?~~

He only nods mutely - he's had his own trip home for a month already after all and well... any assumptions he had made about the impossibility of all the worlds being destroyed until that point had been thoroughly shattered from that point onwards. As untrustworthy as the admins may be... the worlds are gone. That much is fact.

He closes his eyes and sighs quietly, shaking his head - don't get him wrong, he understands blowing up on whoever that had been, but...]

Not everyone gets sent back to see it. In some cases that's a good thing.

[Certainly not in this one, because well... anyone who thinks the administrators need defending is an idiot and probably needs the reality check. But well, that's not exactly who is thinking about. Some need to keep believing that the worlds still exist so they can have hope to return there.

Riku himself doesn't. He holds his hopes elsewhere.

Anyways. Go on with your story!]

[He knows what he's like when mad enough to know ok. ~~reluctant...bro...fist~~

Also screw that naivety when someone very dark and very powerful is taunting a large group. There's enough stupidity in this tower as it is. Especially with all that's happened in the short time he's been here.]

Maybe, but it wasn't this time. [Because it ended up with Ganon singling him out. Though... maybe he should thank that naive fool.] Didn't run into him again until after Axel's "twin" disappeared and Dax was killed. He asked if I'd like to help out with a distraction, and when I found out who was going to be thrown in... how could I say no?

[Y e a h . . . Not naming names, but the list of people he knows and commonalities in the lists of who attended and who was tossed into the Dark World was a bit short...

Watching a mad scientist die a painful death was icing on the shitty circumstance cake.]

[He thinks so at least. ~~Most reluctant ever.~~

Certainly, there is way too much stupidity around... way too many people who are too naive in their dealings with people like Ganondorf or the administrators. There is a flicker of sadness and regret flashing through Riku's eyes before he sighs and reaches up to rub his eyes and the bridge of his nose. it's a tricky situation - put into those shoes, Riku can't be entirely sure if he wouldn't have said yes as well, and for a moment he feels hatred flare, but he tugs it away into the darkest corner of his heart. He'll make use of it whenever it's time for him to finally face Ganondorf directly.]

...Can't say I blame you.

[~~Though... if he finds out about certain details... that might change.~~

Riku certainly isn't surprised there's a list - he had sensed Ganondorf's hand in his own arrival in the Dark World... and he doubts that Xion's presence there had been entirely coincidental either. ...It's all a mess, really.]

...And now?

[real thing plz ~~and there is no such thing as there being anything more reluctant~~.

He's silent for a brief moment, frowning to himself before glancing away. No way was he even going to acknowledge pity in any form. Even if it worked to his advantage in regards to the others, he wasn't going to accept it right now. He's in a tight spot as it is with his brief affiliation with the others of more questionable intentions. It all reeked of the Organization, and as if he wanted to be blatantly used like that again deep down.

Yet as it stood... did he have much of a choice when he knew vaguely of what happened to Ryoji? But then, he never really spoke up about what he'd overheard or what happened until now.]

...Now is the same as before. [He looks to meet his real thing's eyes.] I only side with my friends. ...Even if it means playing his puppet and their hatred.

[If it makes him feel better, he can think of it as sympathy, gheez. And it's not like Riku is going to bring it up in any way apart of the statement he's already made anyways.

He lets his eyes drift to the ground as his Replica speaks and he starts frowning, though more thoughtful rather than disapproving. It's quite a mess the other had gotten stuck in, but for now it's one that can be dealt with - he's sure of that. They can deal with it. ~~Yes, they. Riku is not going to leave him by himself with this. :|~~

Though... he can't help, but wonder... maybe there is also some advantage to it. Maybe...

Well, there is no use wondering without knowing one thing.]

...How far are you willing to play the game?

[Nope because he is stubborn and this is awkward and dangerous enough to begin with.

He catches that look in the end, though he really doesn't know what to think about it. Rep was used to fighting on his own, not really having anyone. It's how he rolled in his ~~worthless~~ short life. Why would the real thing that scorned his own shadow want anything to do with him; it doesn't make sense why he's even asking that!

