Setting: Observatory, and maybe other places.
Format: Action
Summary: Two dweebs play verbal catch up and probably get up to some mischief.

[A couple of days after his initial arrival, and talk with himself, John decides that today is the day to have that talk face to face with his other self. ~~Here we can assume they spoke the night before through the terminals and set up the time~~, around one in the afternoon John shows up at room 1-12 and the two of them begin walking up to the Observatory.

Okay, I sorted my thoughts out at least before we did this. But first of all, I need to know the very last thing you remember before Pokemon land, okay? So I know where to start or something.

[TAKE THEM TO A NICE PLACE TO SIT TOO.]

[Apparently John has some kind of aversion to putting his Lampent inside her ball or something, because she's been following the two boys ever since Big John showed up at Little John's door.]

Well, like I said, Jade wasn't even in the game yet.

[The floor is a good place to sit, right? Of course it is. Nice and comfy. Come, Big John. Join him.]

But to be specific, it was right after I finished Nanna's ghost cooking. I just sat down and was about to start setting things up for Jade and suddenly...bam! I wake up in a bed that not only isn't floating but is decidedly NOT mine and having some weird lady tell me she's my mom and it's time for me to go on my Pokémon journey. I don't even remember falling asleep, to tell you the truth. It was a little disorienting.

Oh, but I suppose I should mention that Rose, Vriska, and Karkat have filled me in on a few things. Like the whole God Tier thing and the Golden ship and...Dad. [Awkward pause because Dad. Sob.] But obviously even between the three of them I only have the general overview and not all the little details. You know, since they aren't us.

Alright, well.

[He sits down with other John, lifting his hands as soon as he started speaking.]

What is going to happen is basically a bunch of bullshit. A lot of inbetween stuff that is going to literally pave your way to the point I am at now. Ehhh, I guess if we wanted to go into more detail. Basically you're going to get to your quest bed and you're going to die there. If you talked to Vriska then I guess you know she helped you?

Since death is like a thing around here, the way you die is by being stabbed. In the chest. I saw my own body it was pretty horrible.

[Dad is hard to talk about. There is literally nothing worse than seeing your own father dead. There is no way he can even find a good way to explain the sheer horror he felt when he and Rose discovered their parents. He remembers having shoved that in the back of his mind for the longest time, ha.]

Yeah, Dad. Mom Lalonde too.

[He seems to flinch somewhat at the mention of seeing your own dead body. Because after seeing his own drowned body and dismembered parts in a sea of corpses last month, he has to agree. Seeing your own dead body is pretty horrible.]

[But he can only imagine what it was like to find Dad's corpse. He may not have experienced it himself, but it's something that he too tries not to think about. So he's definitely not going to push that particular matter.]

Yeah, she told me about the quest bed thing. Not about the stabbing, I don't think. It was over a year ago when she told be but I think I would remember a detail like that. But what happens after that? There's a big gap between Vriska's "I make you go god tier" story and Rose's "we run into each other in a castle and also I am possessed by space squids" story. And then another gap between that and "hey so you make the Scratch happen and then you're on this giant golden ship for three years and basically none of us know what you're doing during that time, sorry."

[It is pretty gruesome. John would hate for this John to have to see his dead body after he got stabbed. He would also hate to see himself chopped up so that is likely left unsaid at this point.

He would talk about if John asked. It is his Dad too after all.]

There isn't much to tell. I guess. I mean of course we had to find our way to the Battlefield. It's really hard to say. The most important thing to know about all that is after you find Dad, you're going to face Jack Noir and die. But it's cool, you come back to life and save Rose's life.

By kissing her corpse, right? [He pulls his knees up to his chest, resting his cheek on them and looking at John. He's pretty nonchalant about it.] This being after we apparently propose to her in a castle full of dead bodies?

[Yeah, Rose totally left out the part where he only said that because he was nervous and didn't actually mean it.]

Yeah, we basically save her life. [He mirrors the other John, except it might look awkward with how tall he is.] Ha, well. Something like that. Not that we meant that.

Mmmm. [It doesn't sound like he's agreeing, exactly. But at the same time it doesn't sound like he's disagreeing either. It's complicated, Big John. But he'll save this particular issue for later. Unless you happen to comment on that shiny silver and diamond ring on his finger at some point before he remembers to bring it up.]

[Either way, other you has some secrets.]

So then what?

Mmm, I think we need to address the humming. Do you think something different happens at the tower, John? We did say some things to Rose. We aren't ready for that yet, and you know it.

