from fairest creatures
Characters: OU!England and you!
Setting: Kitchen or Floor 19, the new library.
Format: Starting prose, but I'm flexible, baby.;D
Summary: He's a bit disturbed by the lack of tea and history textbooks in this tower.
Warnings: England in the kitchen (but don't worry, only for tea!), probably language, and flying mint bunny.
Kitchen;;
He hadn't the faintest idea exactly how that trunk had been packed to encompass all of his basic needs, but he had never been more thankful for it as he was when he arrived in the kitchen and realized that this place lacked a supply of tea. He had brought his own tea down regardless of what he expected to find -- he trusted his own supply and brands far more than anything the tower had to offer -- but it was troubling to know that he'd probably end up having to ration what he had.
A deep sigh fell from the kingdom as he leaned back against the counter next to the stove, where the water waited to boil. He only hoped that the power wouldn't blip out while the stove was on, as it had seemed to be keen on doing this month thus far -- with the rate at which his nerves were fraying, he needed a cup of jasmine post-haste.
Floor 19;;
"There's nothing up there, either?" he questioned, craning his head back to look at the winged green creature hovering near the highest shelves. When the soft voice answered in the negative, England's generous eyebrows furrowed in perplexity.
The entire history section was gone from this library. Something about that disturbed him to his core. Those weren't just dry retellings of things that most people didn't care about anymore; those were his memories. The story of his life, and the lives of all of his comrades, as well. Stories that would die if they weren't passed down.
Chunks had been carved out of some other sections as well, it seemed. England was skeptical that the removals were at random, especially with one section all but eradicated. The pudgy rabbit fluttered down to rest on his shoulder, and he absently reached up a hand to stroke its head as he pondered. To anyone without a sight for fairies and the supernatural, it would look more like a gesture of madness to empty air at the side of his head, but England had more important things to worry about at the moment than his perceived sanity.

Most people I've met cannot perceive her at all, nor any others like her; I'm sorry for assuming that it was the same for you. [He just generally finds that it's best to assume that people can't see her, as unfortunate as that is.]
Could I be so bold as to ask what your friend is like? [He smiles a little as the rabbit noses at Cojiro.] They must be quite charming.
no subject
[ She smiles faintly. Link is not much of a talker herself, but... she is fond of Navi.
Cojiro ruffles his feathers a bit. Hello there, rabbit. I am a blue chicken. Let us be strangely colored animals together? ]
Navi? Well... she's a fairy. I suppose most would see her as more of a blue ball of light with wings. Most of my people have fairy companions like her--we usually travel together.
[ She reaches out a gloved hand, gently, hoping to pet the mint bunny, if it allows her to. ]

We can form a coalition of strangely-colored animals with those ponies. she eventually asks.
England, of course, must contain his excitement at the word 'fairy', as it would be rather undignified to get too gleeful in the elf stranger's presence. He does smile, though.]
That's brilliant-- ah, your people? [HE HAS SO MANY QUESTIONS, WHY IS FOLKLORE SO EXCITING. The bunny will, of course, joyfully consent to pets, moving closer to Link's hand.]
no subject
Link is used to this by now. She won't judge if you're curious, England. ]
How sad... magic is very common in Hyrule--I use it myself.
[ A pause. Hmm... gosh, she is so used to Navi doing all this talking for her! She supposes that 'social' thing and speaking is something she will need to learn how to do here. ]
Well, I was raised in a forest. Adopted by the Guardian there. But... they're called the Kokiri... and everyone has a fairy partner. Though none of them leave the forest or age.
no subject
And England is very curious indeed. But, he has to remedy one thing first.] I'm sorry, I've been terribly rude; asking you all this without even introducing myself... [He gives a somewhat unsure smile and inclines his head a little in lieu of a full bow.] Arthur Kirkland. It's very nice to meet you.
no subject
This is usually where Navi would say stuff for her, huh. It's odd, not just nodding or saying yes and no, for her. ]
... Link.
[ She keeps feeling somehow oddly inadequate when she hears people with two names. It's... not very common to have a last name where she's from
unless you're a owl. ]It's... nice to meet you. Arthur... right?
[ WHAT IS A LAST NAME? Can you eat it-- ]
Hyrule-tan would be neat, as a sidenote.
Correct. You're from...'Hyrule', you said? [He supposes that's a country, but considering he's never met a Hyrule in all his life, he deduces that Link must be from another world entirely, which probably explains the odd dilemma that he'd previously encountered about the sight. Glad to have that cleared up, he goes on:] I hail from England. [...in a way.]
... Not even sure what Hyrule-tan would be like but now I want this badly.
