Summary: Modifications are over here, Vergil's the most upset about being brainwashed, let me know if you want to run into him normal or malfunctioning
Warnings: Same as all the other event posts, really, though body horror's pretty low as are chances of death, mostly just injury or while malfunctioning

Cafeteria
[Upon hearing the administrators could force residents into performing menial tasks, Vergil swore it would never happen to him. He would never allow it to. But, just the same, somehow he finds himself serving up meals in the cafeteria, mechanically going about the job. As much as he tries to force himself, he can't stop, or even speak to announce he would never be doing this if it were up to him.

He also can't help but want to touch others, or have them touch his now blue, almost snake-like skin. The purpose for this, the rational mind doesn't know, but it doesn't stop his body from making attempts to offer food in a way that makes contact probable.]

Dorm halls
[At other times, he finds himself pushing a broom down the halls, somehow even more degrading than the cafeteria duty. His hands may shake some in his attempts to stop himself, but otherwise, there's really nothing to indicate he doesn't want to be doing this.]

Anywhere else
[Any other worker unit tasks? He's probably found doing them at some point in the week, his mind screaming no all the while.

As for malfunctions, he takes to watching other tower residents, usually in full demon form.]

[If he could ask anyone for help, there may be some small chance he would stoop so low as to ask it of Kariya. But of course, he can't, all he can do is stare at Kariya, a plate of nutrition bars in hand. His eyes dart downwards once, in an attempt to force himself to move or speak.]

[Kariya doesn't take a nutrition bar, staring at Vergil instead. He isn't even that hungry, though he forces himself to eat at times.]

This isn't right. There must be something I can do.

[It's likely there isn't, but Kariya always thinks there's something he can do. He's sure Vergil's mother would want him to do something. She was his friend. He can't just leave her son like this. He wouldn't like to think of something like this happening to Sakura or Rin. He studies Vergil's face, looking for any sign of a response.]

Is there some way I can help you?

[He doesn't see any way around it, other than, perhaps death. That seems to be the way in the tower, injuries and ailments are cured with the new body, so, why shouldn't this mindcontrol - or rather, bodycontrol. He still carries his sword, and with no small amount of effort, drops it to the floor, willing his body to think he needs his other hand to hold the plate. Honestly he doubts Kariya would be up to the task even if he understands the line of thought, but what else is he to do or say?]

[Kariya stares down at the sword, taking a moment to think. He knows Vergil couldn't have dropped it by accident.]

No. No, I don't think that's a good idea...

[Diarmuid had killed Kariya in the Tower, but only after he'd been dying for some time after being turned into a mermaid. It was true that the death had returned him to himself, but he doesn't like the thought of killing anyone, especially not Eva's son. What would Eva say?]

This is Jason's month. It might be different. [It's not the same as an ordinary problem in the Tower. Although he's not sure. How can he be sure?] There must be some other way.

[It might not change anything, they could just alter him again, he knows, but even costing the administration the time it would take to do so is good enough for him. But then, he hadn't expected any other reply from Kariya, he was a weak man, after all.

Some other way, though? Vergil's not so sure. Maybe there would be for someone like him, if the situation were reversed, but not for simple humans.

He turns his gaze to the elevator. If there's anything, it would be in the administrative areas, most likely.]

[It's fortunate that Vergil can't verbalize that weak comment. That would make him angry. It's something of a sore point at the moment, more so than usual.

Kariya picks up Vergil's sword. It's heavy. He's still thinking about the implicit suggestion. He doesn't know if he can do it. Of course, he knows he can kill someone. He's killed someone in the Tower, and there are few things he wants more than to kill a certain someone back home.

But can he kill someone here, like this? Someone whose welfare he cares about?

When Vergil glances back toward the elevator, he nods, still holding the sword.] Do you think there's some way? I don't know if they'd let me through.

[He would try, if he thought it might help.]

[He's never been to the administrative areas, and he has no idea how to get there. He frowns. He hates feeling powerless.] Do you know a way?

[He certainly isn't about to say anything like that to Kariya anyway. It's something he thinks of all humans regardless of their health, though he does see someone like Kariya as weaker than most. But that possibility of Eva returning and hearing what he's said keeps him in line. His human mother can't know these opinions.

As for the administrative areas...being unable to speak is all the more frustrating. He does know, having been with Ganondorf's group. He also knows it's unlikely anyone would survive a trip down there.

A small jerk of the head, and a frown to go with it, are all he can manage. The intention being 'yes, but I can't help'.]

[Kariya considers this. He does have Lancelot. He's not afraid to try something dangerous. The problem is, he doesn't know what. He keeps the sword in his hand for now, although he has little idea how to use it. He's not much good with weapons. Could he really kill someone with it? He isn't sure if he could do that.]

So there is a way?

Someone should do something... I don't know if I'll be able to.

Is there anything I can get for you? Anything else I can do?

[About what he had expected to hear. the other question, though, makes him stop for a moment, to think if there is anything. He needs to retrieve his photograph from Lancelot, but asking for it now seems unlikely to do much good.

Worker instinct takes over for a moment, making him stick several nutrition bars into a bowl and shove it at Kariya.]