[Too young? Maybe. The ring poses many questions for him. Okay? He just...hasn't asked!]

What? No! No, I wasn't doubting you. Of course we didn't mean it. [He laughs a little.] I mean, who seriously asks something like that at thirteen? Even if it is the end of the world and there's an alien shipping grid to consider.

Anyways, on with the story. Basically we have to initiate a scratch to save our session because wow did it get fucked up somewhere along the way and we were just doomed as fuck at that point. So we get on a huge battleship with Jade and orange bird Dave and Nannasprite and Jaspers.

Boy that is going to be an adventure for you, especially when you find out orange bird Dave and Jade were a thing that happened.

Orange...bird Dave? Oh right! The one from the future! Hehe, so Jade finally hooked up with a Dave then?

[About damn time. We all knew she had a thing for Dave, it was obvious to everyone with eyes.]

To be honest, I doubt I will ever find out for myself. Even if our worlds haven't been destroyed, I have no intention of going back to play SBURB again. Greener pastures and all that, Johto is much better.

So what all did we do on this ship exactly. I mean we were going to be stuck on it for three years, right? Sounds boring as hell.

Well yes. But then on our birthday he broke up with her, and I guess I kind of threw a huge temper tantrum because I was sick of hearing about him and I was sick of him never showing his stupid orange face around the ship.

Okay, I was tired of a lot of things actually because there isn't a lot to do on this ship. The last straw was trying to watch Con Air and then throwing that fit over Dave sprite. I definitely...don't remember anything after that. I'm pretty sure when I just said fuck it and started napping on the driveway is when this place stole me.

[He sighs.]

I want to see Johto.

Oh I s-- wait, driveway? I thought you were on a ship. How does a ship have a driveway and what's wrong with Con Air?

[He'll address how awesome Johto is in a minute. Right now, these are clearly the important things.]

Well, we were also able to go to our house? Don't ask how. Space powers, probably. But we were there in our driveway throwing a temper tantrum. We just decided to nap right in the driveway.

Con Air sucks. I guess. I don't know, maybe I was just angry.

Uh...right. Okay. Makes as much sense as anything else that happened in the game so I will take your word for it.

[Fucking SBURB.]

Angry at what? Davesprite? Gotta admit, it's a little weird to hear myself say Con Air sucks. Granted, I haven't seen it myself in over two years now. Johto had a ripoff but it just wasn't really the same.

The thing to remember here is that nothing is going to make sense when you get passed a certain point. The trolls don't make sense, Dave starts not making sense. It's like...god I don't know. We just have to roll with this shit.

[Fucking SBURB is right.]

Yeah, we get so mad at him. It's a blinding rage. I think I may have overreacted that day. I haven't tried watching it since. But it just wasn't doing it for me that day.

Yeah. You'll find that that concept isn't limited to SBURB either. Johto had a lot of things that you just stopped questioning after a while and take a good look at some of the floors here. Some of them don't a lick of make sense.

I see. Well I guess...now I have the whole story then? Or is there something else I am missing. [He starts ticing the facts off on his fingers.] Jade gets into the game, shit hits the fan because Bec, Vriska makes me go god tier, I run into Rose, we find out some...things, [There's a moment's hesitation surrounding the word "things". Hopefully Big John gets it without him having to clarify.] she dies, I kiss her back to life, I go start the Scratch, wind up on a ship with Jade and all the sprites, Jade and Bird Dave start dating, Jade and Bird Dave break up, and then I pass out in the driveway.

[And that's the story of John Egbert?]

I think we're doomed to never understand anything man. That is exactly what it feels like to me. Someone has gone and fucked up our sense of understand and we are never ever fucking getting it back at this point. I've definitely stumbled across shit here that didn't make sense.

Pretty much. There isn't much after that. You pass way the fuck out and that is that. I guess something important will happen after we wake up? Who knows. But for now you have the entire story in abridged form, haha. [Things...]

Okay now you have to answer me a question, and I want you to answer this honestly. When I mentioned that we proposed to Rose- did you take me literally, are you and Rose more than dating right now?

[Basically John is looking at his ring, okay. He wants to know.]

I...well. Okay, technically I already knew about the proposal thing? Rose told me about it and she made it sound the same way. And I mean, back in the game I didn't really feel that way about her so like...I knew we didn't really mean it, like you said so basically...

[Hey, Big John. What's it like to hear yourself fluster-ramble? Little John gives a defeated sigh.]