...The replica crosses his arms, partially trying to restrain himself from doing something dumb, and partially trying to think of how to word this. ~~no really how does he use his words???~~]

[Somewhere in the back of his mind, he considers that this may very well be a trap, but he has to live with him however long this stupid tower decides to prolong the inevitable. Sigh.]

Whatever it takes.

[Riku would call him a drama queen, except that he agrees that this is dangerous... and well. A little awkward. But they can make it work... because yeah. He does care about what happens to his Replica.

Because, even if born artificially - a heart is still a heart.

Yeah, he can thank Xion at very least partly (if not mostly) for the change in the real thing's opinion and understanding of Replicas.

He acknowledges that answer with a nod, then presses his lips together - while he had almost expected the answer, it's still not quite that simple.]

How much do you know about what happened when... 'Axel's twin', as you called him, got involved with him?

[Well that would be a new one for him, just like actually getting alone with a face twin that wasn't the other Riku. (There would be jokes about worlds ending, but for some reason, that seems a little callous and rude, given the circumstances...)

He raises an eyebrow for a moment before rolling his eyes.]

I heard a few stories, and I saw what happened at the wedding- [A smirk plays at the corner of his lips, but vanishes as though it weren't there at all.] ...remember?

[If the full story was anything like what he saw and the reaction of that crystal turning black...]

[(It would be a bit tactless. ...On the other hand, it's not like Riku is really known for tact - at least not at age fifteen.)

He shoots the other a sharp look - it's not a laughing matter and while he is certain (or at least hopeful) that the other is taking this seriously, he has to make absolutely sure that the other is aware of the stakes and the consequences if he is found out.

For all that he is utterly indifferent towards Reno, for all that he thinks that the other had been utterly careless, to the point of idiocy really... he had lasted for quite a while as spy within Ganondorf's cycle.]

I just want to make sure that you know what you are getting into. Reno was careless, got caught and Xion paid for it. I don't want that situation to repeat itself ever again.

[Back then they had been just lucky after all. Just very, very lucky and Riku is very sure that that is the only reason he and Xion had survived that night. He is stronger now than he was back then, has learned a lot - in the proper way even - but... It's not enough to take on the likes of Ganondorf.

Not yet.]

[Geez, real thing... did you forget what it's like to try and lighten the mood? Granted they suck at it, but still!

Rep rolls his eyes, but grows serious again at that look ~~killjoy~~. Really, he gets it. He gets it better than most considering his own background. Being made by the Organization had a few perks other than superb typing skills (we're looking at you Sora what even is that poking a key or three).]

It won't. Believe me, I'm already being careful about it.

[Really, this is the first time he's even talked about his motives. Never told any of the others why he decided to help other than flipping the admins off by doing his part. Maybe that in itself was being a different brand of careless idiocy, but he could care less if it meant helping the ones he cared about.]

No one else knows.

[And he's planning on keeping it that way, save an apology to one person.]

[Well, this is a topic that doesn't deserve a lightened mood. And as you just pointed out, it isn't a skill he particularly excels at anyways.

(Sora is a special case; he's naturally toxic for computers and keyboards.)

He nods - he hadn't expected anyone to know, not given how hard a time he had to get the other to talk himself, and still he is relieved.]

We'll keep it that way.

[Yes, 'we'. Riku intends to help in any way he can, directly or otherwise.]

[Real Thing. Wha-? HE DID NOT SIGN UP FO DIS.]

What do you mean, "we"?

[Dude he so does not need a babysitter of an original, okay. He is totally fine on his own.

By which we mean He is still not used to you wanting to help him instead of going at each other's throats like they did in his short lifespan. What the heck happened to change this?]

[For just a second, Riku is grinning - really, the face his Replica is making is priceless. He pulls it back into something more serious just as quickly; the other probably doesn't appreciate him laughing at this.]

I mean, that I won't tell on you. And that, if- [Or really, all things considered, when.] -this ends you up in trouble, I'll do my best to help you.

[He is not going to babysit, don't worry.]

