Summary: The siren's call of real food has drawn someone out of his post-event hiding place.

[He's done a good job of making himself missing the last week and a half, holed up in a back corner of the library with a beanbag and as many books as he can carry. It's actually a bit of a surprise when the new month comes around, bringing with it food other than Jason's nutrition bars, and that, ultimately, is what draws him away from the standard part of the cafeteria and back into the kitchens. It definitely seems to have put him in a better mood - he's more animated than he's been in a while as he looks through the cupboards and large refrigerator.

Before long, he's got a pot of water boiling for tea and a selection of chicken breast on the cutting board, a knife in hand as he trims away fat and chops the chicken into smaller pieces. Maybe if you approach him, he'll make your something that isn't covered in flowers.

But don't count on it.]

[A feeling of eyes on him, and Asch glances over his shoulder - oh, it's that kid again. There's a slight relaxation in Asch's posture. You're not someone he was worried about running into, at least as far as he's aware.]

Hungry?

[He comes a little closer, now that Asch has noticed him.]

[He can't cook, okay? And while he doesn't really have to eat, it's kind of nice.]

[Don't worry he's used to the whole nobody-else-can-cook aspect of his life.]

[He only has vague memories of it through Pit's memories. He's never actually had any himself.]

What... I kind of know what it is, but... ?

It's a hot drink brewed from tea leaves and whatever else. Usually a bit bitter, so people sweeten it with sugar or honey.

[In this case, the whatever else is flowers, obviously.]

[It's not his fault!]

... Huh. Sounds good.

[He'll pour you a cup, then. Careful, it's obviously hot, what with the steam and everything.]

If it's too bitter, there's sugar in the cupboard. This particular tea is very sweet, though.

[Flowahs, sweet and lovely flowahs.]

[He blows the steam away a little bit. He can deal with bitter. Sippity sip.]

[He's a little surprised.]

It's a little sweeter than my usual choice, but that also means there's not as much need to put sugar in it.

[He shrugs slightly, pushing the meat around the pan so it doesn't stick to the bottom and burn.]

You've never had any before, then?

[It's okay, he's starting to adjust to the fact that his social circle is pretty much entirely clonekids.]

It's fairly common drink, at least in my world.

[Not that much contact with them, really. He doesn't really care to.]

It's... they're really strange to me. They live short lives and they fight all the time. Hades manufactured a war to get souls, but even without him they fight a lot. I don't really get it.

[Well, now what's he supposed to say the that? He's human himself, after all, and really there's only one being on Auldrant who could possibly give a non-human perspective.

And in spite of being his isofon, Asch doesn't understand a lick about Lorelei when all's said and done.]

I suppose that if life's short anyway, there's no sense in being cautious.

[That, at least, he's learned from the Tower, in a much more visceral way.]

When there's something people care about more than their own lives, they'll fight for it.

I guess, but there's a difference between not being cautious and being stupid.

I don't... want to die. I mean in battle, from monsters, I'm not sure I can. But... having to go after Pit's soul... ugh.