We are, yes. Rose and I have been engaged for over a year now.

[John is listening intently, he promises. He really is just trying to take all of this in and maybe wonder what was running through his alternates head when he actually went through with the proposal.]

I kind of suspected it. I just didn't want to assume anything. [He grins. His alternate is just...so much more mature than he is.]

[Ask him about it some time, I dare you. The answer is not as mature as you'd think.]

Yeah well...now you know! So...you don't have to assume.

[He's literally never been embarrassed to tell anybody else about the fact that he and Rose are engaged. Why the hell is it such a big deal to tell his alt self?? He just doesn't know but it would be awesome if his cheeks would go back to their usual color and temperature.]

Um...so you wanted to know about Johto, right?

[Subject change??]

[Probably because they are the same person, but with different feelings on the subject. John is happy for John! But he wouldn't choose this path for himself. He would definitely take a different choice in the end. It's...not that he doesn't want love some day.

He just needs to find the right person.]

Yeah! Definitely. I want to know all about it.

[He'll let you subject change just this once.]

[You're a good man, John Egbert.]

Okay well...uh. Was there anything you wanted to know specifically or just like, a general overview?

[Haha, no. You're a good man. Alternate John Egbert.]

How about just giving me an overview?

[No, you!]

Alright well...I think I told you but I was there for almost two years exactly. I somehow managed to go backwards and got there on January 17th because that makes sense, right? [Universes, man. Time bullshit.]

It almost everybody from home was already there though, Rose was the only one from our session who wasn't and I guess there were some trolls missing too, I don't really remember who at this point. But Karkat and Vriska were there. Then Rose showed up a week later and that was pretty cool. Uh...we all managed to meet up in Violet City eventually which is kind of like...the analogue to Pewter if we're comparing it to the games. First badge city. We got stuck there for a while and that blew chunks but eventually we left.

Some stuff happened...we traveled around for a while. There were some undead cicadas that snatched people's souls that first summer. Some more stuff happened...lots of people came and went and came back again and for some reason Dave did this five times because Johto just couldn't decide if it wanted to keep him or not.

Team Rocket pulled some schemes and basically all of them failed. There was a Pokémon love song-spell thing on my Second Valentine's there. Um...what else. I'm trying to think of the big stuff. Oh! There was that one time I was turned into a freakish Pokémutant. That pretty much sucked Pidgey eggs.

Hmmm...

[Thinking, thinking...what else happened.]

[Wow does he really have to insist that you are the good man here!?]

Right, because everything with time involved makes sense. [He laughs.] Protip man, it never will make sense.

[John gives himself time to process the rest of it. Yeah sure John had played plenty of Pokemon games. Original ones included. So he's playing out the maps in his head. Oh man getting stuck in first badge town would really suck balls (haha, punny as hell).]

Sounds like Team Rocket, no lie. They never succeed anyways. But some of this stuff. Like that doesn't sound like something that would happen. Like, becoming a Pokémutant. Is there really an explanation for that?

Actually that was apparently a Team Rocket thing. I guess they were trying to like...give themselves powers or something? That's about the only thing that makes sense to me in retrospect. They captured Suicune at one point, which pissed off Raikou and Entei and the weather pretty much flipped its shit for a few days because of that. Then like a month later people wound up mutating into like...mini Johto beasts. And had powers to go along with it.

[Let him tell you about being a level five, John. Let him tell you how much it sucked.]

And there were some Rocket attacks alongside the outbreak too, on some of the gyms and the centers and stuff. I think basically their plan backfired. I don't think they meant for it to infect the general population.

Oh dude. Not even cool. you can't just take Suicune out of the picture like that. I mean, it fucks up the balance! [John knows his Pokemon, okay. You catch one you have to catch all or shit will just not be right.] Team Rocket never really wins though, so I guess that's a good thing.

[Ew, weak man. Weak.]

Whether they meant it or not is pretty irrelevant. They still tried to fuck shit up.

Well luckily all three of them got away, but yeah. Dumb move on their part. But they are actually more competent in the real Johto than they ever were in the games. It's kind of weird. They hijacked the magnet train when it first opened too.

[John looks almost wistful for a moment.]

It was a ride to remember! [John, train heists are really not all that cool wtf is wrong with you.]

I would assume an actual Johto with actual Team Rocket would be a little bit more realistic and tough rather than that of a story driven video game.

[John crosses his legs and rests his elbows on his knees.]

Tell me about that. I want to know. [You have him curious. Okay.]