[ Well, her world has a lot of oddness, but not Nations in the form of people.
A pause. A headtilt. ]
... Are you not Hylian, then?
i think fandom has a new assignment.
He smiles with good humour.] I'm afraid I'm not. The demonym for what I am would be either "English" or "British".
[Though, as not to risk making Link feel ignorant or anything similar:] I've never heard of Hyrule, myself, so I suppose it's all even.
I am trying to figure out what they'd be LIKE lmao.
We are from different worlds, then... to be honest, I have not ventured all that far from Hyrule.
[ She then turns and looks at the books that are clearly missing from their shelf area, now, and frowns, but attempts to smile anyway. ]
... The history of this place and even our own homes are absent... I must admit, I'm disappointed; I do not know much of either.
...man i've got nothing, this is hard.
He's traveled more than enough in his lifetime, but he doesn't want to trouble Link with the specifics. He instead turns to look at the empty bookshelf again, and gives a small sigh.] I'm rather well-versed in British history, [oh how funny, England] so I do find it a tad eerie that the section has been cleared out as it has.
[He has to think for a moment after this.] I wonder if the other library still has a history section. Maybe you could look into checking there.
I AM WORKING ON THIS IDEA... but I can't draw : |a
I haven't thought to look... perhaps I will later, though.
[ If they could find something, it may be worth while. She was still looking for a room holding the map or compass to this odd tower, honestly, but books could be informative too, she supposed.
But she is a bit curious as to what England's world is like. Perhaps his country, first? ]
Forgive me my ignorance on this, but... what is 'England' like?
...i am excite, i want to see ;u;
He seems a little surprised -- though pleasantly -- at Link's interest in his home, and gives a small chuckle.] It would be very unfair to expect you to know a country that is not of your world. I was equally ignorant of yours before this conversation.
[That said, he thinks a little bit. Well, most people would say he's stuffy and irritable, but Link didn't ask for a summary of his personality.] There's a lot of rain. [Easiest thing to start with!] It's off the north coast of the continental mainland and shares the island with Scotland and Wales, other countries of the United Kingdom. [Screw you, Ireland.]
Much of England itself is either rolling green hills or plains, in terms of land. Though there are mountains in the north. [He pauses. Admittedly, sometimes he finds it a little hard to talk about himself as he is in the current day, especially since most people aren't normally interested.] Is there anything in particular that you'd like to know about?
HAHA, DO YOU HAVE PLURK...
She had a lot of questions, of course, but perhaps she should start with the simpler ones. ]
It sounds similar to Hyrule... are there different races who live in your mountains and your waterways?
totally do, just got one actually, it's ceesawaseesaw
He seems to have a bit of trouble with his answer to the question, eyebrows furrowed thoughtfully.] There are, however...just as with my friend here, [he indicates the flying mint bunny] most people cannot see them, and consider them to be mere fairytales.
[He sighs a little.] It's a shame, really.
Mine is Catphones <3 adding you
[ Honestly, Link is rather perplexed. Though, perhaps this is because she grew up in a fairy forest where everyone there is eternally a child and their guardian spirit was a talking tree. ]
Perhaps they need clearer vision...?
[ She finds herself considering the Lens of Truth, tucked safely away in her things right now. ]
i warn, i am awful at this plurk thing herpderp
It's as if they don't even exist to most humans, even those with good vision. I don't know how one would go about granting someone the sight necessary to interact with them. [He's heard of a few rituals, but they've never been necessary for him, so he's unsure of their reliability. He looks at Link curiously.] Do you have an idea, perchance?
THAT'S OKAY <333 we can communicate regardless *u*
She feels this is somewhat self-explanatory, but... just in case, although this was normally Navi's expertise, well, she'd explain. ]
You could show them? With this. It's called the Lens of Truth. ... It uses magic power, of course... is that a problem?
[ Headtilt. Hylians and Kokiri are naturally attuned to that sort of thing in her world, though... she was just a bit special even then, thanks to quite a bit of adventuring. ]
sounds fun, bro ;w; <3
...most people of my world do not believe in magic. I am not sure if that would make a difference or not.
[But honestly, he sounds kind of distracted while he says that, mesmerized by the magnifying glass. Cut the man some slack, he's not advanced enough with most magic to manage anything like this and he's got to nerd over something in this tower
thank god he hasn't met the Doctor yet.]no subject
Well, then they just need to see it when I'm holding it.
no subject
Brilliant. I suppose this is an artifact of your world; or is there any way to go about enchanting one of these for myself?
no subject
I'm afraid getting this one was quite a journey for me... I wouldn't know how to make one. It seems to be more the former. But I would be happy to aid you if you'd like?
