Summary: The siren's call of real food has drawn someone out of his post-event hiding place.
Warnings: Possibly event aftermath?

[He's done a good job of making himself missing the last week and a half, holed up in a back corner of the library with a beanbag and as many books as he can carry. It's actually a bit of a surprise when the new month comes around, bringing with it food other than Jason's nutrition bars, and that, ultimately, is what draws him away from the standard part of the cafeteria and back into the kitchens. It definitely seems to have put him in a better mood - he's more animated than he's been in a while as he looks through the cupboards and large refrigerator.

Before long, he's got a pot of water boiling for tea and a selection of chicken breast on the cutting board, a knife in hand as he trims away fat and chops the chicken into smaller pieces. Maybe if you approach him, he'll make your something that isn't covered in flowers.

But don't count on it.]

[Suzaku nodded] Yes, not that that means anything here so he never introduced himself as such. [But Suzaku doesn't have any other way to explain their relationship, friend implies far too much... well friendliness.]

Finished chopping the chicken, Asch slides it all to one side of the cutting board and goes to rinse his hands at the sink.]

[He nods and watches him a moment.] Do you need any help?

[Frying pans, come on, there's one of those in this cupboard somewhere - ]

I'm fine. It's not the first or last time I've done this.

[He nods, it's probably for the best. Suzaku was taught to cook by a woman who thought blue berry and wasabi dumplings were a good idea.]

[Well, he's heard of worse. Octopus. Fucking octopus.]

If you want to stick around, I can probably throw you together a plate.

[Because hey he's not an unreasonable dude. Hungry people are hungry, why else would you be in the cafeteria.]

[Oh hey look that tea water is boiling. Excellent. Best part of Riki months is the tea.]

[He goes to find some food, moving a large jar of flowers out of the way.] I didn't know so many flowers were edible.

[Are they edible? Or are they just going to make them all ill. Suzaku has no idea.

Oh tea, Suzaku likes tea. He can even make it without messing it up. It's about the limit to his cooking ability.] Do you want me to make that while you keep cooking?

[He's determined to be helpful.]

It's often more a matter of which ones aren't poisonous. Most of them don't taste very good, though. I'm kind of surprised there's no poppyseed.

[This stuff all seems to be safe, although to be fair, Asch doesn't recognize everything. Wrong world problems.]

I can't imagine they do. [He looks at the tea, finally grabbing Jasmine, just because he's positive that's not poisonous.

Soon he is passing a cup of tea to Asch with a nod.]

[Hey, his preference is actually black tea, he'll take what he can get. Since he's busy frying up chicken by that point, Asch just leaves the tea to cool.]

Sure you don't want anything?

[swordofzero]

Only if there is enough. [He takes the pot of tea and puts it to the side in case Asch wants any more.]

There's plenty.

[He pauses a moment to pour some of that orange sauce into the pan, tossing the chicken in it for a few minutes before killing the heat on the stove.]

If you are sure then. [It smells delicious, a world apart from anything Suzaku could manage.]

[bloodyashes]

[He just fills a plate, and then a second that he slides towards Suzaku.]

It's not a problem.

[swordofzero]

Thank you. [He waits, assuming the man was going to eat as well.]

It's nothing.

[Yeah, just let him grab a fork and that cup of tea to settle down into a chair.]

[Once he's seated Suzaku takes a bite of the chicken. It was as delicious as it smelled.] This is very nice, you're a good cook.

I've had to take care of myself for a few years now. Cooking comes with the territory.

[So does laundry, cleaning, a bit of sewing here and there... What a great housewife he'll be.]

[He nodded, understanding.] I was lucky that food is provided for soldiers.

We're probably going to be done here soon haha

It was provided for us, too, but that doesn't mean it was worth eating.

[Or maybe it just means your tastes were too refined, Asch.