[He supposes he could thank his real thing for the very small vote of confidence... but he's sensing that "if" being a "when" and considering their luck stats his amount of surprise is at -20%. Because it's Riku, and who better to know how he is/was than his friends and those based from him?

Also no, he doesn't appreciate the laughter

...Though he will appreciate the help, despite how he feigns disinterest and annoyance. He turns around, waving it off.]

[Aww, Rep. Don't worry, he can read through your tsun quite well.

He smirks amused at that statement though - he is probably the best help the other can get for this particular play (out of their worlds at least), but of course, the other has no way of knowing why.]

After Castle Oblivion, I spent the better part of ten months leading the Organization on as "the Impostor". I like to think I know how to keep a charade going.

[He's learned subtlety since their last... 'encounter' back home, has learned to reign back his temper, to draw back in the shadows and listen attentively, that mystery can be a weapon and how to use it effectively.

If his part in this particular charade is to ignore the other safe for the times when they are unwatched then expect him to pull it off flawlessly.

But yeah... You are welcome.]

[He both hopes so and doesn't.

The replica rolls his eyes, but he does listen. As he does, something like amusement crosses his face for a bit (too bad you can't see it with his back turned, because the idea of the Organization being hoodwinked (PFFFT) by the one who defeated him for good is priceless) before turning around, realizing that implication.

He'd mastered what he now needs to fully learn. Not to protect himself, but the one person who...was the only family he didn't even get to know that he had.

I'll take your word for that. [a beat] ...For now.

[He smirks slightly. Yeah, he caught that... and to say thanks in another way--]

...It's Ira, by the way.

Riku's smirk widens, because well... the other more than can take his word for that. ~~And maybe he'll give him some pointers, if the need arises. And if he's asked nicely.~~

The smirk fades when the other reveals his name though, and Riku in turn realizes at least some of those implications himself. He starts to smile (with just a small touch of hesitation) as he reaches out and offers the other his hand to shake.]

...It's nice to meet you, Ira.

[Not as his Replica, but as a different person, as him, with all that comes with that. Maybe it's just Riku that feels that way, but somehow this moment, this conversation, is like a turning point. A new beginning.

He really hopes it will lead them to something more constructive than a battle to the death.]

[Nah, it's just... on one hand he kind of hopes that Riku can see through their brand of tsun. On the other, he hopes his is a bit more different than that by now.

Also hush you he has a few months to catch up on. ~~...Can you help him on the asking things politely thing? He has no idea what that is.~~

Ira blinks once, looking down at that hand and realizing the implications behind it. Was he... really accepting him as his own person and not just the shadow he is was? Was this actually- happening?

He's speechless for a moment as he nods, maybe even more hesitant (would he disappear if he did that?) to accept that handshake. He feels like he could or maybe wake up and realize that this was all a dream, yet he does it, anyway.]

...You too, Reeku.

[Damn, that's going to take a while to get used to.

Go on. Laugh at his stutter. 8| It's weird, okay?!]

Also, if Ira ever thinks about it, he might realize that in his time in the tower, Riku has never once called him 'fake'. This is just proper confirmation of what he's been thinking... probably ever since he's grown close to Xion.

And, yeah he'll smirk just a second at the stutter. Can't let you totally get away with things like that, can he?]

[He's slowly realizing that, yeah...

Ira shakes his head, dropping Riku's hand like a hot potato. Nope. Not smirking at his own mistake. Hush, yew.]

[Never. Letting. Ira live that down. jsyk. He'll find the most fitting moment to bring it up and tease Ira in the future.

For now he'll be satisfied with how far they've come and move to unseal the room again. Because yeah... better not have Data and Yosuke stumble across that unless they absolutely have to.

And it's not like they have anything else pressing to talk about. Or is there?]

And yeah, that likely would not be the best thing for their roommates to discover. They are done talking, after all (for now).]

Oh, and steer clear of that kid with the yellow scarf for a little while. They caught him trying to share information with the tower at large.

Riku turns his head in interest when Ira speaks up again, frowning lightly after a moment.]
